Chapter 274: The Gods

~4 min read 685 words

The world suddenly became empty, and the Queen's shrill scream pierced through half of Luo Qi's soul.

He had never experienced such deep despair and pain before; Luo Qi knew the Queen longed for a battle, that she would rather perish together in a war against the gods. Yet, reality lacked even that shred of tragic beauty; overwhelming power had completed the slaughter with ease, as simple as stepping on a bug.

Luo Qi passively followed her as she counted the numbers; the surviving tribes numbered no more than three digits. The mental world she was familiar with was empty at this moment, and the mental trauma carved into it had almost evolved into something tangible.

If living beings could truly turn into vengeful spirits because of hatred, then Luo Qi dared to say, it would certainly be at this very moment.

"Why?"

Luo Qi "heard" the Queen ask, as if in accusation.

The Alien god did not answer her at all, as if she were not even worth acknowledging, even though she had just experienced a massacre and her race had just been essentially wiped out. This feeling was not good at all; Luo Qi felt that even when Germany was carrying out genocide, they at least had a sense of accomplishment, right? It shouldn't be as indifferent as harvesting a wheat field—cutting the wheat, putting down the sickle, and squatting by the field to smoke a cigarette, right?

However, Luo Qi, who had been hit hard today, had very limited sympathy left; compared to this business of others, Luo Qi's own jaw had not yet closed.

He was certain that the one standing here should be the Progenitor Mage who had arranged for the afterlife; he could not accept the fact that the Progenitor Mage was actually an Alien creature. Conversely, that meant the Creator of Mages was a high-level Alien creature.

God is an Alien creature—how many people could accept this? If everything is arranged and everything has a reason, where does the reason for all these arrangements lie?

To say the least important thing, Luo Qi was not even qualified to mock Alien creatures for being ugly like bugs today. Because conversely, in the eyes of the Alien creatures, they were the Alien creatures, and they also looked very ugly, like monkeys.

Did the monkeys make Alien creatures in the image of bugs, or did the bugs make Alien creatures in the image of monkeys?

Luo Qi's head was about to explode!

Just at this moment, an elegant, pleasant, yet impatient female voice rang out, "What are you dawdling for?"

Luo Qi was stunned for a moment; he was certain he had heard it—it was a sound, not Yajian.

Then a woman—a human, definitely a human, and a woman at that—appeared at the entrance of the Pyramid. Luo Qi was so moved he almost had tears in his eyes; the woman's dress was glowing, and she herself seemed to be shrouded in a layer of light. Luo Qi could not see her features clearly, only vaguely feeling that she was tall and beautiful, perfectly matching the image of a goddess in his heart.

Several exquisitely carved jewels floated around her headpiece, following her like inorganic pets. Luo Qi identified them; those jewels were Magic Crystals.

She looked down, "Why are you making them kneel? I thought you were more mature and wouldn't do unnecessary things."

She spoke in the ancient language of Mages, with a strange accent, and Luo Qi could barely understand the general meaning.

"Am I cool today?" the Alien god did not answer her question, but asked back.

"Stupid to death," the goddess answered without hesitation. She looked at Luo Qi, though Luo Qi knew she was actually looking at the Alien Queen. "How long have you been tinkering with this garden? The achievements are still limited."

"Iteration is not that easy," the Alien god said stiffly.

"I don't really like them," the goddess said, though it seemed she took a step back, "Leaving this many is enough; there is no more time. Just make do with them."
