Chapter 118: Continue the Ruckus
James sneered, his long Sword twitched slightly, the tip carving a shallow blood mark on Morris's neck: "Kill you? No, we won't kill you. But you must pay for your actions."
Before the words fell, James suddenly struck, a hand slash slashing Morris's rear neck.
Morris let out a muffled groan, his body went limp and fell. James quickly hoisted him, turned and walked toward the academy's tower.
At the top floor of the academy's tower, several Deputy Deans and an Honorary Deputy Dean gathered to discuss how to deal with Morris.
The atmosphere in the meeting room was heavy, each face bore a hint of seriousness.
"Morris is a First Ring Wizard, an elder councilor of the Wizard Council; we cannot kill him lightly," someone whispered, tone cautious.
"But he openly used illusion in the academy, trying to control the students; this behavior has seriously crossed the academy's bottom line!" James's voice carried a hint of anger, his gaze swept the room, seeming to look for supporters.
Melinda sat at the other end of the conference table, twirling a delicate silver pocket watch in her hand.
Her expression was indifferent, as if everything before her was unrelated. Hearing James's words, she gently closed the watch, lifted her head, her eyes showing a trace of laziness and sarcasm.
"Killing him would only exacerbate our conflict with the Wizard Council," Melinda's voice was soft yet carried undeniable authority, "but releasing him would make us appear weak and vulnerable. Since that's the case, let's detain him temporarily as a bargaining chip in our negotiations with the Wizard Council."
Her words plunged the meeting room into a brief silence.
The Deputy Deans exchanged glances, as if weighing pros and cons.
"Dean Melinda is right," Maddy nodded, tone with a hint of agreement, "We can use Morris to pressure the Wizard Council, demanding they cease interfering with the academy."
At the same time, Robin's name spread rapidly through the academy.
At the same time, an Instructor also came out to explain the recent anomalies, all of which were caused by some First Ring Wizard's mischief.
Allen Wilk Wofter's feat of breaking Morris's illusion naturally became a hot topic among the students.
It was obvious that someone was fanning the flames.
Many students began to view him as a role model, some even calling him "Illusion Nemesis".
Robin stood on the high platform of the training ground, scanning the gathered students below. His voice was firm and powerful, echoing in every ear: "Listen to me! These hallucinations are being covertly manipulated by members of the Wizard Council, proving the Wizard Council's malevolence.
For the West, for our families and future, we must unite to curb their ambitions! If we want our families to remain strong, we cannot let the Wizard Council continue to develop unchecked!"
His words were like a stone tossed into a calm lake, sending ripples outward.
The students looked up at him; Robin's speech not only ignited their fighting spirit but also made them realize that the Wizard Council's threat was not distant, but already seeped into their lives.
"Allen is right!" a student shouted loudly, fist clenched, eyes burning with battle intent, "We cannot sit idle! The Wizard Council has already bullied us, we must strike back!"
"Exactly!" another student exclaimed enthusiastically, "One‑on‑one we might not beat a wizard of the same rank, but our numbers are multiple times theirs, even tenfold! We can crush them with sheer numbers!"
"Right! It's just illusion! As long as we stand together, the Wizard Council isn't scary at all!" another student waved his fist, voice full of confidence.
Robin gave a slight smile, a trace of satisfaction flashing in his eyes.
His words had already ignited the students' resolve. He raised his hand, signaling everyone to be quiet, then continued: "The essence of illusion is to exploit our fears and weaknesses. As long as we stay clear‑headed and steadfast, we can resist its influence.
Likewise, our fear of the Wizard Council, if we do not cower, the Wizard Council cannot truly threaten us!"
As soon as his words ended, a burst of enthusiastic applause and cheers rang across the training ground. The students lifted their weapons, shouting: "Unite! Resist the Wizard Council!"
Since we can no longer avoid the Wizard Council, we'll fight to the death.
The primary task is to boost student morale; many here come from Western nobility, naturally opposed to the Wizard Council.
He is Robin's natural ally; he will gradually erase the Knights' fear of Wizards. Once Wizards are not seen as so powerful in the hearts of Knights, the Wizard Council's standing in the West will drop sharply.
Under Robin's leadership, the students began specialized training against illusion.
On the training ground, students formed small groups, simulating illusion attacks and defenses.
Robin moved among the squads, patiently instructing each person.
"Illusion attacks often strike the heart, exploiting our fears and weaknesses," Robin said seriously in front of a student, "Therefore, you must learn to control your emotions and stay calm. Only then can you avoid being fooled by illusion."
The student nodded, took a deep breath, closed his eyes and began meditation.
Robin nodded approvingly, then walked toward the next group of students.
Meanwhile, several senior students also began to organize themselves, drafting plans to counter the Wizard Council.
They used the academy's information network to gather the Wizard Council's movements, attempting to uncover their weaknesses.
"The Wizard Council is strong, but they have weaknesses," a senior student whispered, "Their members are scattered across regions; if we can concentrate our forces and take them down one by one, we can diminish their power."
Another student nodded, a cold glint in his eyes: "Exactly, we can start with their peripheral members, gradually dismantling their influence."
At the top floor of the academy's tower, Melinda stood by the window, overlooking the bustling scene on the training ground below. Her gaze fell on Robin, a hint of admiration flashing in her eyes.
"This guy really didn't disappoint me," Melinda murmured softly, a slight smile curling her lips.
Behind her, a man in a black robe appeared silently, whispering, "Lady Melinda, the Wizard Council's agents have already begun moving. Should we intervene?"
Melinda shook her head, tone tinged with coldness, "No need. Let them continue their trouble. This play has only just begun."
The black‑robed man nodded, then vanished into the shadows.
Melinda's gaze returned to the training ground, a deep meaning in her eyes: "Allen Wilk Wofter, let me see how far you can go."
