Chapter 93: I Sign a Promissory Note! I Owe Ten Chapters!
“Who the hell ordered this gang of delinquents out?!” Yuan Zhisheng roared, his fury boiling over.
If this gang of drug-addled delinquents, armed with lethal weapons, encountered Caesar’s team, the consequences would be unimaginable.
His original intention was merely to wait until this incident blew over before letting Caesar’s team go; after all, their survival meant there was still a chance to mend ties with Cassell College, even though they had submitted their “resignations,” they had at least returned the headquarters’ special envoy.
Sweat broke out on Yuan Zhisheng’s forehead—he could only hope Caesar’s team had good luck and survived.
“Your piss lasted at least five minutes!” Caesar complained. “Come on, to the locker room—Eva’s map just arrived.”
There was no choice—Lu Mingfei now held his “ammunition.” When he had taken Ma Shengzhen into this cramped internet cafe room, Lu Mingfei had just walked in.
He’d thought they were all men; meeting in this seedy internet cafe wouldn’t matter.
But then he realized—this guy was single!
Lu Mingfei could afford to be shameless, but Caesar couldn’t—if this reached his fiancée’s ears, who knew what NoNo would do?
“Someone’s broken in—go!”
Rapid footsteps approached down the corridor; through his Kamikaze, Caesar heard clearly—it was a gang of youths armed with guns and knives.
They burst into every private room, beating customers, grabbing girls offering soft services to grope them, while cursing these girls—barely their own age—as “obasans.”
Chains clinked against gun barrels with a “shush-shush,” while blades and clubs slammed against walls, thudding heavily.
“You two go first,” Lu Mingfei told Caesar.
Caesar, who had already stepped out the door under Ma Shengzhen’s lead, froze. He snapped at Lu Mingfei: “Lu Mingfei! The situation is critical—I order you, as your team leader, to retreat immediately!”
Caesar assumed Lu Mingfei had lost his mind, wanting to play one more game in this seedy internet cafe—but if Lu Mingfei didn’t leave now, Caesar feared he’d be left dead here.
“Fuck!”
Caesar saw Lu Mingfei pull out a golden greatsword—nearly as tall as Lu Mingfei himself.
“I don’t want to run anymore, boss.”
Lu Mingfei gripped the greatsword in one hand, his golden eyes blazing—so much so that Caesar, an A-rank bloodline user, felt a flicker of pressure.
“I’ll hold the rear—you go.”
“They’re here!”
Two armed thugs emerged from the corridor’s corner, pointing their pistols at Caesar and Ma Shengzhen. Caesar immediately dragged Ma Shengzhen aside.
“Lu Mingfei!”
He was worried—he sensed Lu Mingfei charging out.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Caesar looked for an opening to counterattack via Kamikaze—but the sounds relayed to him nearly dropped his jaw.
He frantically looked outside.
He saw—
The bullets fired from the pistols hung suspended just before Lu Mingfei as he burst from the room, like a scene from The Matrix.
The two delinquents across swore in Japanese, convinced they’d taken too much drugs.
Lu Mingfei’s eyes blazed with golden light.
The next instant—
BOOM!
Amid a thunderous crack, the two young delinquents were embedded into the wooden wall, limbs twisted grotesquely. Lu Mingfei stood where they had been, blue electricity crackling around him.
In Caesar’s Kamikaze perception, less than two seconds had passed—and those two delinquents looked as if they’d been hit by a cement truck, their only sign of life the faint rise and fall of their chests.
Ding-ding-dang—
Bullets clattered to the floor.
Little White Rabbit evolved into Godzilla!?
Caesar was now thoroughly confused—the situation had escalated too rapidly, and he couldn’t keep up.
Okay, two days ago, they got separated underwater; half an hour ago, Lu Mingfei found him, then Lu Mingfei went to the bathroom.
Then Lu Mingfei pulled out a greatsword and used a Speech Spell to defeat the two armed enemies.
Alright, logic checks out.
Caesar wondered if the crisis they’d faced underwater two days ago had triggered Lu Mingfei’s bloodline awakening.
He’d always sensed Lu Mingfei had exceptional potential, so he scoffed at forum rumors claiming Lu Mingfei was the headmaster’s illegitimate son—now his judgment was proven right. How could those vulgar people see the potential of this one-in-two “S”-rank?
【Su Lin: Don’t make your grand entrance last—just charge out and slaughter them all. Next time I get immortal wine, I’ll give you half a bottle.】
Lu Mingfei forced down his discomfort—he admitted, these delinquents were hateful, but this was the first time he’d ever struck humans so brutally. He’d tried holding back, yet this was still the result.
He could only force himself not to look at the two delinquents.
The delinquents’ reinforcements arrived, guns blazing at him—but the outcome was the same: every bullet stopped dead ten centimeters before him.
Lu Mingfei’s face was pale. He nodded to Caesar, raised his left hand, fingers pointing down, then made a wiping motion from chin to forehead—a mask of spiritual energy formed over his face.
He still wanted to stay low-key—he didn’t want to become as famous as Su Lin.
BOOM! Amid thunderous roars, Lu Mingfei vanished around the corridor’s corner. In Caesar’s perception, one after another delinquent was embedded into walls, jammed into ceilings, limbs twisted in every grotesque way, like scenes from Kung Fu Hustle.
“Let’s go!”
The school rules forbade using Speech Spells on ordinary people—but to celebrate Lu Mingfei proving himself, Caesar decided to write his report for him tonight.
Ma Shengzhen’s cheeks flushed slightly; she felt as if she’d stepped into a fantasy plot, like the heroine in Vampire Knight.
Since the Tokyo Didala incident and the descent of the gods, she’d understood the world held many supernatural forces.
Of course, she was an ordinary person—but tonight, she’d experienced an entirely different life.
Caesar pulled Ma Shengzhen into the locker room—the cold wind cut their faces. Caesar stepped aside.
“Chu Zihang?!”
“Are you trying to kill me?!”
Chu Zihang recognized them and lowered his weapon.
“Sorry—I thought you were enemies.”
He glanced around Caesar. “Where’s Lu Mingfei? Didn’t he meet up with you?”
“He said he’d stay behind to hold the line.”
Chu Zihang grabbed Caesar by the collar, eyes blazing with anger: “How could you let him stay alone against these thugs?!”
His voice was fierce, then he released Caesar and marched toward the direction Caesar had come from.
Caesar grabbed Chu Zihang’s arm urgently: “His bloodline has awakened!”
“He’s just like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix!”
Chu Zihang froze.
“He took down over a dozen armed delinquents in an instant—bullets couldn’t even pierce his defense, like a movie scene!”
“I don’t know his Speech Spell—but right now, trust him,” Caesar said seriously. “He’s our best S-rank.”
“Fall back first!”
Chu Zihang stood rooted in place. He should have been thrilled for Lu Mingfei—but for some reason, he remembered what Lu Mingfei had said to him that night.
“If I’m also a dragon… what will you do, Senior Brother?”
I originally planned to burst with updates during the Spring Festival, but readers probably know I only got off work the night before last.
Sometimes I have to work overtime—I barely had time to write during that stretch; maintaining two chapters daily was already my limit.
So! I sign this document!
January 23, 2023: the ten bonus chapters are owed—I’ll pay them back when I can! There should be another update soon!
