Chapter 6: Sasriel

~7 min read 1,270 words

"Lord, we shall take our leave." Ouroboros left with Hermes, leaving only Chumen and the Ancient Sun God in the cathedral.

This was a gathering of fellow countrymen.

Just as when Chumen first learned of the Goddess's identity, there was a sense of recognition, yet an invisible barrier remained due to the nature of this world.

"Would you like a drink?" Chumen asked suddenly. "Vodka! Guaranteed to be authentic!"

Chumen opened the Dream Book and took two bottles of liquor directly from it.

With a thought, the dream descended into the world.

"This is a gift for our meeting." Chumen handed the liquor over.

"... Thank you." The Ancient Sun God looked at Chumen for a long moment before accepting the two bottles, his expression peculiar, tinged with regret and reminiscence.

"Truly a distant memory."

He twisted off the cap and drank half the bottle in one gulp. "A very familiar taste!"

"The rules of the ancient Eastern kingdom seem to require a return gift." The Ancient Sun God set the bottle down, his gaze falling upon the Divinity Badge on Chumen's chest.

"Got it!" He reached out and pinched lightly, as if a sun were condensing in his hand, eventually forming a Sun Badge that was nearly identical to that Divinity Badge.

Chumen's eyes lit up as he sensed its effect—Eternal Day.

Its primary function was Exorcism and Purification, but it also had the effect of awakening sleeping beings.

"Many thanks!" Chumen took it and placed it together with the badge containing the sleepless Godhood of the Goddess; Dream Phosphor lit up, and the two badges merged into one.

The Divinity Badge now had two patterns on its sides; the powers of the Sun and the stars surged, maintaining Chumen's state.

"Sleeplessness and Eternal Day; I fear I shall never be able to sleep again." Of course, for Chumen, this was actually a good thing.

Chumen laughed; this was an unexpected gain.

"What business do you and that lady have with me?" The Ancient Sun God had indeed already met with the Goddess!

"Naturally, it is for cooperation." Chumen's expression turned serious as the power of the Chaos Sea and Dream Phosphor covered the cathedral.

"How shall we cooperate?" The Ancient Sun God held the cross with one hand, asking calmly and gently.

At this moment, he was more like a god than a man.

"The Ancient God alliance, Lilith, and the Destruction Demon Wolf." Chumen provided these keywords.

The Ancient Sun God's expression was calm, his eyes clear; he was not moved by them.

Yet Chumen knew that something called the Omniscience Authority had begun to surge within the Chaos Sea.

Although the Ancient Sun God had not yet reclaimed the Spectator and White Tower pathways, he could indirectly grasp the Authority of omniscience through the Chaos Sea.

He was deducing, using endless knowledge to deduce the threads of this era!

He did not have the Authority of Fate, but the Writer's ability in this regard was not inferior.

"Lilith..." The Ancient Sun God's gaze fell upon Chumen, thoughtful. "You have already persuaded Her?"

"No one is willing to lose their self." Chumen did not answer directly, but spoke with implication.

"Good." The Ancient Sun God nodded slightly, deciding to go with the tide of this era. "Go find Sasriel for the specific matters."

Afterward, the Ancient Sun God walked to the base of the giant cross, closed his eyes, and began to pray to himself.

I always feel like this god is slacking off...

Chumen blinked and obediently walked out of the cathedral, where he saw Ouroboros and Hermes.

"Hello, Ouroboros, I am very sorry about what happened before." Chumen looked at Ouroboros.

The eruption of the Chaos Sea earlier had almost submerged Ouroboros.

"Hmm?" Ouroboros finally moved his eyes away from the stone tablet, looked at Chumen, and paused for a moment before responding, "It does not matter. You did not harm me, and you are a friend of the Lord."

He saw the badge on Chumen's chest, which possessed a power he was very familiar with.

"The Lord's Divine Oracle tells me to take you to see Sasriel." Ouroboros suddenly remembered something and reached out to invite him.

"Mm, let's go." Chumen and his little follower Hermes walked under the guidance of Ouroboros through the God's Kingdom of the Sun God.

"The people here!" Hermes was somewhat shocked; they saw a massive sacrificial procession, with grand hymns echoing incessantly, praising the deity who brought sunlight to this land.

Of course, such things happened from time to time in other human city-states, but what shocked Hermes's soul the most was that some humans actually had mysterious power surging within them.

The most critical thing was that there were no mutations on them, their Spirituality was stable, and their spiritual bodies presented a peaceful state that Hermes had never seen before!

"Oh Sun, you grant us sunlight and dew, food and holy water..."

The hymns were endless, chanted under the lead of several priests, grand and magnificent, invoking the true power belonging to the gods.

"What is going on?!" Hermes asked, distracted.

"They are Singers." Ouroboros was also praising the Sun; hearing Hermes's confusion, he turned his head to answer.

"Singers?" Hermes's tone surged with intense incomprehension; there was a thin film obstructing him, preventing him from understanding everything before him.

"Sequence 9, Singer." Chumen reminded him at the right moment.

"Sequence 9?!" Hermes's eyes lit up, and everything became clear.

"You know about Sequences?" A voice came from afar, and a figure appeared before the three of them.

The newcomer wore a deep black robe, had shoulder-length black hair, and a face somewhat similar to the Ancient Sun God's, but more handsome and dashing; his eyes were also black, with heavy Shadow faintly visible.

His clothing was extremely exquisite, with silver threads and complex patterns, accompanied by accessories that could be called gorgeous.

"Sasriel, why did you come over?" Ouroboros blinked, confused. "Are the Lord's God's Kingdom city buildings finished?"

Sasriel's face darkened, and he coughed twice. "I am here to receive guests."

"Oh," Ouroboros nodded slightly. "Then I will leave first; my mural is not yet finished."

Ouroboros refocused his attention on the stone tablet in his hand, gesturing with one hand, completely immersed in his own world.

"Cough, cough, friend, get me two bottles of vodka!" The Dark Angel Sasriel walked closer and whispered.

"..." Chumen opened the Dream Book and took out a bottle of vodka from it.

This Sasriel gave him a very strange feeling; the Ancient Sun God was completely Godhood overwhelming humanity, only having emotional fluctuations when facing those distant memories, more like the Adam in Chumen's impression.

However, this Sasriel, who was a King of Angels, gave him a feeling of being extremely rich in humanity, even more so than Ouroboros.

Perhaps this was the meaning for which he was created...

Clearly, Chumen preferred dealing with him in this state.

"Hiss! Good wine!" Sasriel gulped down a large bottle, "Baye-Hali!"

Chumen simply grabbed a handful of Dream Phosphor from the Dream Book and stuffed it into Sasriel's wine bottle; the Dream Phosphor rippled, and the wine inside was actually refilled.

"What a convenient ability!" Sasriel exclaimed; before the Dream Phosphor extinguished, the wine would not be completely consumed.

"I can't let him take this away." Sasriel took another full gulp, then carefully put the bottle of wine away.

The Sun might have the ability to obtain such things from the old era, but that wine would definitely not have the effect of neutralizing madness.

Chumen was demonstrating his own value.
