Chapter 1335: Bloody Battle of Eridanus (3)

~7 min read 1,357 words

"Horus, your firepower is truly fierce. Even I can feel the volley from the Iron Warriors."

Horus laughed.

"That goes without saying. The Iron Warriors' cannons are more useful than your swords."

Sanguinius raised an eyebrow.

"Useful? Do you want to try them out?"

Horus waved his hand.

"No need. I'm afraid I'll make you cry."

"You two, stop messing around. The Aliens haven't been finished off yet."

"Magnus, how is it on your end?"

Magnus said.

"Currently, the Zerg Brain Bugs have been wiped out by us; the rest is just a matter of time."

"Hahaha, then let's strive to resolve the crisis on this planet before Corax arrives."

"Horus, you guy, not bad!"

In the orbit of Eridanus III, the fleet of the Ash Star Alliance was resisting on the edge.

Their remaining warships were few, with only a few dozen left.

Commander Modrak stood on the Bridge of the flagship, his four eyes fixed on the Holographic Star Map, his lips slightly parted, unable to speak.

"General, the firepower of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance... is too fierce."

The Adjutant's voice was trembling.

Modrak did not answer.

He saw the volley from the Iron Warriors; three hundred Capital Ships fired simultaneously, the Energy Beams weaving into a web in the starry sky, tearing the Zerg bio-ships apart one after another.

"They... they are not human," the Adjutant muttered.

Modrak turned to look at him.

"They are not human. They are monsters."

The Adjutant asked.

"General, if they finish off the Zerg and turn around to attack us..."

Modrak raised a hand to stop him.

"They won't."

The Adjutant asked.

"Why?"

Modrak said.

"We are not their enemies. The Zerg are."

He paused.

"But if they want to fight, we cannot stop them."

The Adjutant fell into Silence.

Modrak looked at that burning starry sky, his four eyes filled with fear.

"Remember, never provoke the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance."

The assault ship group of the Luna Wolves lunged toward those massive bio-ships.

They were fast and highly maneuverable.

Weaving through the Zerg's artillery fire, they traveled between the asteroid-like bio-ships.

Just as an assault ship was approaching a larger bio-ship, several thick tentacles suddenly extended from the darkness.

The tips of those tentacles pierced the armor of the assault ship.

The sound of metal tearing was silent in the vacuum, but the alarm inside the ship blared harshly.

"Hull damaged! Multiple breaches! Zerg tentacles have pierced the interior!"

The captain's voice echoed in the Communication Device.

They released a large number of Zerg combat units from the piercing tentacles.

Termagants, Hormagaunts, and even a few Warrior Bugs poured out from the internal conduits of the tentacles, flooding into the corridors and cabins of the assault ship.

They spread like liquid, filling the narrow space in the blink of an eye.

"Boarding! The Zerg are boarding!"

The warriors of the Luna Wolves raised their Bolters, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the Zerg in the corridors.

Bolters roared, and Chainswords swung.

A Luna Wolves Space Marine was tackled by three Warrior Bugs; a Bonesword pierced his Power Armor, and blood sprayed out.

Another Luna Wolves Space Marine used a Chainsword to split the skull of a Warrior Bug, only to be pierced through the chest from behind by another Warrior Bug.

The assault ship's engines were crushed by tentacles, and the hull began to explode.

Fire engulfed everything from within, and the ship turned into fragments, blooming into a Fireball in the starry sky.

None of the dozens of Luna Wolves warriors or naval soldiers on board survived.

"Report casualties!"

Horus's voice rang out in the Communication Device.

"Several assault ships were destroyed by Zerg tentacles; Space Marine losses exceed three hundred."

The Adjutant Dunba's voice was low.

Horus's fist clenched tight.

"All assault ships, maintain distance. Do not get too close. Use Armor-Piercing Rockets to attack the roots of the tentacles; do not give them a chance to release Sili Chong."

The Luna Wolves' assault ship group adjusted their tactics.

They used Torpedoes and Light Lances at medium range to attack the roots of the tentacles.

The tentacles were blown off, Zerg blood gushed out, and the massive tentacles floated powerlessly in the vacuum.

On the flagship of the Iron Warriors, Commander Pharox stared at the Holographic Star Map.

Although there were signs of a decrease in the Zerg's Bio-ships, their growth rate was still increasing.

"All ships, charge main batteries. Target: dense areas of Zerg Bio-ships. Volley fire."

As the Iron Warriors' fleet fired their volley.

Those Bio-ships that had not been hit began to counterattack.

Their Bio-Cannons, massive fleshy organs, extended from the hulls and sprayed highly corrosive Bio-Plasma.

Those Bio-Plasma dragged green trails, carving eerie arcs through the starry sky, and struck the Iron Warriors' ships.

A Frigate of the Iron Warriors was struck on the broadside by Bio-Plasma.

The armor was corroded and penetrated within seconds, internal circuits exploded, and flames gushed from the breach.

The hull began to tilt, and the captain ordered to abandon ship.

Life pods ejected, but a swarm of Sky-Fiends from the Zerg had already pounced, using their Claws to rip open the shells of the life pods, dragging the crew inside out, and tearing them apart in the vacuum.

Another Auxiliary Ship was hit by two Bio-Plasma shots simultaneously; the hull snapped in the middle, the light of the explosion bloomed in the starry sky, and all crew members instantly turned to Ashes.

"General, the Zerg's Bio-Cannons have a very long range. Our ships need to recharge after a volley, and the Zerg use this gap to counterattack."

The Adjutant reported.

Pharox's brow furrowed tightly.

"Notify all ships to adopt rotating fire. One-third of the ships fire, two-thirds stand by. When the Zerg counterattack, the standby ships will return fire immediately."

The Iron Warriors' fleet adjusted their tactics.

The artillery fire no longer volleyed simultaneously but was divided into three groups, firing in turns.

The Zerg's counterattack was suppressed, but many ships were still hit.

"General, our losses are increasing."

The Adjutant said.

Pharox nodded.

"But the Zerg's losses are greater. Continue."

On the "Loyal Soul," Horus watched the Holographic Star Map. The Iron Warriors' firepower was tearing through the Zerg swarm's defensive line, but the Zerg's counterattack also made the Iron Warriors pay a price.

The Luna Wolves' assault ship group had lost over a dozen ships, and the Zerg's tentacle attacks and Bio-Cannons had caused heavy casualties among his warriors.

"Sanguinius, Magnus."

He pressed the Communication Device.

The holographic projections of the two appeared.

"We need stronger firepower. Can your fleets still fight?"

"No problem."

"I can."

Horus thought for a moment.

"Like this. The Luna Wolves and Iron Warriors will launch a frontal assault to draw the Zerg's firepower. The Blood Angels will flank from the left to attack the Zerg's left wing. The Thousand Sons will attack the Zerg's right wing from the right. A three-sided pincer attack to disrupt their formation."

Sanguinius asked.

"What about the Zerg on the ground?"

Horus said.

"Ake is still holding on. As long as the space battle is won, the Zerg on the ground will naturally retreat without support."

Magnus nodded.

"Good. Let's do that."

The fleets of the Luna Wolves and Iron Warriors began a frontal assault.

Artillery fire roared, Light Lances wove into a net in the starry sky, and the Zerg's Bio-ships were destroyed one after another.

The Zerg's Bio-Cannons returned fire, Bio-Plasma carved green arcs through the starry sky, striking the Human ships.

But the Iron Warriors' rotating fire made the Zerg's counterattack much less effective.

The Blood Angels' fleet flanked from the left.

Light Lances and Macro-cannons fired in a volley, striking the Bio-ships on the Zerg's left wing.

The Zerg's tentacles tried to counterattack, but the Blood Angels' assault ship group dodged nimbly, using Torpedoes and Macro-cannons to attack the roots of the tentacles.

The Thousand Sons' fleet flanked from the right.

Conventional firepower continued to output.

Under the three-sided pincer attack, the Tyranid realized that continuing to fight would be a heavy loss, so they began to retreat.
