Chapter 132: Betrayal
Kelesi's appearance prevented the two Legendary Knights beside Marquis Suonata from safely staying in the rear to protect the Marquis; the two joined forces to hold Kelesi.
But the Wizard Council in Obedi City has more than one Formal Wizard, let alone Kelesi, who is a peak Wizard.
"Odum didn't come, we can only rely on ourselves; Alina, you all be careful."
Robin surveyed the battlefield with a glance, then vanished from everyone's sight.
Robin's figure disappeared from the chaotic battlefield like a ghost; his movements were light and swift, as if merging with the surrounding shadows.
Alina and Marquis Suonata exchanged a look, understanding Robin's intent—he was seeking the optimal sniping spot, ready to use his unparalleled archery to turn the tide.
Meanwhile, Kelesi's battle with the two Legendary Knights had entered a feverish stage.
Kelesi's magic was astonishing; black energy waves swept in like a raging storm. Though the two Legendary Knights were powerful, under Kelesi's suppression they still seemed strained.
"Hmph, mere Knights dare to contend with a Wizard?" Kelesi sneered, swung his staff sharply, and a black lightning bolt shot straight toward one of the Legendary Knights.
The Knight quickly raised his Shield to block, but the black lightning's power far exceeded his expectation; the Shield shattered instantly, his body was knocked back several steps, and a trickle of blood welled at his mouth.
The other Legendary Knight, seeing this, immediately brandished his Sword and charged at Kelesi, trying to buy his companion a moment's respite.
Kelesi reacted instantly; with a light tap of his staff, an invisible barrier sprang up before him, effortlessly nullifying the Knight's attack.
"Your struggle is meaningless," Kelesi said with a hint of sarcasm. "Obedi City is destined to fall under our control, and you are merely sacrificial victims of this transformation."
Just as Kelesi prepared to launch another attack, an arrow suddenly shot out from the shadows, heading straight for his throat!
Kelesi reacted swiftly; with a swing of his staff, a black energy Shield materialized before him. The arrow struck the Shield, producing a crisp clang, then was deflected.
"Who?!" Kelesi's gaze snapped toward the arrow's direction, a flash of cold in his eyes.
Yet Robin's figure remained hidden in the darkness, showing no sign of exposure.
His archery was not only precise but also extremely concealed; even a powerhouse like Kelesi found it hard to pinpoint his position amid the chaotic battlefield.
"Allen, well done!" Alina whispered, a spark of excitement flashing in her eyes.
Marquis Suonata's eyes also lit up; Robin's archery couldn't directly defeat Kelesi, but it was enough to distract him, granting the two Legendary Knights more opportunities.
Sure enough, while Kelesi was distracted by Robin's arrows, the two Legendary Knights quickly readjusted and launched another fierce assault.
Their coordination was highly synchronized, alternating attack and defense, seeking a flaw in Kelesi.
Kelesi's strength, after all, far surpassed that of ordinary Wizards; his magical Shield was nearly impenetrable, and the Legendary Knights' attacks, though fierce, could not breach his defense.
"You think this can defeat me?" Kelesi sneered, thrusting his staff into the ground; a black energy wave radiated from him outward rapidly.
The two Legendary Knights retreated quickly, yet the residual surge of the energy wave still rattled their blood.
Their expressions grew solemn, clearly realizing Kelesi's power was greater than they had anticipated.
At that moment, Robin's second arrow shot out from the shadows again, this time targeting Kelesi's staff!
Kelesi's reaction remained lightning‑fast; with a swing of his staff, the arrow was deflected again. Yet Robin's arrows seemed endless, one after another from varied angles, forcing Kelesi to split his focus.
"Damned bug!" Kelesi's voice carried a hint of anger as his gaze swept the battlefield, trying to locate Robin.
Robin's figure remained concealed in the darkness, as if merged with the shadows.
His arrows were not only precise but also at tricky angles; each shot forced Kelesi to divert his attention.
Under the continuous interference, Kelesi grew irritated; a flash of cold crossed his eyes, and his staff swung sharply, sending a black energy wave toward the direction where Robin might be hiding!
"Allen, watch out!" Alina shouted, her heart tightening instantly.
Robin's figure still did not appear, as if he had completely vanished from the battlefield.
Kelesi's attack missed; the black energy wave exploded against a distant wall, raising a plume of smoke.
"Hmph, you dodge well," Kelesi sneered, a hint of disdain in his tone.
However, the moment he was distracted, the two Legendary Knights launched another fierce assault, their attacks sweeping in like a raging storm, forcing Kelesi to respond with all his might.
The battle entered a stalemate; although Kelesi was powerful, Robin's interference and the Legendary Knights' relentless attacks prevented him from gaining a quick advantage.
Meanwhile, Alina and the other guards fought hard against the mercenaries and rioters' assault.
Inside the Marquis's manor, the fighting was exceptionally fierce; every second someone fell, and blood stained the ground crimson.
"We must hold on!" Alina shouted loudly, her dagger flashing like lightning, repelling a mercenary who tried to approach.
However, the situation remained far from optimistic.
The Wizard Council's influence was evidently stronger than they had expected, and Kelesi's appearance further complicated the battle.
Just as everyone felt the pressure mounting, a bright horn sounded from afar.
Immediately after, a fully armed army rushed into the Marquis's manor, led by the commander of Obedi City's city defense forces!
"Reinforcements have arrived!" Alina's eyes flashed with hope as she shouted loudly, "Everyone hold on!"
Unfortunately, the next second, the city defense commander Luo Ang's slaughter blade pointed at Marquis Suonata.
In an instant, the Marquis's personal guards were cut down, leaving a scene of utter chaos.
"Luo Ang! Are you mad?!" Marquis Suonata's roar echoed across the chaotic battlefield, his eyes filled with shock and fury. He never imagined that the city defense commander he trusted would betray him at this crucial moment, turning his blade toward his own men!
Luo Ang's face showed no remorse, only a cold, cruel smile. The longsword in his hand was drenched in blood, its tip pointing at Marquis Suonata. His voice was icy and mocking: "Lord Marquis, the times have changed. The Wizard Council is the future's ruler, and you… are merely a relic of the old era."
"You actually sided with the Wizard Council!" Marquis Suonata's voice trembled with incredulous anger. "Luo Ang, I have treated you well; why betray me?!"
