Chapter 56: Unicorn Blood
"Hagrid, what happened?"
Harry asked loudly.
"Someone attacked the unicorn; I have to tell Professor Dengbulido."
Hagrid stepped out, his face looking grim, and said.
The three finally saw clearly the unicorn in Hagrid's arms.
It looked so holy, emitting a faint glow; its pure white hair was untouched by dust, yet near its neck it was stained with silvery blood, and a deep wound kept bleeding outward, even though Hagrid had already tended it.
"Did you not see that person?"
Dali asked.
"No."
Hagrid shook his head, walked into the hut, took some potions and began treating the unicorn's injuries.
"Ah, what kind of person would attack such a pure animal?"
"Catching a unicorn is not easy; these animals possess strong Magic. I've never heard of a unicorn being harmed before."
"Sweetheart, don't move; I'm treating your wounds."
"Harry, help me write a letter to Professor Dengbulido, telling him someone attacked a unicorn in the Forbidden Forest."
While Hagrid was treating the unicorn, he said to the three standing nearby.
"Alright."
Harry immediately agreed, taking out parchment and a quill.
"By the way, Professor Dengbulido might be unavailable; he's too busy. Also write a letter to Professor Quirrell of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Unicorns are hard to hurt; this may be related to Dark Magic, perhaps Professor Quirrell can discern something."
Hagrid continued.
"Has Professor Quirrell returned?" Dali asked.
It was said that Professor Quirrell was injured while traveling in Albania and hadn't recovered, so they missed the first week's Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
"He just returned today, so we can ask him to help."
Hagrid said.
"Alright, I understand."
Harry nodded and began writing the letter.
"Hagrid, what kind of person would attack a unicorn?"
Dali crouched beside the unicorn, stroking its pearl‑white mane, soothing its emotions.
"It's hard to say; some wizards are cruel and may strike a unicorn for other reasons."
Hagrid said, but gave no detailed explanation.
Dali frowned, recalling the unsettling gaze he had seen earlier.
Generally, no one attacks another animal without cause, unless the person is mentally twisted, and a unicorn is not something an ordinary wizard can harm.
Thus, obviously, the attacker must have a clear purpose to act this way.
But the records Dali saw in Spellbooks about unicorns mainly mention their horns and the uses of their hair, such as making wands.
Yet these do not seem to be reasons to harm—or even nearly kill—a unicorn.
Dali pondered briefly, activated Spiritual Sight, and examined the unicorn before him.
Under Spiritual Sight, the unicorn's white radiance became even more vivid and pure, exceedingly beautiful.
It truly is a profoundly holy creature.
"Hmm, its blood…"
Dali's gaze fell on the unicorn's neck wound, where silvery blood still flowed, not yet dried, glowing brightly, and he could feel the powerful spiritual energy it contained.
"The unicorn's blood seems unusual; perhaps the attacker seeks its blood…"
Dali thought to himself.
If it truly is for the unicorn's blood, then attacking its neck makes sense.
But Dali does not yet know the exact purpose of unicorn blood, nor why that person would do this.
The Magic World really isn't as friendly as it appears.
The unicorn seemed to sense Dali's unique gaze; its eyes shifted slightly toward him.
Pure, spirited, on the brink of death…
These were the emotions Dali felt in the unicorn's eyes.
"It's okay, it'll recover soon."
Dali dismissed Spiritual Sight and said soothingly.
His hand brushed the unicorn, collecting some hair stained with its blood, which could be used for research later.
Harry had already finished the letter, sent it off with an owl.
Under Hagrid's care, the unicorn improved greatly, no longer looking as if it could die at any moment.
About ten minutes later.
Footsteps sounded outside Hagrid's hut.
Ron ran to the window and saw Professor Dengbulido walking slowly toward them.
"It's Professor Dengbulido; he's arrived."
Ron shouted with delight.
Harry also showed a smile.
At Hogwarts, Professor Dengbulido is their greatest support; as long as he appears, all problems seem solvable.
Harry ran over, opened the door, and Dengbulido entered slowly, kindly greeting everyone.
"I have received your letter; let me take a look at that injured unicorn."
Professor Dengbulido stepped forward, crouched down, and examined the unicorn lying on the ground.
Immediately, he extended his withered right hand, stroked the unicorn's hide, and inspected the wound on its neck.
"Indeed there are traces of Black Magic; this is not something an ordinary wizard could do."
Dengbulido's expression grew somewhat solemn.
"Oh, my goodness, who exactly is causing trouble in the Forbidden Forest," Hagrid said.
Dengbulido said nothing, merely shaking his head.
"How did you discover it?"
Dengbulido stood up and asked.
"It was Dali; he said he saw what seemed to be a person in the Forbidden Forest. I feared a student had entered the Forbidden Forest, so I went in immediately to check, but found no human figure, only this barely surviving unicorn."
"However, Dali probably didn't mistake; I Suspect the person he saw is the wizard who attacked the unicorn."
Hagrid said.
Dengbulido's gaze instantly turned to Dali; behind his crescent‑shaped glasses, a pair of eyes emitted a meaning‑laden glow.
"Alright, wherever you are, it seems you always encounter some incidents."
Dengbulido said.
"Professor, we…" Harry began to protest.
Dengbulido pressed his hand, and said calmly, "I have no other intention, just a sigh."
"Dali, what exactly did you see? Can you describe it to me?"
"I now Suspect you possess a unique, keen talent for danger and anomalies."
Professor Dengbulido said seriously.
"Oh, alright, I…"
Dali was just about to speak when footsteps sounded outside the door again.
"Did you also inform anyone else?"
Dengbulido asked.
"It should be Professor Quirrell; I feared you Lack time, so I asked him to come and see whether this matter is related to Black Magic," Hagrid explained.
As they spoke, a man wearing a purple headscarf and a pallid complexion walked in.
