Chapter 242: Capturing a Mage

~4 min read 650 words

Luo Qi was certain that his father could not be entirely a Class B1 strong-healing type Telepath; he did not know how his father had hidden this part of his characteristics during the Mind Rating. Luo Qi vaguely sensed that this might be because his genes produced an enhanced version; he spent a brief moment pondering his father's series of behaviors, perhaps because of a sense of guilt toward him. His father treated Telepathy more or less like a hereditary disease.

But he did not have many resources to ponder this question; these matters could be left for when he was bored out of his mind. Luo Qi blocked one of his father's actions, expending several souls to trap his father again. In another layer of vision, Luo Qi dug out another Mind Mage.

This time there was no embarrassment; in other words, Luo Qi had no ethical dilemma, driving straight in and brutally tearing the Mind Mage's Yajian completely apart.

The Mage himself had originally erected a barrier of self-protection, but Luo Qi now had abundant resources, and he sent several souls to violently penetrate the Mage's ramparts. Luo Qi was practically strolling through the garden of the Mage's brain, discovering many scenes of applause with peculiar perspectives. Luo Qi had originally been carelessly poking at those solid images; if the situation were described using human theory, it would be like looking down at a lower-dimensional space from a higher dimension.

However, when a large number of third-party perspective images rolled across Luo Qi's field of vision, Luo Qi felt a chill. He finally understood why the required textbooks for elementary Mind Mages clearly emphasized the privacy code for Mind Mages. He had only browsed through it in the library, remembering most of it poorly, and the small part he did remember made him scoff. Now he was dumbfounded to discover that the code was not entirely about restraining Mind Mages, but also about protecting them; for instance, he clearly discovered a person with voyeuristic tendencies.

By comparison, knowing nothing about other people's privacy was truly a happy thing.

Luo Qi withdrew his Yajian and switched to several souls, which crawled like reptiles through most of the Mage's recent memories.

Luo Qi absorbed all the information, and several soul-laborers even took the initiative to help him confirm the key information; he entered that memory with gratitude.

A dozen silent figures flashed past him, most with their heads bowed; one person suddenly turned his face to look at him, giving Luo Qi a start.

"I hope you understand that our primary target is Du Zhengyi."

Luo Qi was dazed for a moment, sluggishly realizing that this was someone else's memory, but suddenly seeing his father's face really caused him a bit of a shock.

But there were other reasons; the third wave of Psychic Beast attacks had already begun. Although the passage of time could differ from the outside world, it was ultimately limited. He diverted a large part of his Yajian to resist together with other Society souls, and his speed of thought slowed down significantly; his brain seemed to have become much duller.

He endured and did not replicate more of his own consciousness; he was too sleep-deprived, and his energy was already limited.

"Is this Venerable Fan's intention?" Luo Qi heard "himself" ask. He felt doubt and a trace of fear from the Mage's main consciousness.

Luo Qi's own body also swept past an unbearable anger.

Luo Ruian did not reply to him at all.

"Let me see the Seal Beast again," the Mage said weakly. "I haven't even used a Psychic Beast; can you guarantee that those things are fine?"

"Of course, prioritize the safety of our own people," Luo Ruian said, looking at him sarcastically. "Do you want to see the Yajian or the living creature?"

"The living entity," the Mage said, full of worry.
