Chapter 1332: Large-Scale Psychic Lethality
Six hours later, the transport ships in orbit began deploying Titans and Knights to the planet's surface.
The seventeen-meter-tall Warhound-class Titans made the earth tremble with every step.
Their Vulcan Mega-bolters and Twin-linked Laser Cannons gleamed coldly under the dark red sunlight, and the Adeptus Mechanicus Runes on their chassis flickered in the firelight.
The Knight Titans of the Tailin Knight House followed closely behind.
Although not as tall as the Warhound-class Titans, the Tailin Knights looked much more agile, wielding Meltaguns and giant Chainswords.
An entire Knight House, two hundred and twenty Knights, lined up behind the third defensive line.
Their appearance left the soldiers of the Ash Star Alliance dumbfounded.
They had never seen such massive war machines, never seen such powerful firepower.
A soldier of the Ash Star Alliance looked at those Titans, his lips trembling.
"That... what is that..."
The Lamenters warrior beside him said without turning his head.
"Knight Mechs, Warhound Titans. The Emperor's wrath."
The soldier asked.
"Can they beat the Zerg?"
The Lamenters warrior looked at him.
"Yes."
Standing beneath a Warhound Titan was a Tech-Priest, wearing red robes and covered in cables, who was performing prayers.
Subsequently, one hundred Warhound-class Titans moved slowly, forming a Steel Great Wall behind the third defensive line.
Two hundred and twenty Knight Titans divided into the left and right flanks.
The entire defensive line, from east to west, stretched for over two thousand eight hundred kilometers.
Trenches, bunkers, artillery batteries, minefields, Titans, and Knights—all defensive forces were spread out along this two-thousand-eight-hundred-kilometer line.
Eight hours later.
The sky of Eridanus III changed color once again.
This time, the number of Zerg was three times that of the last time, or even more.
Spore Cysts poured down like a rainstorm, dense and numerous, blotting out the sky.
Every second, thousands of Spore Cysts impacted the ground, blasting out huge craters and releasing hundreds of Zerg creatures.
But this time, there were even bigger things.
From the starry sky, massive Bio-ships released even larger Spore Cysts.
They were ten times larger than ordinary Spore Cysts; when they hit the ground, it was like a meteorite falling, and the shockwave overturned obstacles for several kilometers around.
From these giant Spore Cysts walked out the Zerg Titan units.
Carnifexes, their bodies covered in thick armor, their huge Scything Talons capable of tearing through armor.
Every step they took made the earth tremble, and every swing of their claws could destroy a bunker.
Zoanthropes, they lined up behind the swarm, their muzzles aimed at the Human defensive line.
"All Titans, fire!"
The Titan Commander ordered.
The Twin-linked Laser Cannons of one hundred Warhound-class Titans fired simultaneously.
Huge Energy Beams traced blinding trajectories through the starry sky, striking the Zerg Titan units.
The armor of the Zoanthropes shattered, and the Scything Talons of the Carnifexes were burned off.
But there were too many Zerg Titans.
They surged out from the Spore Cysts endlessly, like a torrent of steel.
For every one the Human Titans destroyed, three more replaced it from the rear.
"Knight House, charge!"
The commander of the Tailin Knight House ordered.
Two hundred and twenty Knight Titans charged toward the swarm.
Meltaguns sprayed high-temperature flames, burning Termagants and Hormagaunts to Ashes.
Chainswords swung, severing the Scything Talons of the Carnifexes.
But the number of Zerg was thousands of times that of the Humans.
"Blood Angels, attack!"
Sanguinius's wings unfurled, and he charged into the sky.
His Spear spun in his hand, and every swing took the lives of dozens of Gargoyles.
Gargoyles were the Zerg's flying units; they blotted out the sky like dark clouds, attempting to break through the defensive line from the air.
Sanguinius's Spear pierced the chest of a Gargoyle, and he turned to sweep, severing the heads of three Gargoyles.
His wings spread, he flew high into the sky, then dove down, his Spear streaking across the horizon like a meteor, blasting an entire group of Gargoyles into fragments.
An Alien cannon-bug aimed at him. A living ion beam shot out.
Sanguinius dodged to the side, his Spear flying from his hand to pierce the head of the Alien cannon-bug.
He flew over, pulled out the Spear, and continued to fight.
Magnus hovered above the third defensive line, his red hair fluttering in the wind.
His psychic perception covered the entire battlefield; he could "see" the location of every Zerg, could "hear" the psychic fluctuations of every Brain Bug.
"Thousand Sons, Psychic Array!"
He ordered.
One thousand Thousand Sons Space Marines formed ranks around him, creating a massive Magic Array.
Their Psionic Shields connected together, forming a Psionic Barrier covering hundreds of square kilometers, resisting the Zerg's Psionic Attacks.
"Psychic Storm."
Magnus closed his eyes.
His psychic power surged into the Magic Array, and the warriors of the Thousand Sons Legion channeled their psychic power into Magnus.
Red Psionic Lightning crackled around Magnus, growing stronger and denser.
Magnus opened his eyes.
"Release!"
A massive bolt of Psionic Lightning shot from his hand, exploding across the battlefield. The shockwave spread in all directions, covering an area of five hundred kilometers in radius. Termagants, Hormagaunts, Pyrovores... all Zerg creatures were reduced to Ashes under this strike.
A scorched crater several kilometers in diameter was left on the ground, the rocks at its edges melted.
"Continue!" Magnus roared.
A second bolt of Psionic Lightning.
A third.
A fourth.
Every Psychic Storm cleared a vast area.
But the Zerg swarmed in from all directions, quickly filling the gaps.
"Father! Zerg Titans have appeared on the left flank, five of them!"
A Thousand Sons Space Marine shouted.
Magnus turned and looked toward the left flank. Five Hierophants were advancing toward the Knight House's position.
"I will handle it." Magnus raised his hand.
Psionic Lightning shot from his fingertips, striking the head of the first Hierophant. The carapace shattered, Zerg blood sprayed, and the Hierophant collapsed. A second bolt of Psionic Lightning, and the second Hierophant fell. The third, the fourth, the fifth.
Five Hierophants, all killed.
But more Zerg Titans surged from the rear.
