Chapter 273: Progenitor (3)

~4 min read 659 words

Luo Qi watched the creature appearing at the entrance of the Pyramid in horror; a wave of fury from the depths of the Queen's memories swept across Luo Qi's spine, while Luo Qi stood as if petrified, his own emotions becoming numb under the immense impact.

He stared blankly as the Queen's army stood completely motionless in a circular formation; the deity beneath the Pyramid gazed majestically at Luo Qi, and Luo Qi could not help but feel a sense of desolation and terror from the bottom of his heart. The deity commanded loudly, "Kneel," the voice like a booming bell. That sound was not a sound, but a powerful stream of Yajian, resounding through the Mental Space composed of tens of thousands of souls.

Fear jolted Luo Qi awake from his numbness, and only then did he discern that the deity was not speaking to him; his perspective was overlapping with the Queen's, and the god was not piercing through the thickness of memory to stare directly at him. Luo Qi gasped in relief within the Consciousness World; the Queen emitted a sharp, high-pitched cry using the membranes on her abdomen, and tens of thousands of angry Alien creatures responded in unison to the sound, the Queen looking down upon the deity emerging from the Pyramid in her fury.

The god did not attack; he repeated his command once more, "Kneel."

Luo Qi observed in shock as the power of Yajian poured down from the peak of the deity like a mountain torrent. Luo Qi understood: there was no need for war at all.

A portion of the Queen's consciousness was forcibly taken over by an external consciousness; an individual capable of controlling tens of thousands of minds, her will was naturally incomparably firm, yet she still could not resist the invasion of the external thought. The competition between the two consciousnesses made her body tremble, yet fate was inescapable. One of her legs, covered in black armor, buckled, followed by the second.

Luo Qi could not accurately describe the immense shock received throughout the entire Alien Mental Network, nor did he attempt to discern whether this race also felt the shame of defeat; instead, he vaguely sensed the Alien creatures' eager adoration. Such a race had a natural tendency to submit to those with powerful consciousness; their submission to the Queen was less about her and more about their submission to the most powerful consciousness.

If this were a struggle between two queens, the outcome would be favorable for the continuation of the species, but Luo Qi tasted the acrid flavor of frustration in the Queen's emotions. She knelt on the unclean earth, clearly realizing that the deity disdained to take over her tribe; this was not a ritual of succession for the throne in her world.

Luo Qi realized it as well; a foolish, fawning sense of adoration flooded the Mental Space like a ripple of whispers, wanting to offer up their own heads. But what had walked out from beneath the Pyramid was a god; how could such a transcendent existence care about a primitive race on the earth? Luo Qi waited in horror for the moment the population would be culled; the massacre began silently.

From the Queen's perspective, what was happening was like a nuclear bomb of thought; the god's will overwhelmed everything, surpassing the Queen's authority of thought and the instinctual consciousness of the individual creatures. The sickle of slaughter swung directly at the level of consciousness; minds shut down bodily functions directly, breathing stopped, metabolism ended, consciousness terminated.

Luo Qi observed, trembling, as tens of thousands of clamorous consciousnesses fell silent in an instant; the entire world seemed to have been suddenly muted. He counted the numbers; no more than one hundred Alien creatures remained alive.

He realized then that this was not as simple as controlling the population size; the Alien creatures had effectively been wiped out as a race.
