Chapter 262: Battle of the Aliens (2)

~6 min read 1,010 words

Luo Qi concentrated his mind, calmly controlling the range of the flames to thoroughly incinerate the dead Alien Seal Beast, carefully inspecting the remaining residue. Beads of sweat formed slightly on his forehead; several Seal Beasts jumped out from the house and the eaves one after another. Luo Qi raced against time to work on the task at hand, and a bloody stench wafted out.

He suddenly raised his head. Light flickered in the air; Du Zhengyi's fighting was extremely silent, and his movements were as fluid as flowing clouds and water. Even though Luo Qi could smell the scent of human blood, he could not see a single trace of sluggishness in Du Zhengyi's movements. Light and shadow, floating between brightness and darkness, flashed by, and there was no sign that Du Zhengyi was injured.

Luo Qi quickly checked once to ensure that this Alien Seal Beast had no eggs left, then stood up. Du Zhengyi violently kicked a Seal Beast away. Luo Qi could tell that Du Zhengyi must have used Auxiliary Magic; Du Zhengyi's posture looked very relaxed, yet this kick was delivered with great force. If it had landed on a person, their intestines would likely have been ruptured, and the Alien Seal Beast was also sent flying straight away.

But just at the moment the Seal Beast was about to hit the wall, Luo Qi saw it clearly: the thing adjusted its posture in mid-air, landing on the wall with all four limbs. Its body relied on the impact force cushioned by its limbs and joints, using the force of kicking off the wall to leap back, heading straight for Du Zhengyi. Luo Qi watched, dumbfounded; this situation was somewhat like the cats he was familiar with. When a cat jumps from a high place to the ground, it also twists its body to land on all fours, and its entire body's cartilage coordinates to cushion the impact it receives.

This kind of evil thing, which gathers the characteristics of numerous creatures, has been used for slaughter from the day it was born.

Luo Qi also saw clearly that even with the help of Auxiliary Magic to strengthen his power, Du Zhengyi could not possibly win against these things in hand-to-hand combat. Under the pre-set commands of a Mind Mage, they stared at Du Zhengyi with bloodshot eyes, biting and tearing like mad dogs.

Du Zhengyi's use of his blade was extraordinarily fluid. The long blade in his right hand moved with wide, sweeping motions, wielding a two-handed sword with one hand, his momentum like a rainbow. He held a short, sharp Armor Piercer in his left hand; the long blade in his right hand created opportunities, while the ancient dagger in his left hand, used for breaking armor, was the key to victory. Luo Qi saw his right-hand blade sweep away three Alien Seal Beasts blocking his front with a sharp aura, and he kicked one of them away; at this moment, the right-hand blade suddenly vanished. His freed right hand grabbed a tentacle of a Seal Beast—this Seal Beast had just been grabbing his long blade—and the Armor Piercer in his left hand accurately stabbed into the vital point behind the Seal Beast's tentacle.

Luo Qi knew that to kill a Seal Beast, that was the only vital point, but after all, Du Zhengyi was alone. At the same time, a third Seal Beast gripped Du Zhengyi's forearm. Luo Qi's heart was suddenly gripped tight; he knew the physical parameters of these Seal Beasts, and their grip strength was astonishing.

At that very moment, Luo Qi was still counting on Du Zhengyi to have a marvelous performance and ultimately be able to turn danger into safety on the battlefield. However, in the flickering firelight, he dazedly saw the Alien's fingers closing on Du Zhengyi's right forearm. In the silent night, the sound of bones breaking was so chilling that it made Luo Qi's scalp tingle, and he blurted out, shouting, "Du Zhengyi!"

Du Zhengyi let out a muffled groan; clearly, the pain exceeded the limit he could endure. But then he made no further sound, and what made Luo Qi's spine chill even more was that the right-hand blade appeared in Du Zhengyi's hand again.

Luo Qi opened his mouth in astonishment; the air that had burned the Seal Beast was still hot, and that hot, scorched-smelling air surged into Luo Qi's lungs. Du Zhengyi's left-hand Armor Piercer was pulled back and stabbed in reverse toward the Seal Beast that had the opportunity to crush his arm.

The strike missed; the Seal Beast's agility was like a ghost, and it retreated suddenly. But this strike of Du Zhengyi's was indeed a feint; his attention was on his right hand. As the Seal Beast retreated, the long blade in Du Zhengyi's right hand turned into a spear, stabbing along the trajectory of the Seal Beast's retreat.

Luo Qi heard a strange scream like fingernails scraping against a coffin lid—the fourth Seal Beast killed by Du Zhengyi. However, Du Zhengyi's right arm should have been broken, yet he used his right hand as if he were not injured at all; even with Auxiliary Magic, the bones were bearing the same pressure.

"Brother," Luo Qi couldn't help but shout, "do you not want your arm anymore?"

Before his words had faded, a blur passed before his eyes; the shadows of two Alien Seal Beasts appeared in front of him, behind Du Zhengyi.

"Don't..." Luo Qi rushed out violently, but it was too late; Du Zhengyi, who was in the middle of an attack, had no way to look after his back. Two Seal Beasts grabbed his two arms, and the sound of bones shattering sounded clear and terrifying in the Mage's ears.

"No, no, no, no..." Luo Qi screamed; he could see that those Alien Seal Beasts were going to crush every inch of Du Zhengyi's bones. His cold sweat instantly soaked his clothes, as if he were the one about to be tortured to death.
