Chapter 1415: Sons of the People Liberate Wala Star (1)

~8 min read 1,554 words

Orbit of Wala Star, flagship of the Sons of the People Chapter, the "Lieyang".

On the Bridge, Chapter Master Sebastian stands before the observation window, looking at the grey-brown planet below.

Seen from orbit, those Orc Camps look like scars, densely distributed across the plains and valleys.

"My Lord, reconnaissance report."

The Adjutant walks over and pulls up the Holographic Star Map.

"There are one hundred and twenty-seven Orc Buluo of various sizes on Wala Star, with a total Orc population of about eight hundred million and about two hundred million Human slaves. The largest Orc city-state is 'Buluo Fortress', located on the plains near the equator; it is the core stronghold of the Broken Bone Tribe and is inhabited by over two million Orcs."

Sebastian asks.

"How many of our kin were there originally?"

The Adjutant says with a slightly sorrowful tone.

"The report states that Wala Star originally had three billion Humans. After the Orc invasion, through slaughter, enslavement, and abuse, there are about two hundred million still alive, and many of our kin have already... become unrecognizable."

Sebastian's fists clench.

"Notify all companies, excluding those remaining to guard the ships, all Space Marines are to drop pod; in groups of three, disperse to every region of the planet. The Task is to destroy the Orc Buluo, rescue our Human kin, and eliminate every Alien seen!"

The Adjutant stands at attention.

"Yes, my Lord."

Sebastian turns around, facing the Communication Device.

"Armageddon Armored Regiment, prepare to land. You are responsible for assaulting the Orc city-states. The Tailun Family will support ground operations."

A steady voice comes through the Communication Device.

"The Armored Regiment is ready and can enter combat at any time. Let those Aliens feel the Emperor's wrath!"

Sebastian presses the communication key.

"All units, drop pod deployment begins."

The drop pod bay doors of the "Lieyang" open, and rows of drop pods are ejected, dragging long tails of fire as they shoot toward the atmosphere of Wala Star.

Immediately following, the transport ships of the Armageddon Steel Legion detach from the fleet and descend toward the planet's surface.

"Adjutant, you remain on guard!"

"My Lord, you should let me go..."

"No! Those damned Aliens, to actually... actually dare to treat our kin this way! As the leader of the Chapter personally founded by the Emperor, I have an obligation to let the Aliens know they have provoked the wrong enemy!"

Saying this, Sebastian walks into the drop pod, and the hatch closes.

The drop pod detaches from the ship and falls toward Wala Star.

Wala Star, edge of the mountains, Ruike leads a group of over four thousand people, struggling to advance along the mountain road.

They have been walking for an entire night; Weike walks in the middle of the group, maintaining order.

Ruike walks at the very front, his right arm gripping an Energy Pistol, his left sleeve empty and fluttering in the wind.

"Brother Ruike, someone behind has fallen behind."

Weike runs over.

Ruike does not stop.

"We can only do our best to keep them from falling behind, nothing more."

Weike falls into Silence, and the group continues to advance.

Until dawn, when the sun rises from behind the mountain ridge.

Ruike looks back; the Orc convoy is approaching.

There are at least twenty armored vehicles, plus several hundred Orc cavalry.

"They have caught up."

Hearing Ruike say this, Weike's face turns deathly pale.

"What do we do?"

Ruike looks at the mountain road ahead.

"Run into the mountains; their vehicles cannot get in. Hurry! Faster!"

Ruike shouts.

An old man falls, and the person next to him helps him up.

The old man pushes that person away.

"You go, I cannot walk anymore."

That person hesitates.

"Go!"

That person turns and continues to run; the old man sits on the ground, watching the Orc convoy.

The cannons of the Orc armored vehicles fire; Rune Bullets land in the crowd, exploding, flesh and blood splattering.

Several people fall, and more people scream and run in all directions.

Ruike turns, raises his Energy Pistol, and fires at the Orc armored vehicles.

The Energy Beam hits the armor, only splashing a few sparks.

"Brother Ruike, run!"

Weike pulls him.

Ruike can only turn and flee, while the Orc cavalry behind them catches up.

An Orc cavalryman raises a Battle Axe, hacking at a slave who fell behind, and begins the slaughter.

Weike's eyes turn red. "They... they killed our people."

"I know, only by surviving can we take revenge."

The people running in the lead had already escaped into the valley.

Ruike and Weike led the remaining people as they ran toward the valley entrance.

The Orc cavalry was getting closer and closer; one cavalryman charged up and swung his Battle Axe at Ruike.

Ruike dodged to the side, pressed his Energy Pistol against the cavalryman's chest, and fired continuously.

The cavalryman collapsed and fell off his horse.

Ruike snatched the Battle Axe and turned to slash at another cavalryman.

The axe blade bit into the Orc's shoulder; the Orc screamed and fell off his horse.

"Go!"

Just as the Orcs were swarming into the valley in droves, a roaring sound came from the sky.

Three meteors fell from the sky, trailing long tails of fire, flying toward the valley.

Ruike looked up, his left eye fixed on those three meteors.

"What is that?"

Weike also looked up.

"I don't know."

The drop pods were getting closer and larger.

The three drop pods smashed into the plain outside the valley entrance, the ground shook, and dust and smoke rose up.

The Orc cavalry was knocked over by the shockwave, and screams could be heard.

As the dust and smoke dissipated, the doors of the drop pods exploded open.

Three Space Marines of the Sons of the People Chapter walked out.

They were much taller than ordinary Humans, wearing fully enclosed Power Armor, their faces obscured by helmets.

They held Bolters in their hands and had Chainswords hanging at their waists.

On their left shoulder pauldrons was an emblem of two tools crossed together.

Ruike, who was covering the retreat, froze at the sight; he had never seen such people before.

The Orc cavalry reacted and charged toward the three warriors.

The leading Orc raised his Battle Axe and roared.

"Kill! Kill them all!"

The first Space Marine raised his Bolter and pulled the trigger.

The bolts exploded among the Orc crowd, flesh and blood splattering.

The second warrior drew his Chainsword and charged at the Orcs; the roar of the Chain Saw echoed in the valley as the blade cleaved through the Orcs' armor and flesh.

The third warrior also drew his Chainsword and followed behind.

In less than a minute, all of the over one hundred Orc cavalrymen outside the valley entrance were killed, and the Orc armored vehicles were also blasted apart by the three of them.

Corpses were piled on the ground, and the three Space Marines stood amidst the bodies, their Power Armor stained with Orc blood.

Ruike stood at the valley entrance, looking at them, his left eye wide open.

Weike and the other slaves also watched, no one daring to speak.

One Space Marine walked toward Ruike; he stopped in front of Ruike and removed his helmet.

A resolute face was revealed, with short gray hair and cold, stern eyes.

"Are you the leader here?"

Ruike nodded.

"Yes, who are you?"

The warrior said.

"Sons of the People Chapter, by order of the Emperor, we have come to Wala Star to exterminate the Orcs and rescue our Human brethren."

Ruike had never heard of the Emperor, nor had he heard of the Sons of the People Chapter.

But he understood: they had come to save them.

"You... are here to help us?"

Ruike's voice trembled slightly.

The warrior nodded.

"Yes, we are Human, and you are Human too. Humans do not enslave Humans, nor do we allow Aliens to enslave Humans."

Ruike's eyes grew moist.

"We... we have lost so many people, three billion, with less than two hundred million left."

The Space Marine was silent for a moment, then spoke to comfort him.

"There will be no more deaths; our warriors are landing in every corner of Wala Star. The Orcs won't be able to jump around for much longer."

Ruike looked at him.

"How many of you are there?"

"Enough."

Ruike turned around and looked at the slaves behind him.

"Follow them, they have come to save us."

Weike asked in a low voice.

"Brother Ruike, do you trust them?"

"They killed the Orcs and saved us; no further reason is needed."

Weike nodded.

The bright red warrior turned around to face his two companions.

"First squad calling flagship, on the edge of the eastern mountain range of Wala Star, a large number of Human compatriots discovered, rescue needed. Coordinates have been sent."

A voice came from the Communication Device.

"Received. The transport ship will arrive in half an hour."

Ruike walked over.

"You... you still have ships?"

"In orbit, there are many."

"Who is the Emperor?"

Ruike asked.

"The Emperor is the pioneer of the rise of Human Civilization; he sent us to save you. As for the rest, you will know later."

Ruike nodded and asked no more.
