Chapter 483: The Destruction of the Frost Clan (2)

~7 min read 1,240 words

The palace of the Frost Clan in the Extreme Cold Zone.

Sikacheng listened to the successive tolling of bells outside, his inner unease growing ever more intense.

After the tolling of the leader's bell ended, it was followed by the bell of the Frost Great Shaman, then General Chadongjia, and a series of bells for the Myriad-Man Commanders.

The incessant tolling of bells plunged the Frost Clan members within the Frost Clan kingdom into panic once again.

"Heavens, has our leader's entire troop been wiped out by the Humans?"

"No, this must be fake. How could the Humans... how could the Humans possibly..."

"What should we do? That Human troop will be here soon! Without our leader, how are we to defend against the Human troop's assault?"

At this moment, the Frost Clan kingdom was filled with sounds of panic and confusion.

The air beneath the Frost Crystal Dome trembled; every toll of the bell felt like it was striking the very spines of the clansmen.

Sikacheng's fingers dug deep into the frost crystal floor, fine cracks falling from between his fingertips.

At this moment, a relatively frail-looking Frost clansman walked into the palace; it was the Frost leader's wife—Daikulu.

Her eyes were filled with exhaustion, and the dignity of days past was gone; the pain of losing a son and a husband had befallen this leader's wife in the span of just a few days.

She walked into the palace, her voice somewhat choked, yet she still controlled her emotions, not letting herself fall Out of Control.

"General Sikacheng, although my husband and son have fallen in battle, the Frost Clan cannot fall into chaos, nor can it be destroyed under the Human troop's assault.

I have no experience in warfare; now, the fate of this branch of the Frost Clan is entirely in your hands.

I will issue an order for everyone to obey your command and jointly defend against the Human troop's assault."

No sooner had Daikulu finished speaking than she heard the panicked shouts of several Frost Shamans outside the palace.

"The Frost Crown is melting!"

A scream came suddenly from the direction of the Altar from a Shaman apprentice.

Sikacheng turned abruptly and walked out of the palace, only to see the frost crystal crown enshrined at the very top of the seven-tiered altar outside melting, light blue liquid seeping out and winding down the ice steps, drawing a bizarre totem on the lapis lazuli ground that looked like a Double-Headed Eagle.

An elder-looking Shaman knelt before the melting crown, the Ice Bead in his hand evaporating into mist before everyone's eyes.

The dozen or so Shaman apprentices who had just tried to stop the Frost Crown from melting let out horrifying howls after the Frost Crown melted; their bodies began to grow hot, eventually bursting into flames, melting the surrounding frost crystal ornaments along with them, and finally vanishing into nothingness, leaving not even a corpse behind.

"Speak! What happened here? Why did this situation occur?"

Sikacheng grabbed a Shaman apprentice who had just screamed, his tone urgent.

"General Sikacheng, we were just trying to use the Frost Throne to check why the Cold Tide Devourer was emitting a burst of scorching energy fluctuations, but just as we initiated the ritual, we never expected the Frost Crown to begin emitting golden light, and that golden light even melted the Frost Throne!"

The Shaman apprentice said with a somewhat nervous tone; he paused, then continued.

"Just now, those apprentices were trying to channel energy into the Frost Crown to stop it from melting, but they never expected that they themselves would be locked onto by that golden light..."

Speaking to this point, the Shaman apprentice looked toward the place where the dozen or so Shaman apprentices had vanished with a cowering gaze, his heart filled with fear and a trace of relief.

That overbearing golden light did not allow them any resistance at all, directly obliterating those dozen or so Shaman apprentices.

Sikacheng released the Shaman apprentice's collar, his war boots making a harsh, sharp sound as they scraped against the ground.

At this moment, he had no clue; the current troop strength within the Frost Clan kingdom was simply insufficient, and holding out against the Human troop's assault would be very difficult.

Daikulu walked out of the palace, and upon seeing that the Frost Crown on the altar had been destroyed, her body trembled involuntarily; her right hand hurriedly steadied herself against a nearby frost crystal pillar to keep from falling.

"Is... is this truly fate?"

Daikulu parted her lips slightly, and it was a long time before she slowly uttered these words.

Hearing what Daikulu said behind him, although Sikacheng himself held little hope for whether they could hold off the Human assault, this thought absolutely could not be known by the warriors, otherwise, it would be a devastating blow, both psychologically and physically.

Sikacheng turned to bow to Daikulu, speaking in a solemn tone.

"Please rest assured, I will definitely do my utmost to hold off the Human troop's assault. If we have any hope of survival, the only way is to ask you, Lady Daikulu, to seek help from our King, at least to lift a portion of the restrictions on this planet."

After hearing Sikacheng's words, Daikulu cleared away the irrelevant personnel nearby before whispering to Sikacheng.

"I have already tried this method, but our communication ritual cannot send a message off this planet at all. We can only rely on ourselves."

When Sikacheng heard this news, his previously resolute face instantly became grave.

He already had a rough guess about the outcome he was about to face.

Even so, he knew deeply that this was an irreversible conclusion, a cruel reality that no matter what, he was powerless to change.

However, Sikacheng did not become dejected or retreat because of this.

He took a deep breath, stabilized his emotions, and once again bowed deeply and respectfully to Daikulu, speaking in a grave and serious manner.

"Lady Daikulu, please rest assured, as long as my body has not fallen, I will absolutely not allow those detestable Humans to trample upon our home at will!"

Having said this, Sikacheng turned and left, his figure moving further and further away as he sped toward the direction of the city wall.

Along the way, Sikacheng saw many Frost clansmen plunged into panic.

After all, that Human army capable of easily annihilating the Frost Clan's elite troops was simply too powerful and terrifying; even these Frost clansmen could not help but feel fear at this moment.

If it were before, Sikacheng would have considered having someone maintain order to prevent the collapse of the Frost Clan kingdom's order.

But now, Sikacheng was in no mood to care about that.

When Sikacheng returned to the city wall, a Frost Sentinel hadn't even run in front of Sikacheng before shouting loudly.

"General Sikacheng, the... the Human troop is here!"

Hearing this news, Sikacheng's expression instantly turned gloomy; he arrived at the city wall's watchtower and saw many Human soldiers wearing heavy coats and Flap Helmets rushing toward them.

And walking at the very front of the troop were the 30 tall Humans in blue and white Armor that he had seen in the images earlier.

Seeing this scene, Sikacheng immediately ordered the Frost Sentinel beside him.

"Pass the word down, have our soldiers prepare for battle!"
