Chapter 284: Family Education
Luo Qi glared at Du Zhengyi, a thousand horses galloping through his heart, dozens of convoluted thoughts turning over in his chest.
He signaled to Du Zhengyi with his eyes.
Du Zhengyi did not grasp his meaning, still holding the apple his Mama had given him, as innocent as a damn Snow White. Luo Qi couldn't bear to watch and covered his eyes, forgetting the wound on his eyelid, and hissed in pain.
"Luo Qi." His Mama glanced at him; although he was seriously injured and had escaped death, her expression still looked very stern.
In their family, his Baba had an easygoing personality and was often a bit unreliable. His Mama treated people gently and was occasionally a bit neurotic, but in truth, her personality was like a needle hidden in silk; Luo Qi sometimes felt that although his Baba's reputation was greater, his Mama was sometimes the backbone of the family.
In other words, his Mama had always been difficult to handle.
"Luo Qi, you went downstairs so recklessly, don't you know you're seriously injured? Besides, how old are you now? Shouldn't you be more mature? Why are you still twitching your eyes and making faces? Can't you just say what you have to say normally?"
Even if Luo Qi had ten million reasons to begin with, after being glared at by his Mama, he felt sheepish out of a conditioned reflex, as if he had been caught red-handed by his Mama when he was a child, sitting improperly and unable to keep his fingers from picking at the stool.
His stomach even began to ache, and the messy words in his heart couldn't be spoken, all of them huddled in his chest. It wasn't that he didn't feel aggrieved; he knew without looking up that his Mama's gaze was likely very gentle. But now, that motherly gentleness weighed heavily on him. There were rights and wrongs in the outside world that Luo Qi could figure out, but his Mama's wishes left him very confused. No matter what he did, it seemed that as long as he made his own choices, there was no way to satisfy his Mama.
Du Zhengyi coughed softly, and Luo Qi turned to look at him; Du Zhengyi felt a bit awkward being dragged into someone else's family dispute. Luo Qi, however, jumped out of the awkwardness; it was much easier to talk to Du Zhengyi.
He walked toward Du Zhengyi, ignoring his Mama's suggestion that he act like a decent adult, "Why are you here?"
Du Zhengyi looked at him gently, holding that apple in his hand, tossing it up and catching it again.
A trace of vigilance flashed through Luo Qi's heart; he still had that basic tacit understanding.
"Mama, where is Baba? Did he bring us back?" Luo Qi asked.
"He went to the Qionglin, he will be back soon," his Mama said, looking indifferent.
"The Alien... I mean, are those Seal Beasts all dead?" Luo Qi asked, "Or have they already been taken back by the Qionglin?"
"Luo Qi." His Mama sighed, as if she were very helpless with him; he was like a little brat who couldn't remember to change his shoes when entering the house even after being taught a hundred times. "As long as an individual exists in the spiritual network, it cannot be killed."
"What?" Luo Qi asked, finding it inconceivable; the very act of discussing professional issues with his Mama was particularly strange.
"It is easy to control one puppet, and it is also easy to control a group of puppets," his Mama said, shoving an apple at Luo Qi, "Eat more fruit. Remember when you were little, you spent an entire afternoon removing a virus from your laptop, and finally succeeded, but that night, in your excitement, you plugged in a USB drive, and the virus re-infected the computer from the drive."
Luo Qi pouted, "Are you trying to say I'm particularly stupid?"
His Mama shook her head, "You silly child, how much effort have Baba and Mama spent teaching you? You don't know anything."
"What?"
