Chapter 7: All Acquaintances

~7 min read 1,234 words

"The main body gave you a return gift, but I cannot just let it go at that." He thought for a moment, and finally fished out a stone slate.

"I do not possess the power of the main body, but this item is temporarily under my stewardship."

"I do not know how you came to know of Sequences, but I can let you see the true Sequences."

Sasriel was quite decent; in this treacherous world, knowledge is nearly equivalent to power.

Moreover, this is an era where even Sequences have yet to spread, making such knowledge all the more precious.

"As it happens, I need this knowledge." Chumen did not refuse. This knowledge had limited use for him; after all, he could not walk a Sequence Pathway. The Ancient Sun God likely understood this point, which was why Sasriel was able to bring the Blasphemy Slate before him.

"This is also a part of the plan," Sasriel said, and Chumen nodded slightly.

Perhaps Sasriel had the intention of repaying him, but it also involved this cooperation.

For instance, the Moon and the Sun, and their adjacent Pathways.

This was the bargaining chip for the Sun's side to win over the other two parties.

"Oh..." Chumen seemed to have thought of something. He looked at Hermes, sensed the infinite longing in his heart, and nodded gently, saying, "How much you can see depends on yourself."

"Thank you, two Angels!" Hermes bowed deeply at ninety degrees, nearly kneeling before the two. Chumen once again grabbed a cluster of Dream Phosphor and stuffed it into Sasriel's hand.

Sasriel blinked and nodded gently, not minding.

"Begin." Sasriel completely opened the Blasphemy Slate. The hazy Shadow dissipated, revealing the grayish-white slate.

It was mottled and ancient, having weathered the vicissitudes of time, and was inscribed with a peculiar script that could be understood at a single glance.

"Sun Pathway: Sequence 9, Singer..."

Wearing the Sage's Robe, Chumen's recording of knowledge reached a terrifying level; he finished interpreting the Blasphemy Slate without any pressure.

"Sequence 0..." This was a rare thing that could make Chumen take it seriously.

"Come to think of it, I can now create Blasphemy Cards!"

A strange thought rose in Chumen, but he soon shook his head. He was not that Emperor who could even make a move on a Witch; it was better not to steal the limelight.

He raised his head and saw that Hermes was still interpreting it in a state of intoxication.

"That is enough." At a certain moment, the Blasphemy Slate was once again shrouded in a layer of thick Shadow, and Sasriel put it away.

"Phew!" Hermes sobered up and bowed again to thank Sasriel and Chumen.

"A complete God's Pathway, and other Sequence Pathways that can reach the Demigod level." Hermes was not Chumen after all, and could not interpret all the information in such a short time.

Therefore, he made a trade-off, obtaining the complete Pathway he belonged to, as well as knowledge of Sequence 4 and below for the other Pathways.

"The dissemination of knowledge should be handled with caution," Chumen said to Hermes, not without a hint of advice.

"Yes!" Hermes snapped out of the impact of the massive amount of mystical knowledge.

"I, Hermes, swear to follow Mr. Angel to the death! Human history shall also forever engrave the honorable name of Mr. Angel!"

Hermes knelt on one knee directly, bowing his head to seek instruction from Chumen.

It was no longer a virtual personality, but the real Hermes.

Chumen was startled, then smiled and nodded, "You may also call me Dream."

"Yes!" Hermes firmly remembered this name.

"Go now. Your knowledge is enough for humanity to truly possess the power of self-preservation," Chumen said. Hermes was an excellent follower, but in his current state, he should return to the human city-states.

Chumen used the Ancient One's Glove to send Hermes directly back to the place where the two first met.

"Apologies, I may have disrupted your plans," Chumen said to Sasriel.

This knowledge was the best means for the Sun God to gather human believers.

"This is the reward you are owed," Sasriel did not mind. "The might of a god is also enough to make all humans believe."

Hermes being able to obtain such a massive amount of mystical knowledge was naturally because of Chumen. As he had said, Chumen's honorable name would surely be engraved in the history of human mysticism, and countless humans would become Chumen's Faith Anchor.

"However, your abilities are very similar to a Miracle Invoker," Sasriel glanced at the Ancient One's Glove, then swept over the Dream Book, "whether it be Fate or Wish."

So, they suspect that I have a connection with that Lord of the Mysteries... Chumen realized.

The Ancient Sun God must be able to see the disharmony in Ouroboros's Fate and guess the function of the Dream Book, thus inevitably associating it with the Fate Beacon.

But Chumen knew it had nothing to do with that, so he did not deny it, merely smiling.

"Why not take me to visit your God's Kingdom?" Chumen was quite looking forward to this Sun God's God's Kingdom, and there was a high probability he could see some familiar people here.

Sasriel readily agreed, hosting a guest while also slacking off.

"Yo, Sasriel, who is this? He's almost as handsome as me!" The two had only walked a few steps when they saw a red-haired knight in black armor walking toward them.

He was young and handsome, his expression as vibrant as his flying red hair.

"Medici!" Sasriel said sharply, "He is a guest."

"A guest?" Medici raised an eyebrow and looked at Chumen with a Provoke, giving one the urge to punch him.

"Your acting is very successful." Chumen even sensed a Provoke on a mystical level; if two Angels of the same Sequence 2 stood before him, the one he would attack first would definitely be this red one.

"This is not acting, He... is like this by nature," Sasriel said helplessly.

Medici's expression changed slightly, as he saw from Sasriel's attitude how much he valued Chumen.

This made him very curious.

He wanted to say something more, but was interrupted by a terrifying Storm.

It was thunder as terrifying as a natural disaster, its silver-white light turning the sky above the three of them into another world.

"Medici, you stand still!" A voice like the roar of a monster sounded, and a humanoid natural disaster wreathed in wind and thunder appeared on the horizon, his dark blue hair dancing wildly in his rage.

"He's here, brother," Medici did not run, but leaned toward Sasriel, forcing Sasriel to wave his hand to block the thunder.

One couldn't let a guest be struck by lightning, could they?

"Leodero, you have offended an important guest of our Kingdom of God! Now I punish you to sing a song to appease the guest's anger!"

"You!" The tall and rugged Leodero's expression changed, his teeth gritted, and even Sasriel's face twitched.

"I believe it is his nature now," Chumen sighed. Hearing that roar just now, Chumen could already judge what level of Ocean Singer this Leodero was; once he opened his mouth, the lethality would definitely be full.

And Medici was not beaten to death entirely because he was strong enough, and had the Ancient Sun God as his backing.
