Chapter 243

~4 min read 800 words

"Isn't it less of a psychological burden to use them if you don't know what they really look like?" Luo Ruian asked. This time he seemed to be offering genuine advice, his expression as gentle as usual, the mockery from just a moment ago gone.

"If I don't know what they really look like, there's no way to better understand their muscular strength," the Mage said vaguely.

"I've already given you their parameters," Luo Ruian said. "You can't truly discern muscular strength just by looking with your eyes, and you certainly won't understand their level of agility."

What Luo Ruian said made more sense; this was an obvious fact.

But the Mage still persisted, "I must see them."

Luo Qi's primary Yajian sensed the Mage's timidity; this was a person who often hesitated, but a more resolute force had reinforced his attitude. Luo Qi could not fathom why this voyeuristic Mage was so insistent on seeing the Seal Beast with his own eyes, but there was no time to trace where this more resolute force originated. He waited quietly for the conversation in the surface memory to continue.

Since the souls had specifically marked this memory for him to see, it meant that the Mage had ultimately seen the Seal Beast. It was fortunate, too, as this gave Luo Qi a chance to take a look at what the Seal Beast used as the main force of attack actually looked like, and how many there were.

Luo Ruian was still somewhat reluctant, but clearly, the nameless Mage's persistence made him hesitate to the point of preparing to take a half-step back.

"Fine, follow me," Luo Ruian said.

Luo Ruian turned his head to lead the way, and Luo Qi saw the back of his father's head through someone else's eyes; the feeling was truly quite strange.

Now he gradually noticed the surrounding environment. It was not yet dark, and they were in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. Luo Qi speculated that the factory must be between the urban area and the Ancient Town.

Luo Ruian walked a few steps ahead, but gradually his pace slowed down again. He turned his head, and Luo Qi saw hesitation in his eyes.

He found it a bit strange. Although his father had always been a gentle person in his impression, he never hesitated when doing things; he was never one to be indecisive or wavering.

His father looked in the direction they had come from, as if checking to see if anyone could hear their conversation.

"Xingyuan, I will advise you one more time. I know how you view me, but I am doing this for your own good; do not go to see the Seal Beast," Luo Ruian said in a low voice, then glanced in a certain direction.

Luo Qi had just thought that the direction was not where the dozen or so Mages were standing, and he wondered what was there. The owner of this Yajian turned his head reflexively; a middle-aged male Mage walked into the factory gate. He looked like a very decent and imposing person, and Luo Qi did not recognize who this was. However, the Mage recognized the newcomer at a glance; he almost twitched, "Venerable Fan?"

"Did you think I would be the boss?" Luo Ruian smiled and said.

Xingyuan looked into his eyes, nervously tugging at his clothes several times, "I know you can influence the Venerable; it's hard to say who is the real Venerable."

Luo Ruian still smiled gently, "Don't be silly. The Venerable is not like you, having such low-level flaws that can be used as leverage. How could I possibly influence the Venerable?"

Xingyuan's blood pressure spiked sharply, and even Luo Qi felt extremely uncomfortable because of it.

"Look, you are an old-school Scholar, researching the Ancient Secret Language in the Society, plus you have that voyeurism for human reproductive activities; you are only suited for such small things," Luo Ruian said in a low voice, lowering his gaze as well, not looking at Xingyuan in an aggressive manner. "That is why I suggest you do not go to see the Seal Beast."

Luo Qi's curiosity was piqued. He could see that it was his father who had forced this Mage to join Fan Shi's group. Xingyuan might be proficient in the Society's Ancient Secret Language, but as a Scholar-type Mage, he was indeed not suited for this. Perhaps this was why he was able to be the first one to pry this Mage away from the Magic Array; his will was softer than others. But why did his father not want Xingyuan to see the Seal Beast? Could it be because the super-sized bat could scare this man into a heart attack?
