Jiang Yan, a modern man visiting a historic Jiangnan street, is abruptly pulled into a supernatural collapse of time and memory when the river of history itself falls ill. Buildings decay into their ancient forms, forgotten figures rise as monstrous entities, and the very fabric of recorded time unravels around him. Armed only with his knowledge of Chinese history and a sharp, pragmatic mind, he must survive hour by hour in a world where the Qing Dynasty’s lost supernatural sects—like the Corpse-Dissolution Royal Court—have returned, fueled by the sickness of collective memory.

As he navigates streets haunted by reanimated historical beasts and cryptic figures in pre-Qin robes, Jiang Yan begins to suspect he was chosen for a reason—and that his own past may be entangled with the disease consuming history. With each passing moment, reality grows more unstable, and the line between scholar and survivor blurs.
