Chapter 1428: The Broken Bone Empire Faces a Crisis
The capital star of the Broken Bone Empire, Iron Tooth Star.
The Wangzuo Ting was filled with the stench of scorched matter and the smell of blood.
Gokazi sat on a throne made from the skulls of Two-legged Sheep, staring at the Orc scout kneeling before him.
"What did you say? Say it again."
The scout's head was pressed almost against the ground.
"Great King, the fleet sent out... did not return, not a single ship. The ships of the Xiuluosheng Fleet are very fast; our reconnaissance ships were sunk the moment they spotted them."
Gokazi stood up; he was over four meters tall, with dark green skin and knotted muscles.
He walked over to the scout and kicked him over.
"Useless! Hundreds of warships! Not one returned? Not even a message?"
The scout scrambled up and knelt properly again.
"Great King, their ships are faster than ours, and their cannons have a longer range. Our ships were blown to pieces before they could even get close. Those Two-legged Sheep's ships are red, their firepower is fierce, and they simply cannot be stopped."
Gokazi turned and walked back to the throne, feeling restless inside.
The outer planets of the Broken Bone Empire were falling one after another, and the fleets sent out were disappearing one by one.
Now, the fleet of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance was about to reach their doorstep.
He had never suffered such an indignity.
"A supreme humiliation! A supreme humiliation!"
The Orc generals in the Wangzuo Ting kept their heads low, not daring to speak.
Gokazi stood up.
"Go, call the High Priest."
A general ran out.
A moment later, the High Priest walked into the Wangzuo Ting.
He was a head shorter than Gokazi, with dark green skin, adorned with various bone ornaments, and holding a staff made from the spine of a giant creature in his hand.
His eyes were a murky yellow, yet his gaze remained sharp.
He walked before Gokazi and bowed his head slightly.
"Great King, you summoned me."
Gokazi looked at him.
"Those Xiuluo Holy Two-legged Sheep have attacked; the fleet sent out was completely wiped out, and now they are heading toward Iron Tooth Star."
The High Priest spoke slowly.
"Great King, those Two-legged Sheep are not ordinary enemies; in a head-on collision, we do not have the advantage."
"Then what do you suggest? Surrender? Flee?"
The High Priest shook his head.
"Great King, we still have a trump card."
Gokazi's eyes lit up.
"You mean..."
The High Priest said.
"Yes, those things were left behind by our ancestors. Their power is immense, but the cost is also great; using them once will leave the Empire unable to recover for several years. It requires vast amounts of energy and materials, and it will cause irreversible damage to the planet itself; after the war, Iron Tooth Star may no longer be habitable."
Gokazi said.
"After the war? It's just one planet; wouldn't it be easy to just seize another Two-legged Sheep planet? What I want now is to make those Two-legged Sheep pay the price. They killed our warriors, destroyed my planets, and reached my doorstep. If I don't strike back, am I still the King of the Broken Bone Empire?"
The High Priest hesitated.
"Great King, after those weapons are used, our army will lose its logistical support; if we fail to annihilate the enemy completely, we will not have a second chance."
Gokazi stepped down from the throne and walked up to the High Priest.
"High Priest, have you ever seen me fear anyone? No one can make the Broken Bone Empire bow."
He paused for a moment.
"Now, a few Two-legged Sheep, slaves who crawled out of the Gladiator Arena, dare to step on my head?"
The High Priest raised his head. "Great King, those weapons are the final trump card left to us by our ancestors; use them once, and there is one less."
Gokazi stared at him.
"One less? If we don't use them, we won't even have that one. Once those Two-legged Sheep arrive, if we don't use them, they will use them for us. By then, we won't even have the chance to use them."
The High Priest fell into Silence.
Gokazi walked back to the throne and sat down.
"Bring out all the weapons; no matter the cost, I want those Two-legged Sheep to go and never return. Prepare immediately!"
"Yes, Great King."
Gokazi leaned back on the throne, looking at the ceiling of the Wangzuo Ting. The emblem of the Broken Bone Empire was carved into the ceiling.
It was a totem left by the ancestors, symbolizing the glory of the Broken Bone Empire.
Outside the Wangzuo Ting, the High Priest walked down the corridor.
His pace was slow, with several Orc Priests following behind him.
"High Priest, is the Great King really going to use those weapons?"
A young priest asked.
The High Priest did not stop.
"Yes, he has decided."
The young priest said.
"Once those weapons are activated, the mineral veins of Iron Tooth Star will be depleted. The atmosphere will be damaged, and for at least several decades, this planet will be uninhabitable."
The High Priest said.
"I know, but perhaps it is truly time to use this set of weapons. The Broken Bone Empire has not encountered a real opponent in hundreds of years. The Great King thinks this time is the same as before—fight a battle, grab some things, and it will pass. He does not know that those Two-legged Sheep are very troublesome."
Deep underground, the weapons vault of the Broken Bone Empire.
This was a massive underground space, over five hundred meters deep. The High Priest stood in the center of the weapons vault, looking at those things that had been sealed for hundreds of years.
An old Priest walked over.
"High Priest, are we really going to activate them?"
The High Priest nodded.
"The Great King has given the order. Activate them all."
The old Priest sighed.
"When the ancestors left these things behind, they said they must not be used unless the nation is on the verge of extinction."
"Now is the time of national extinction."
"Understood. In one day, the first batch of weapons can be activated. But it requires a massive amount of energy; it requires extracting geothermal energy from the planet's core, refining rare Elemental materials from the mineral veins, and separating specific gases from the atmosphere."
"Do it."
"Yes, High Priest."
The old Priest turned and walked toward the Control Console.
