Chapter 429: Making Waves in Still Water

Luo Qi climbed up from the floor, full of suspicion as he summoned a bathroom, stopping only once he had managed to make himself look barely presentable. He changed into a set of clean clothes, fed the cat, moved his bedding to the corner, and fed himself a bean as well. Finally, he added a jacket and coaxed the cat into the inner pocket of his coat.

The corridor was quiet, though in the front section, there were people walking about, interspersed with the sounds of casual chatter. Luo Qi stood at the end of the corridor for a moment, suddenly feeling that his nervousness was groundless; it was the same as every other day, with no one in any particular rush. Given his current status and position... the most important thing was not to be treated like a lunatic!

He changed his mind about going directly to the central hall and turned to knock on Majiang's door.

When Majiang's face, which clearly read "sleep-deprived," appeared at the doorway, Luo Qi began to feel his throat parched and his stomach burning with anxiety.

"Why are you kicking someone's door down so early? Where are your adults?" Majiang asked in an unfriendly tone.

"Why aren't you in the hall? Did the Investigation Team finish questioning you?" Luo Qi asked worriedly. It couldn't be that Du Zhengyi was still being detained, and they had simply come back to sleep because they couldn't wait any longer, could it?

"What? What time do you think it is? Of course they finished," Majiang said, looking confused. But then Luo Qi saw the expression on his face change; it was as if a light had suddenly been switched on, and he was completely awake.

Majiang stepped out of the room, closed the door behind him, and raised both hands to rub his face. Seeing Luo Qi looking at him pitifully, as if hoping he could immediately conjure up that awesome thing, he vaguely felt that things were a bit troublesome. "They finished questioning Du Zhengyi in an hour, I was questioned for about an hour, and Guan Xinyue wasn't interrogated at all. Liu Li insisted that a human little girl shouldn't have to go through that, so they just kept her for a private talk." Majiang finished the story in a few words, knowing that Luo Qi surely didn't want to get tangled up in the details right now. "Don't tell me he never went back!"

Luo Qi shook his head blankly. "Did you see Du Zhengyi come out? Did you see them finish the interrogation?"

"He didn't return to the room where we were waiting. You know he's a person who can Teleport freely; he doesn't need anyone to bring him out. When I was called in for questioning, he was already gone from the hall, and the Mages from the Investigation Team were all waiting to ask me questions, so I assumed he had Teleported out and returned to your room," Majiang said.

"He didn't," Luo Qi said dryly.

"Then he might have returned to his own room; perhaps it was too late and he didn't want to disturb you." As he spoke, the Doctor had already taken two steps to Du Zhengyi's door and knocked.

Luo Qi couldn't wait for him to knock again and turned to walk toward the hall. "No need to knock, I can feel that there is no one inside."

Majiang cursed under his breath, caught up with Luo Qi, and walked quickly toward the hall. "You don't need to worry. What kind of problem could happen here? There are so many Mages and Battle Mages here, plus so many Highland Mages. Besides, they are mainly targeting you, not Du Zhengyi at all."

That was what he said, and the surrounding atmosphere was indeed surging with peace; two Mind Mages, both possessing Telepathy, could perfectly sense the psychological atmosphere of such a large group. It was almost as if the word "safety" was written in big, bright letters here.

"Give it a rest," Luo Qi said, pursing his lips, his face flushed slightly red. "If you really thought that, you wouldn't be walking so fast."

"Fuck," Majiang merely whispered the expletive, offering no rebuttal.
