Chapter 79: Explosion
Images from before flashed through Dali's mind; things that seemed unrelated were all linked together at this moment.
"The thing that the three-headed dog was looking at turned out to be the Philosopher's Stone!" Ron was shocked.
Harry's expression was excited as he said, "When that man in black was at Gulingge, he tried to steal the Philosopher's Stone, but Professor Dengbulido anticipated it, foiling his plan, and then he chased after Hogwarts."
"The person who attacked the unicorn in the Forbidden Forest earlier was probably that man in black from Gulingge."
Dali nodded and added, "Harry, remember? The night Hagrid came to pick us up, we talked so late that he overslept the next day."
Harry didn't understand Dali's meaning at first, but he quickly caught on and said excitedly, "So we were supposed to reach Diagon Alley that morning and take the Philosopher's Stone, but because Hagrid overslept, the plan was delayed, causing us to run into the person trying to steal the Stone."
Dali nodded.
In fact, Dali thought of more.
He recalled that when they were at the Leaky Cauldron, the owner named Tom had mentioned that if they came earlier, they could meet their Dark Arts Defense class teacher, Professor Quirrell.
And that shows that Professor Quirrell was indeed in Diagon Alley that day.
Moreover, at the start of term, Professor Quirrell missed not only the Sorting Ceremony but also the courses for the first week thereafter.
His explanation was that something had happened while traveling in Albania.
But now it seems it was probably because of the battle between Gulingge and Dali.
"No wonder, back then he could break free of the binding ability I used; that wasn't his own doing, but that evil spirit!" Dali thought to himself.
At this point, everything matched up.
"Then, that evil spirit, is it the legendary Voldemort?" Dali already had a guess in his mind.
"What do we do now? Should we tell Professor Dengbulido this information?" Harry asked.
Dali pondered, not speaking immediately.
"So, was it Snape who wanted to steal the Philosopher's Stone? Was the man in black you met at Gulingge Snape?"
Ron listened, confused, but one thing he firmly believed was that Sineipu was the villain.
"We don't know if it's Sineipu, but he is indeed the biggest suspect, since the person who could hunt a unicorn in the Forbidden Forest is most likely someone from the castle," Harry said.
"What are you doing?"
Suddenly, Hermione stepped out from behind the bookshelf.
"Hermione, how did you end up here?"
Harry said in surprise.
"I heard everything you just said," Hermione said excitedly, "Listen, whether it's a Philosopher's Stone or not, it has nothing to do with us, right?"
"That stone is safely kept at Hogwarts, and Professor Dengbulido certainly protects it with powerful magic; as long as we don't cause trouble, the stone remains safe."
Harry and Ron furrowed their brows.
"Hermione, Professor Dengbulido trusts Sineipu; he has been blinded by Sineipu, which is obvious. We must tell Professor Dengbulido our discovery," Harry tried to persuade Hermione.
"But what have you discovered?" Hermione retorted.
"This..."
Harry and Ron were stunned for a moment.
They had uncovered the secret of the Philosopher's Stone, but for Professor Dengbulido that was not a secret at all. As for the Sineipu they suspected, there was no evidence whatsoever.
"We can tell him our speculation and let him judge for himself," Harry finally said.
"Do you think Professor Dengbulido would believe us first-year students, or would he believe Professor Sineipu?" Hermione continued.
Ron and Harry fell silent.
"Alright, leave this matter to me; you don't need to worry about it any more."
Dali spoke directly.
Perhaps it's time to tell Dengbulido about Quirrell.
He had originally thought Quirrell was merely a pitiable person possessed by an evil spirit, but now it seemed he had still underestimated this seemingly meek, stammering professor.
The evil spirit inside him was likely the one that killed Harry's entire family and created the great dark age villain Voldemort.
Of course, Dali currently has no evidence.
"Do you have a way to make Professor Dengbulido believe you?"
Hermione looked at Dali and asked.
"Don't forget, I'm the Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officer approved by Professor Dengbulido," Dali said.
Harry, Ron and the others exchanged glances, saying nothing more.
Hermione furrowed her brows but said nothing further.
The next day.
When they woke up in the morning, they smelled an enticing roasted pumpkin aroma drifting through the corridor.
Only then did they realize Halloween had arrived.
During breakfast.
"Have you thought about how to tell Professor Dengbulido?" Harry asked.
"Not yet," Dali thought, considering how to safely report Professor Quirrell without causing others to link him to the Night Emperor.
"At worst, just say it straight."
Ron ate a pumpkin pastry and said vaguely.
"Then tell Dengbulido that we once entered the Fourth Floor corridor, went to chat with Hagrid, and Hagrid told us everything?" Dali said helplessly, looking at Ron.
"Uh..." Ron stammered.
"Let me think, how many school rules have we broken along the way, how many points should be deducted..." Dali joked.
"Deduction of points, what points deduction, what did you do?"
Upon hearing the words 'points deduction', Hermione, a few meters away, nearly jumped out of her seat.
"Nothing, we're just joking." Dali said quickly.
"We're already in last place, please don't cause any more trouble." Hermione said.
No matter how hard Hermione worked in class, but the result was that Gryffindor kept losing points; the points she earned weren't enough to offset the points Dali and the other two lost for breaking school rules.
After eating, the three prepared to go to class.
"What's our first class?" Luoen asked.
"Professor Fuliwei's Charms class, we……"
Bang!
A loud explosion sounded not far from Dali, a plume of black smoke shot up, startling everyone in the hall.
Everyone looked at Ximo, who had been blown black, with a dazed and frightened expression.
"I... I just wanted to turn this cup of water into wine." Ximo said aggrievedly.
Dali's mouth twitched.
This wasn't the first time Ximo had caused an explosion.
"What a little explosives genius."
