Chapter 214: Whose Church Do You Want to Bomb?
Evening, Leike Dun returned to the Fengshou Church in the South Bridge district, and Ai Mu Lin impatiently shed his cleric robe and left the Fengshou Church without looking back.
Leike Dun even thought his figure looked a bit disheveled, as if he were fleeing.
He walked slowly behind Ai Mu Lin, exiting the Fengshou Church.
After Ai Mu Lin put some distance between himself and the Fengshou Church behind him, he stopped, tilted his head slightly, inhaled deeply, and sighed as if embracing the sunset:
"The taste of freedom!"
"Freedom. Aren't you coming as a volunteer tomorrow?"
"And besides, the air quality in Bei Ke Lan De isn't good."
Leike Dun approached from behind and casually tossed two remarks at Ai Mu Lin.
Ai Mu Lin's complexion instantly fell, and with a hint of resentment he looked at Leike Dun and said:
"Where is that old gentleman?"
He chuckled, glanced at the bitter‑faced Ai Mu Lin opposite, and Leike Dun placed his hand on the other's shoulder.
Before Ai Mu Lin could react, Leike Dun had already led him into the spirit realm, moving toward the inn where Lao Lun Si was resting.
In a moment, their figures swiftly materialized inside a room of the Ka Er Peng Sa Inn in the West District.
Lao Lun Si leaned on a chair, watching the dusk outside through the glass window.
Sensing the spiritual fluctuation in the room, he snapped back to attention and looked toward where Leike Dun and Ai Mu Lin had appeared.
Leike Dun pointed at Lao Lun Si and said:
"This gentleman here, please take a look at him."
Seeing his patient, Ai Mu Lin quickly got into his mode, hurried over, examined Lao Lun Si from head to toe for a while, then frowned and said:
"He has lingering injuries from before, which are a heavy burden on his aging body."
"I can try to concoct some medicines, but recovery won't happen in a day or two."
"Moreover, this old gentleman seems to lack a strong will to live; he's instead downcast and depressed, which is unhealthy, especially for a non‑ordinary being, and could even cause a loss of control."
Leike Dun nodded lightly and said:
"Prepare some body‑strengthening and wound‑healing medicines for him; once that's done, consider the commission fulfilled."
Lao Lun Si knew his own condition, but as long as his body is nurtured, and without the influence of the Full Moon Babble, a couple more ascensions will resolve his longevity issue.
"Blood Clan?" Lao Lun Si's gaze shifted away from Ai Mu Lin's deep red eyes.
A hint of surprise crossed his expression; he hadn't expected the pharmacist Leike Dun summoned to be a Blood Clan member.
But it's normal—every Blood Clan member is born a competent pharmacist.
As a descendant of the Abraham Clan, Lao Lun Si knew quite a bit about the Blood Clan.
"You can actually recognize a Blood Clan!" Ai Mu Lin tilted his head slightly, showing a mildly surprised and proud expression.
Lao Lun Si kept his smile and said:
"During the Fourth Era, the Blood Clan and the Abraham Clan backed different empires, making them adversaries; I naturally know a bit about the Blood Clan."
Leike Dun looked at Lao Lun Si with some surprise; he hadn't expected him to bring up the Abraham Clan in front of a stranger.
Ai Mu Lin looked at Lao Lun Si with great surprise, his tone still proud but now with a hint of agreement as he said:
"The Abraham Clan? Weren't you all long gone into obscurity?"
"They only concealed their whereabouts, not vanished."
Lao Lun Si replied without changing expression.
Ai Mu Lin didn't care about Lao Lun Si's attitude; he wasn't interested in an old man from an ancient clan, as their Blood Clan was far older than the Abraham Clan.
"Just an old man—if it weren't for the lure of becoming a baron, I wouldn't bother treating him."
Ai Mu Lin looked at Leike Dun and said calmly:
"The medicine to treat his injuries requires some extraordinary materials; that's an extra cost."
Leike Dun nodded lightly and said, "No problem, I'll give you the money tomorrow."
"Don't forget the information you promised about the Blood Clan baron's extraordinary trait; his issue can be resolved within a month."
Ai Mu Lin added another reminder.
Leike Dun waved his hand and asked curiously:
"Rest assured, once I promise I can definitely find it, but are you sure you have the money to buy it?"
"Or are you planning to painfully sell a few of your treasured delicate dolls?"
Ai Mu Lin's previously arrogant and smug expression instantly fell; he silently calculated his savings and said in a wavering voice:
"This one, you don't need to worry about; it's just a baron trait, I can still afford it."
If it really doesn't work, I'll ask my father and mother for some money; I would never sell my dolls. My Aniya, I just showed her a court‑length gown.
"Cough—cough, I can still afford the money for these treatments."
Lao Lun Si gave a light cough twice, then interrupted the payment discussion between Leike Dun and Ai Mu Lin.
Leike Dun didn't mind the money issue and, out of curiosity, asked:
"Mr. Lao Lun Si, if I solve your Full Moon Babble problem, do you intend to continue ascending?"
Lao Lun Si was slightly taken aback; the topic switched too quickly for him to react, but he still gave a gentle nod and replied:
"If it's a single trial, I'm willing to cooperate."
"Only a Secret Mage who ascends to the demigod level can have his body undergo a qualitative change through alchemical transformation, greatly extending his lifespan."
Leike Dun explained aloud the reason behind his suggestion for ascension.
"Secret Mage," Lao Lun Si sighed, giving a wry smile without replying.
Even without the Full Moon Babble's influence, a demigod doesn't ascend that easily.
"Cough—cough!"
Ai Mulin coughed lightly twice, and when he saw Leikedun turn his head to look at him, he glanced at the sky outside the window, which was gradually darkening, and said:
"Shouldn't you send me back? The old gentleman's elixir still requires buying some materials."
"Have I become your means of transportation?"
Leikedun complained once, but still took two steps toward him, placed a hand on Ai Mulin's shoulder, and the two figures quickly faded out of the inn's room.
Laolunsi watched the spot where Leikedun departed, remained silent for a long while, and said to himself:
"Is a secret mage really possible?"
In front of Harvest Church on Moonflower Street, South District of Great Bridge.
Leikedun and Ai Mulin's silhouettes were quickly sketched out.
Ai Mulin stepped forward, then halted, turned his head back and glared at Leikedun, saying:
"Why are we back at Harvest Church again?"
"I brought you back as you requested; do you want to go inside and pray?"
"Damn, you truly are a dark‑twisted human. I want to go back to where I live, not this hateful church!"
Ai Mulin's expression was also somewhat twisted as he said.
"Perhaps you could tell me where your residence is?"
Leikedun said something to the blood clan standing before him, who was on the brink of a furious outburst.
"Ugh," Ai Mulin hesitated for a moment, swallowed the words he was about to say, then, pretending not to care, waved his hand and said:
"Fine, it's not far anyway; I'll go back on my own."
Speaking, Ai Mulin turned and hurried to the side; soon his figure vanished around the corner.
Leikedun let out two light laughs, turned, stepped forward, and his figure merged into the spirit realm, disappearing.
Back on Mingsike Jie, Leikedun knocked on Kelaien's house door.
"Hm? Why are you knocking now?" Kelaien asked, puzzled as soon as he opened the door.
"Isn't that basic courtesy?" Leikedun entered quickly, sitting by the fireplace.
After Kelaien closed the door, he also sat by the fireplace; before asking why Leikedun was here, he saw Leikedun staring at the flames and said:
"Sitting by the fire, shouldn't there be a barbecue?"
"This is a fireplace."
Kelaien corrected him.
"Close enough, wait a moment, I'll go fetch something."
After speaking, Leikedun stood, walked to the wall beside him, and opened a "door" leading to his own house.
Moments later, Kelaien saw Leikedun accompanied by Tu Ba Ge, cloaked in a black mantle, and a brilliantly feathered raven, passing through the wall's "door" to his side.
Behind them floated a pile of fruits, vegetables and meat.
Kelaien sighed helplessly, stood up, and rearranged the dining table and chairs.
The floating ingredients fell one by one, neatly placed on the table.
Kelaien looked at Tu Ba Ge and the raven, already obediently seated on the chair, and couldn't help exclaiming:
"Your execution is truly strong!"
"Winter and barbecue go best with beer, but it's a pity Luosai Er never invented beer, so we have to substitute juice."
Mid‑sentence, Leikedun extended his right palm, specks of starlight appeared, swiftly forming a slowly rotating mass of Star Sand.
Leikedun made a tossing motion; the Star Sand from his hand fell forward in successive gleams, converging into a transparent, dazzling barbecue grill.
Kelaien was silent for a moment; he thought that if not for the body control granted by the earlier clown potion, his expression now would have been spectacular.
He took a deep breath, expressionless, and said:
"Is this how you use your extraordinary ability?"
"There's no way; without the Commoner Path, I can't even shape a Gundam by hand, let alone a barbecue grill."
Leikedun sighed with a hint of helplessness.
Kelaien was speechless again, and said rather bluntly:
"I suspect your main goal in gathering Commoner Path traits is to be able to shape a Gundam by hand."
"Not just Gundam; I also want to manually spin nuclear fusion!"
As he spoke, Leikedun raised both hands, as if embracing the sun.
Kelaien, almost supernaturally, added: "Whose church do you want to bomb?"
Then the two fell silent together.
Leikedun pondered Kelaien's earlier words, wondering if it was a sign from destiny, and began weighing which church would be more feasible to bomb.
Kelaien initially thought he had misspoken, but Leikedun's subsequent silence and contemplation made him doubt whether his off‑hand remark had sparked interest.
