Chapter 263: Battle of the Aliens (3)
Luo Qi's head grew hot, and he rushed forward. Of course, the moment he rushed forward, he realized that Du Zhengyi would not be killed by the Alien Seal Beast just like that; he possessed Magic knowledge that Luo Qi could not yet imagine, his technique for using Magic was refined to perfection, and furthermore, it was not as if he lacked the power to drive Magic, nor was he without the courage to use it.
But... but once that moment arrived, it would all be too late; this would become Du Zhengyi's final battle.
In the world of Yajian, Luo Qi summoned, and the diligent Society Ghosts offered up calculated whirlwind angles and wind speeds; dozens of data points were completed by ten Ghosts, and he used them exactly as ordered. If it were before, he would still have had reservations, as mechanically following others' Yajian to use his own body and power was not necessarily smooth. But now that the situation was critical, he could only attend to the immediate.
With the help of the power of hand gestures, he controlled the wind direction in his Yajian, extending both hands toward the Seal Beast. The wind arose from the tranquil air, and in an instant, the air around him was sucked away; as new air rushed in to fill the void, Luo Qi felt a moment of suffocation. Fortunately, this operational error did not cause catastrophic consequences.
The swirling gale twisted the Psychic Beast's body, and the Psychic Beast lost its balance. Du Zhengyi responded quickly, immediately seizing this opportunity. The Psychic Beast had an astonishing grip, and in the high winds, it would not let go of the point it had already seized for no reason. Leveraging the force provided by Luo Qi, Du Zhengyi slammed his arms together, not only avoiding the outcome of having his arms ripped off, but also crossing his two forearms in front of him, where two narrow-bladed short knives had suddenly appeared in his hands.
The blades accurately pierced the necks of the two Seal Beasts, and Du Zhengyi twisted his wrists, deepening the fatal wounds.
The disgusting smell of rotten cabbage rushed at him once again. Luo Qi could guarantee that after tonight, he would only be able to eat meat for at least a month, and would feel nauseous at the mere smell of greens. But regardless, he breathed a sigh of relief, secretly feeling a bit of admiration for Du Zhengyi in his heart. He didn't know if other Battle Mages could all push their bodies to this extent; most Mages were so lazy they wouldn't even pick up their own rice bowls, making the bowls fly over to them instead. He even developed an unrealistic hope that perhaps the two of them, working together, could wipe out all the Seal Beasts.
Having killed two more Seal Beasts, Du Zhengyi turned his head back. Luo Qi was just about to ask how his arms were—he clearly should have had multiple fractures, so how could he still use them as if nothing were wrong? But the expression on Du Zhengyi's face stunned him. Luo Qi froze, and Du Zhengyi roared in a stern, harsh voice, "Luo Qi, run!"
Luo Qi's heart skipped a beat. Du Zhengyi rushed toward him; in fact, the distance between the two of them was less than two meters, and at Du Zhengyi's speed, he could have crossed it in an instant, but a row of black shadows was faster than him. Luo Qi hadn't even seen where they came from before Du Zhengyi was already blocked by the Seal Beasts, and one Seal Beast was facing Luo Qi alone.
Not knowing how much certainty he had, Luo Qi felt that she—she was a female. She was indeed a size smaller than the other Aliens, and her insect-like form even had a certain flair in her every gesture. Luo Qi couldn't say whether it was beautiful or not; after all, there were bound to be differences in cross-species aesthetics, but he just felt that he had been singled out by the Queen. They must have evaluated them; although Du Zhengyi was their primary target, they had suddenly discovered that Luo Qi was both easy to deal with and capable of causing them trouble, and without needing a very complex strategy, they could conclude that Luo Qi should be taken out first.
Luo Qi took half a step back. He didn't run; he couldn't outrun an Alien Seal Beast. He stared at the Seal Beast that was closing in on him, which seemed to be observing him as well. On the monster's large black head, Luo Qi saw a line of patterns; he hadn't seen such things on the other Seal Beasts. They looked like natural textures, or perhaps etchings, and the patterns looked somewhat like intertwined vines.
"Wind, Luo Qi," Du Zhengyi said anxiously. He was now completely at a disadvantage, struggling to hold on. "Use the gale."
He reminded Luo Qi that Luo Qi could rely on his own uncontrollable wind-fanning ability to win himself a chance at survival.
But Luo Qi seemed to hear nothing. He stared blankly at the Alien Queen. The ghostly beast tilted its head with a certain elegance, as if mocking Luo Qi. Seeing no reaction from Luo Qi, Du Zhengyi finally became anxious, but the more he rushed to fight, the more cautiously the Seal Beasts tangled with him—neither delivering a killing blow nor letting him go. It was as if they had made up their minds to let him watch Luo Qi be killed first before they dealt with him in earnest.
Luo Qi sluggishly thought of the Secret Language for the gale. Just as he hesitated to gather his power, the Alien Queen sensed it. She extended her long, black mechanical claws, and as if caressing him, the claws touched Luo Qi's abdomen. The softness of the human abdomen made her emit a sound like laughter, her tentacles trembling, and Luo Qi suddenly realized she was deliberately imitating human laughter.
In the very moment Luo Qi was distracted, her claws plunged into his stomach. Luo Qi looked down at this scene in disbelief; the intense pain was even delayed for a moment before it arrived.
Luo Qi opened his mouth, every breath accompanied by a sharp, stabbing pain. That thing emitted another burst of mocking laughter, viciously stirring the fingers inserted into Luo Qi's abdomen, the movement exactly the same as when Du Zhengyi killed the Alien monsters. Luo Qi finally let out a scream, and Du Zhengyi, over there, faltered in his movements; an Alien he had been stepping on reached back and snapped his leg bone.
"Save... save me... my intestines..." Luo Qi gasped and screamed, "Brother, please save me..."
Du Zhengyi kicked the Alien away and completely abandoned his cold weapon.
The Seal Beast tangling with him also seemed to sense that a great change was imminent, and its posture became grave. Du Zhengyi took a deep breath and began to open his layers of tightly sealed Consciousness Barrier, preparing to accept the fate he was bound to accept.
Who would have thought that, at this very moment, his Yajian would feel as if it had been kicked.
He was startled; it was a Yajian he was familiar with, lively, bumping against the levee on the periphery of his Yajian. Separated by layers of barriers, they could not communicate, but he could feel that the Yajian held no particularly serious fear, nor despair, and certainly no intention of begging him for help. This feeling was just like them conspiring to trick someone; he hadn't performed very well, and had been secretly kicked by Luo Qi.
He hesitated. Luo Qi was still there crying and screaming as if he were dying, even beginning to beg the Queen to spare his life. Du Zhengyi didn't know what to do; it was certain that Luo Qi was seriously injured, and the smell of blood was so thick it made his spine chill. If he really didn't act, Luo Qi could die at any moment. But in the world of Yajian, Luo Qi's Yajian was cheerfully soothing him, as if assuring him that everything was completely under control.
