Chapter 283: Rescued

~4 min read 697 words

"Luo Qi." Someone was calling him urgently from a distant place.

Before Luo Qi lost consciousness, he vaguely realized that the person might be his father.

He lost his Yajian, knowing nothing for a period of time that was neither long nor short. However, he was still alive, and his Yajian was not truly lost; this situation was like a computer's foreground program appearing to have ended while the process continued to run in the background, waiting to be awakened.

When he woke up, the sky was already bright, and sunlight filtered through the semi-opaque linen curtains, landing on the Gundam model displayed on the bookshelf. Next to the Gundam was a Lego robot; Luo Qi squinted through his drowsiness, remembering that there was also a magnetic levitation globe next to the Lego robot.

This was his bedroom. He suddenly became clear-headed, sat up abruptly, and felt a nervous palpitation.

Luo Qi's movement to get up was too fast, and his over-fatigued muscles began to ache. The various scratches and abrasions all over his body were not the main point; the wound on his belly that had not yet fully healed made him almost cry out in pain.

Luo Qi hissed as he exhaled, falling back onto the bed in pain. He slowly reached out his hand and bravely "touched" his belly, feeling the thick bandages on his skin, and pressed on them carefully.

Generally speaking, a Mage's Doctor can accelerate the healing of wounds. But if the injured person's physical state at the time is too poor, accelerating the wound healing too much is not appropriate, as it might instead affect the body's recovery. Furthermore, if the injury is truly too severe, there is a limit to even such acceleration.

Luo Qi breathed a sigh of relief and lay back down on the bed; he never imagined his father could turn the tide at the critical moment. Luo Qi was indeed very tired; waking up to find everything over, he lay in the warm bed, needing to think about nothing more.

His brain instinctively resisted considering even a single troublesome matter; he just wanted to lie there like this until the soreness all over his body and the pain from his wounds completely disappeared.

It was just that he knew he couldn't hide at all; those frustrating matters would soon come sweeping back. And a bombshell had arrived; his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

Luo Qi thought of a major problem: the person who ended all of this was his father, not him, and not Du Zhengyi.

Luo Qi could no longer lie still. If his father ended all of this, did that mean something had happened to Du Zhengyi?

Luo Qi didn't have time to use his Yajian to probe. There were two Advanced Telepaths living in his own home—no, two Advanced Telepaths living there besides him; his head hurt just thinking about it.

Their home's Consciousness World was currently like three hurricanes making landfall on a small island; he didn't want to enter the Consciousness World here at all. He would rather endure the pain and crawl downstairs; at least he could have an argument with his parents first.

Luo Qi was unknowingly exploding with anger; he shifted off the bed, clutched his belly, stood up, and walked to the door while grimacing in pain. Sunlight fell into the hallway outside the door, and the stairs were wiped very clean; his mother's germaphobia always flared up in intermittent, impulsive bursts.

He was aggressive, yet forced to walk with a grimace due to the pain. A faint sound came from the living room below the stairs; someone was moving around downstairs, with occasional hushed voices.

Luo Qi quickened his pace, stepped onto the stairs, and walked down while gripping the banister. As he walked down the first flight of stairs, the living room came into view; his mother was standing by the tea table, and a familiar figure was sitting on the sofa.

"Luo Qi?" a familiar voice said. "Why are you up?"

Luo Qi froze. Du Zhengyi was sitting on his family's sofa, and his mother was handing an apple to Du Zhengyi?
