Chapter 1243: You Aliens (1)

~8 min read 1,585 words

The meeting lasted for a full three hours.

When the final agenda item was discussed and concluded, Yingzhou leaned back against the chair and let out a long breath.

"Let's stop here for today."

Luojia stood up and bowed slightly.

"Father, you have worked hard."

Lu Zhenda also bowed.

"His Majesty, I will go and arrange these matters first."

Yingzhou nodded.

The two left the study.

Selina's holographic projection remained.

"His Majesty, today's meeting minutes have been compiled. Would you like me to read them aloud?"

Yingzhou shook his head.

"No need. Archive them."

"Yes."

Calypso.

This planet was once one of the most prosperous administrative centers of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance.

The migration station was built on the site of the planet's largest former Spaceport.

Under the massive dome, countless Fengqi stood in long lines, waiting for identity registration and work assignment.

Their three eyes were filled with confusion, fear, and unease.

At the highest point of the platform, an official wearing the uniform of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance was looking down at all of this.

His name was Vitasko, the newly appointed immigration officer for Calypso, thirty-seven years old.

"How many today?"

He asked.

The Adjutant beside him quickly glanced at the Data Pad.

"Sir, an estimated one hundred thousand people. Among them, one thousand two hundred are former government officials, four thousand are former military personnel, and the rest are ordinary citizens."

Vitasko nodded.

"Separate the former government officials and military personnel into their own lines. Group the ordinary citizens by age and health status. Prioritize high-quality labor for assignment to resource planets. Those with skills are to be assigned according to their skills. The old, weak, sick, and disabled are to be uniformly relocated to the worst planets."

The Adjutant recorded this quickly.

"Sir, what should be done with those former government officials...?"

Vitasko glanced at him.

"Handle them according to the new laws. Screen them first; execute those with criminal records. Those without criminal records are to be assigned to the most arduous posts. They were used to enjoying themselves before; now it is time for them to pay it back."

"Yes."

After the Adjutant left, Vitasko continued to look down at the long lines.

He saw a Fengqi elder suddenly collapse, and the people around were panicked, but no one dared to step forward to help.

Two Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance soldiers walked over, checked, and then called for a medic.

"Alive."

The medic reported.

"Just dehydrated."

"Give him water, then have him continue to wait in line."

Vitasko said into the Communication Device.

"Do not delay the time."

The medic nodded, fed the elder water, and then let him return to the line.

At two in the afternoon, Vitasko was processing documents in his office when the Adjutant hurried in.

"Sir, someone wants to see you."

Vitasko did not even look up.

"Who?"

"A Fengqi. He says his name is Menaxius, formerly the Minister of Finance of Calypso."

A sneer appeared on the corner of Vitas's mouth.

"Minister of Finance? Interesting. Let him in."

The door opened, and a Fengqi wearing ornate robes walked in.

His three eyes were filled with a fawning smile, and he held an exquisite small box in his hand.

"Officer Vitas, I have long admired your name."

He bowed deeply.

"I am Menaxius, formerly the..."

"I know who you are."

Vitas interrupted him, leaning back against his chair.

"If you have something to say, say it directly."

Menaxius's smile stiffened for a moment, then he said even more obsequiously:

"Sir, I heard that according to the new laws, former government officials are to be assigned to the most arduous posts. I am advanced in years and my health is poor; I truly cannot handle such work. Therefore... I would like to ask you to make an exception."

He opened the small box, inside which were neatly arranged dozens of exquisite Energy Crystals.

"This is a small token of my sincerity."

Menaxius pushed the box over.

"As long as you can provide a little care in the distribution, I would be most grateful. There will be more in the future..."

Vitas looked at those Energy Crystals, his expression showing no change whatsoever.

"Menaxius, do you know what crime bribery is under the new law?"

Menaxius froze for a moment.

"Officer, this... this is just a gift between friends..."

"A gift?"

Vitas let out a cold laugh.

"You, a defeated Alien, and me, an official of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance—what kind of friends are we?"

He pressed the Communication Device on the table.

"Guard."

The door was pushed open, and two fully armed soldiers walked in.

Menaxius's face turned deathly pale in an instant.

"Officer! Officer, spare me! I didn't know... I only wanted to..."

"You didn't know?"

Vitasko stood up and walked in front of him.

"Article 6, Section 3 of the new law: Any Alien who bribes a Human official in any form shall be executed. Such large text, did you not see it?"

Menaxius's legs went weak, and he knelt to the ground.

"Officer! I really didn't know! I beg you to spare my life! I am willing to do anything!"

Vitas looked down at him.

"Take him away. Public execution. Let all Aliens see the consequences of bribery."

The two soldiers grabbed Menaxius and dragged him out.

Menaxius struggled wildly, screaming for mercy, but no one paid him any heed.

Half an hour later, at the Central Plaza of the migration station.

Thousands of Fengqi were gathered together to watch this execution.

Menaxius knelt in the center of the plaza, his three eyes filled with despair.

His hands were tied behind his back, and a Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance soldier holding a Chainsword stood beside him.

Vitasko stood on a high platform, his voice carrying across the entire area through a loudspeaker.

"Look clearly! This man, the former Minister of Finance of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance, attempted to use bribery to obtain special treatment! According to the new law, the crime of bribery is punishable by execution!"

He waved his hand.

A flash of sword light streaked by.

Menaxius's head fell to the ground, and fresh blood gushed out.

A gasp erupted across the plaza.

Many Fengqi turned their faces away, not daring to look at this bloody scene.

Vitas scanned the entire crowd.

"Remember this lesson. The new law is not for show. Obey, and you live. Resist, or try to be clever, and this is the outcome."

He turned and left, leaving behind the blood-soaked ground and a silent crowd.

Three days later, at the Second Mining Area of Aurelia.

This place was once the site of the largest arsenal of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance, now converted into a resource extraction base.

Every day, tens of thousands of Fengqi were sent here to mine ore in harsh conditions.

The mining area director was a Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance man named Heketuo Valentine, forty years old.

He managed everything in this mining area, from production plans to disciplinary enforcement, from material distribution to punitive measures.

"What is today's output?"

He asked.

The Adjutant looked at the Data Pad.

"Director, as of today, only sixty percent of the quota has been completed."

Heketuo frowned.

"Why?"

"The new batch of people is not quite adjusted. Most of them are former clerical and technical personnel who have never done manual labor. The efficiency is very low."

Heketuo let out a cold snort.

"Not adjusted? Then make them adjust. Notify all work sections: those who do not complete their quota today will have their dinner canceled. Those who fail for three consecutive days will be whipped."

"Yes."

In the evening, at the mining area canteen.

Thousands of exhausted Fengqi stood in line to receive their dinner.

Each person received a bowl of soup and a piece of black bread.

But for those workers who did not complete their quota, even this little bit of food was denied.

A young Fengqi stood at the entrance of the canteen, watching those who were eating, his eyes filled with anger and resentment.

His name was Saiweilu, twenty-five years old, formerly an engineer at an Aurelia arsenal, now assigned to the most arduous mining section.

"On what grounds?"

He said in a low voice.

"We used to be engineers, technicians; why should we have to do this kind of manual labor?"

A middle-aged Fengqi beside him pulled him back.

"Keep your voice down, do you not want to live?"

"I am not afraid!"

Saiweilu shook off his hand.

"We must let them know that we are not livestock!"

His voice grew louder and louder, and several other Fengqi who also had not eaten gathered around.

"Right! They cannot treat us like this!"

"We want to see the person in charge!"

"We want to file a complaint!"

The crowd began to gather, and the noise grew louder and louder.

The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance soldiers in the cafeteria immediately became alert.

Captain Kaierdesi led five soldiers and walked in front of the crowd.

"What is the matter?"

Saiweilu stepped forward.

"We want to file a complaint! We used to be engineers, technicians, not manual laborers! You cannot treat us like this!"

Kaierdesi looked at him, his expression not changing in the slightest.

"A complaint? According to the new law, you are miners now. You do not accept it?"

"We do not!"

Saiweilu said loudly.

"We want to see the director! We want to reason!"
