Chapter 1334: Bloody Battle of Eridanus (2)
Central Fortress.
The Bolter in Aketesi's hand fired continuously; from the eastern to the western defensive lines, there was fighting everywhere.
Flames soared into the sky, the sounds of explosions rose and fell, and the shrieks of the Zerg intertwined with the battle cries of the Space Marines.
"Chapter Master, the Blood Angels and the Thousand Sons are launching a full-scale counterattack."
Flavius said.
Aketesi nodded.
"What about the Titans and the Knights?"
"They are still providing fire support; damage is within controllable limits."
"Notify all companies, do not retreat. Not a single step back."
Flavius nodded.
"Yes, Chapter Master."
Sanguinius circled in the air, his gaze sweeping across the entire battlefield, then he spread his wings and flew toward the eastern sector.
He descended from the sky, his Spear piercing the skull of a Ravener.
His wings unfurled, sweeping across a large group of Hormagaunts.
His Spear danced, severing countless Scything Talons.
The warriors of the Lamenters saw the figure of the golden Angel, and their morale soared.
"For Sanguinius!"
They roared.
Sanguinius nodded.
"For the Emperor!"
Magnus hovered in the air, his psionic perception scanning the entire battlefield.
The warriors of the Thousand Sons had begun to exhaust their psionic energy, and their Psionic Shields were beginning to show Rifts.
The Zerg Brain-bugs seized the opportunity to launch an attack, and Psychic Shock waves blasted gaps into the Human defensive lines.
"Cannot stop."
He closed his eyes, extending his psionic perception to its limit.
He could feel the position of every single Brain-bug, thousands of them, distributed in every corner of the battlefield.
"Psychic Tide."
He whispered.
His body began to glow.
Red psionic light surged from within him, spreading outward like a tide.
The Psychic Tide covered the entire battlefield, from east to west, covering the entire battlefield.
The screams of the Brain-bugs rose and fell.
One after another, their Psionic Shields shattered, and their bodies were torn apart by the Psychic Tide.
All Brain-bugs within range were killed.
In orbit, the Communication Device rang.
"Eridanus ground forces, this is Horus. The fleets of the Luna Wolves and the Iron Warriors are expected to arrive in four hours. Hold on."
Aketesi heard the communication, and a surge of strength rose in his heart.
"Lord Horus, we can hold."
He put down the Communication Device and looked at the battlefield that was still burning.
"Notify all companies, hold for another four hours."
"For those we cherish, we die with honor."
More than three hours later.
Above the orbit of Eridanus III, the joint fleet of the Luna Wolves and the Iron Warriors consisted of over six hundred Capital Ships, one thousand two hundred Auxiliary Ships, two thousand assault ships, and twelve Mars-class Battlecruisers.
On the flagship Loyal Soul, Horus stood before the viewing window of the Bridge, looking at the burning starry sky in the distance.
His black Power Armor gleamed coldly under the lights, his face cold and hard.
Behind him, the flagship of the Iron Warriors followed closely, its hull densely packed with artillery.
"Lord Sanguinius and Lord Magnus are still down there."
The Adjutant Dunba walked over.
"Their fleet is currently locked in combat with the Zerg bio-ships in orbit."
Horus nodded.
"Notify Sanguinius, we have arrived."
The communication connected.
"Horus, you finally arrived."
There was a hint of teasing in Sanguinius's voice.
"Any later, and I would have been exhausted to death."
Horus laughed.
"Then this planet should be renamed, what should it be? The Tomb of Sanguinius?"
Sanguinius laughed.
"You try it. Father will not let you off."
Horus put away his smile.
"What is the situation?"
Sanguinius pulled up the star map.
"The number of Zerg Bio-ships is too high; our fleet can barely hold the orbit and cannot counterattack. The Zerg on the ground are already locked in a stalemate at the Second Defense Line."
Horus looked at the star map.
Densely packed red light dots, the Zerg Bio-ships, numbered at least ten thousand.
They were distributed across every orbit of the planet, like a pack of starving wolves.
The fleets of the Blood Angels and the Thousand Sons were split into several pieces, each fighting on its own.
"The firepower of the Iron Warriors is sufficient."
The corners of Horus's mouth curled up slightly.
He turned around to face the officers on the Bridge.
"All ships, enter combat formation. The Luna Wolves are responsible for the left flank, and the Iron Warriors are responsible for the right flank. Target: the Zerg Bio-ships. Sink them."
On the flagship of the Iron Warriors, Commander Pharox stood on the Bridge, looking at the Holographic Star Map.
He was the First Company Company Commander of the Iron Warriors, with a burly physique.
"All Iron Warriors ships, main cannons charge. Target: dense areas of Zerg Bio-ships. Volley fire."
In the Iron Warriors fleet, every ship was equipped with more powerful cannons than ordinary ships.
Their hulls were thicker, their armor heavier, and their firepower more intense.
They were the fleet best at siege warfare in the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance.
The light of the main cannons charging flickered in the starry sky.
Energy readings soared, and the muzzles gathered destructive power.
"Fire."
Three hundred Energy Beams shot out simultaneously.
All the firepower poured into the area where the Zerg Bio-ships were most dense.
The Energy Beams drew blinding trajectories across the starry sky, striking those massive Bio-ships.
In the first volley, twenty Bio-ships were hit.
Carapaces shattered, Zerg blood gushed out, and the massive corpses floated in the vacuum.
In the second volley, another twenty.
The third volley, the fourth volley... the Iron Warriors' volley fire was like a giant hammer, smashing into the Zerg's defensive line one blow after another.
The Blood Angels' fleet seized the opportunity to counterattack.
They flanked from the side, using Light Lances and Macro-cannons to attack those Bio-ships crippled by the Iron Warriors.
The offensive of the Iron Warriors fleet caused the Zerg formation to begin to fall into chaos.
Horus stood on the Bridge of the Loyal Soul, staring at the Holographic Star Map.
The firepower of the Iron Warriors was tearing through the Zerg's defensive line, but the number of Zerg Bio-ships was too high; even after losing hundreds, nearly ten thousand were still fighting.
"Luna Wolves, follow me."
He ordered.
The Loyal Soul broke away from the formation, leading the Luna Wolves' fleet to charge toward the right flank of the Zerg, stabbing into the Zerg's side.
"All assault ships, full speed ahead. Target: the weak points of the Zerg Bio-ships."
The Luna Wolves' assault ship group pounced toward those massive Bio-ships.
They were fast, had intense firepower, and high maneuverability.
They wove through the Zerg's artillery fire, traveling between the asteroid-like Bio-ships.
One assault ship pressed against the side of a Bio-ship, firing Bolters and Laser Cannons at close range.
Another assault ship approached a Bio-ship from below, attacking its belly with Armor-Piercing Rockets.
Carapaces shattered, Zerg blood gushed out, and the body of the Bio-ship began to tilt.
"Luna Wolves, do not get bogged down in the fight. Leave the finishing blows to the Iron Warriors."
Horus's voice echoed in the Communication Device.
"Yes!"
