Chapter 1995

~11 min read 2,017 words

After the aliens of unknown origin left, the group sat around the bar and began to focus on drinking. The most unique thing about this bar was that the cups for drinks came in many styles, looking as if they had been bought at an interstellar junk stall.

Some were wooden cups made by hollowing out a section of a tree trunk, some were cups made of spliced metal, and some even looked like the skulls of small monsters.

The drinks inside also came in all sorts of colors, many of which were bright purples and deep blues that humans couldn't quite accept, and some even had fluorescent colors. Stark stared at a glass of bright purplish-red wine, hesitated for a long time, and then took a sip to taste it.

Then he started to dry-heave from the rich floral scent.

"What the hell? I feel like I just drank a mouthful of Pepper's perfume." Stark grimaced, and the real bearded bartender who had returned smiled and said, "This drink is called Midsummer Poppy, made with pigments from pure natural poppies. The floral scent uses gardenia. If you feel the taste is a bit too rich, I can change it to a glass of sparkling water for you."

The sparkling water that was brought up turned out to be green, looking a bit like something freshly boiled in a witch's cauldron.

Stark took another small sip. This time he felt a bit more at ease because it tasted like mint. Although the color was a bit strange, at least the taste was relatively familiar.

Stark gulped down several large mouthfuls, and only when he reached the bottom of the cup did he discover that there was a pile of slimy green spherical objects at the bottom, which looked somewhat similar to Venom.

Stark covered his throat and started to dry-heave again. The bartender explained, "That's a type of edible ball algae. After special processing, it doesn't have a strange taste. It chews a bit like agar, you can try it."

Stark pushed the cup aside.

Shiler was holding a glass of orange fluorescent sparkling wine. The gray mist in his brain let out a happy cry because Shiler hadn't had a drink for a long time.

As soon as it entered his mouth, the gray mist hummed and said, "I don't like bubbles, I feel like it will make me bloated."

Shiler had no choice but to order a glass of the strongest liquor. Steve looked at him with some strangeness and said, "Are you sure you want to drink hard liquor at noon?"

"I think we should go eat something later, find a proper restaurant. I've been distracted by the intentions of those interstellar pirates, maybe food can make me feel better."

"Ororo and I plan to go shopping again, so we won't be dining. I think we can meet at the entrance of the last amusement ride, how about three o'clock in the afternoon?"

T'Challa looked down at his watch and said.

None of the group had any objections, so Shiler, Steve, and Stark went to the cabin restaurant together.

This place leaned more toward a metal-punk decoration style, with most of the furniture made of aged brass, and some decorations using extremely shiny copper plates, creating a punk-style contrast.

The signature dishes here were also alien-style food, such as intentionally cutting fried onions into spiral cones, using special blades to cut cucumbers into springs, and piling beef mince into strangely shaped meat mud.

Shiler shook his head and sighed, "Human imagination about aliens is still too lacking. Although the aesthetics of intelligent life have their own characteristics, it's not to the point where they all turn their food into strange, ugly shapes."

"Every civilization will think its art is unique and perfect." Steve cut a piece of onion and put it into his mouth, saying, "We thought our aesthetic style would be very different from aliens or exactly the opposite, but as long as the visual system is similar, the beauty everyone pursues is also similar."

"It's nothing more than balance, symmetry, and regularity." Shiler stirred the mashed potatoes and then said, "This is a necessary path in the development of the aesthetics of orderly creatures, and the results derived from it are also similar."

"I still don't quite understand what those aliens are here for." Stark turned to look at Shiler and said, "You actually didn't make them look good, that's not like you."

Shiler revealed a mysterious smile, reached out and touched his pocket, but still didn't say anything.

After the group finished eating the large pile of strangely shaped food on the table, they walked out and saw an even stranger drink shop.

This was an outdoor drink shop, except that all the drinks were packed in spherical bottles. As soon as Steve walked over, he saw the classic packaging of Coca-Cola.

The staff member wearing a headscarf, or rather, the native of this place according to the plot setting, was a woman with a slightly weathered face. She adjusted her headscarf, crossed her arms, and said to Steve, "This is the most famous energy drink on Batuu. Their pronunciation in the Batuu language is BB-8."

"Originally, we all used wooden bottles. Later, a human from Earth threw an empty red drink can here. I heard that this brand of drink is very popular on Earth, so we specifically imitated bottles of a similar color to sell to Earthlings. Want a bottle?"

These small spherical bottles were all thrown into a box filled with ice. In such hot weather, it made people feel much cooler just looking at it.

So Steve took out his wristband and prepared to buy a few drinks, but just at this moment, his peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the other side of the stall, where the group of aliens wearing smuggler robes were also planning to buy drinks.

Just as he was about to walk over, Shiler grabbed him. The group pricked up their ears to listen, and sure enough, they heard the vendor say to the group of aliens, "Smuggling business is getting harder and harder to do lately, right? The Legion's offensive is too fierce, and we can't get any good goods. If you have connections, go find the woman with blue hair next to the armory, she'll give you a good price."

Steve was a bit confused. He didn't understand what the vendor's identity was and why he had connected with the aliens.

But Shiler laughed and said, "Perhaps you should have heard that Disney staff are very dedicated, and the most famous feature of the Star Wars area is that the staff costumes here are random, and there are no classic character images."

"What they are actually playing are the locals of Batuu, some shop owners who rely on undertaking smuggled goods and providing accommodation and food for smugglers to make a living, or information brokers who make a living by selling information. There are also some eyes and ears of the First Order, and even Jedi knights in hiding."

"The actors will randomly choose their costumes and personas on the day, hide among the tourists, and provide them with various clues. Everyone will behave as if it's the real thing to increase the immersion of the visit."

"Disney staff have all undergone special training. When they play a certain identity, they will almost completely immerse themselves in the character. Although professional planning teams say it's exaggerated publicity, at least ordinary people can't tell."

"But that group of pirates should also be considered well-informed, right?" Stark asked with a frown. Of course, he also saw from the micro-scanning device mounted on his glasses that the vendor wasn't actually an alien smuggler, but an ordinary human.

However, he didn't think this group of pirates would have species identification equipment, because judging from their performance in the confrontation earlier, they looked exceptionally like a ragtag group.

These were just small fry among the pirates, and they were the kind of bottom-tier pirates that the pirate group didn't care if they had or not. Otherwise, why would Yondu send them over?

Shiler explained, "Although Yondu's men being able to enter the Nine Realms must have been tacitly approved by Thor, Yondu isn't stupid. In case this is a trap, wouldn't he be doomed here?"

"This cunning pirate leader won't just stupidly walk in, but will definitely send a group of cannon fodder to test the waters first. Not only is it impossible for there to be any important figures among these pirates, but they must also be the kind that Yondu wouldn't feel sorry for if they died, or they are simply spies from other pirate groups."

Shiler revealed a playful smile, and Stark and Steve knew what he was going to do.

Sure enough, Shiler took out his phone and said to Nick, "I plan to set a trap for the fat sheep. Can you contact Disney's management department? Let them cooperate with the performance, and give them 30% of the proceeds."

Steve originally thought Nick would at least ask about the specific plan, but Nick opened his mouth and said 30% was too high. If it were an alien fat sheep, 10% would be enough.

Then Shiler took the phone and went to the other side, and he was gone for a full ten minutes. Steve and Stark were starting to suspect that he had kidnapped the aliens.

After returning, Shiler cleared his throat and said, "Just wait and see."

Just at this moment, Steve saw the communicator on the waist of the vendor who was talking to the group of interstellar pirates suddenly ring.

Of course, both of them could see that it was just a mobile phone, except it was covered with a metal shell, disguised as some kind of alien communication equipment, and the ringtone was deliberately set to a somewhat monotonous beeping sound, rather than an Earth song.

The vendor opened his eyes wide, looked down at his waist, then smiled at the interstellar pirates opposite him and said, "You choose for yourselves, I have something to take care of and will be away for a while."

This phone was actually an emergency communication phone assigned to employees by Disney, used to arrange for employees to organize tourist evacuations in case of emergencies.

However, because Disney has high requirements for the dedication of staff, and does not allow staff to engage in behavior that destroys the image of the character they are playing, it is absolutely forbidden to answer the phone in public.

After all, if Winnie the Pooh took out a mobile phone in front of a child, then from the moment he opened his mouth to speak, the child's childhood would be over.

The vendor was gone for a long time, and the few pirates were getting a bit impatient. However, before they came down, Yondu specifically gave them human currency and urged them not to forget to pay and not to cause trouble to attract attention. And they were really a bit thirsty, so they patiently waited for the vendor to return.

"Sorry, the boss called me. One of our ships had some trouble in the Ring Sector. I might have to go over and deal with it in a while."

The vendor turned to look at the female vendor here and said, "Vanessa, you really have to do me a favor. Something happened in the Ring Sector again. This is the second time today. I'm afraid it won't be long before we have to be transferred over there again."

Vanessa had also received a call just now, but she returned faster than this vendor. She also let out a long sigh, curled her lips, and said, "Isn't it all the fault of that damn Interstellar Security Committee? If it weren't for them wanting to build some..."

The vendor hurriedly signaled Vanessa with his eyes. Vanessa glanced at the interstellar pirates who were covering their faces with hoods, and remained silent.

The pirates were anxious.
