Chapter 727: Stars
Lawrence sighed, glanced at the silently standing Lei Kedun and Bei Erna Dai, and then, following Mr. Men's words, asked:
"But your babbling voice still lingers, and family members may still hear your voice during a full moon, then go mad or lose control."
"If I want to completely lift this thousand‑year‑old curse that haunts the family, what should I do?"
Mr. Men, like an elder confronting a stubborn junior, sighed and said, "There is only one way: help me escape the trouble of darkness and storms, so I can have the energy to control and improve my mental issues, and stop emitting frantic howls."
Lawrence pressed, "How should I do it?"
"Arrange a ritual, chant my honored name, then sacrifice one 'Mystic', one 'Mysterious Mage', and one 'Parasite'; I can then use a certain quality generated by the brief convergence of those three paths to get out of the predicament."
"But this is too difficult for the current Abraham family, almost impossible, so it need not be forced."
"Just live well; you don't have to become extraordinary. With the family's accumulated wealth, an ordinary person can still lead a simple, happy life."
Lawrence gave a wry smile, "I understand."
The scarlet moonlight around them shattered inch by inch, revealing twilight's glow again, shining on the ground and on Lawrence, exposing an indescribable sense of ruin and desolation.
After a while, Lawrence finally steadied his emotions, turned to Lei Kedun and Bei Erna Dai, and asked aloud:
"What do you think? Does the ancestor have a problem? The initial roar and the later being who spoke with me are completely unlike the same person."
Bei Erna Dai nodded, saying firmly:
"Mr. Men definitely has a problem; his normalcy is just a façade. He was the one who lured and deceived my father to the Moon, where he suffered the contamination of the Primeval Moon, which caused the later events."
"Among those who followed my father back then, there was also a member of your Abraham family; you shouldn't be unfamiliar with his later‑life changes."
Lawrence gave a wry smile and shook his head, "I had that suspicion, but the ancestor's tone shook my belief."
Lei Kedun saw Lawrence's doubt and turmoil, offered no persuasion but suggested, "Being contaminated doesn't necessarily turn one into a mad monster; it may silently replace you with another self."
"As a demigod you no longer fear the full moon; you can seek some blood‑clan, have them record the extraordinary abilities that create the full‑moon effect, listen to Mr. Men's voice at different times, and then compare them."
"I understand, I'll do that," Lawrence replied with a heavy nod, then fell silent.
After a brief exchange, Lawrence took his leave, intending to return to the Abraham family, convene the council of elders, and discuss the next steps.
After Lawrence left, Bei Erna Dai suddenly asked, "You seem to be deliberately pushing this matter, both giving a warning and helping him contact Mr. Men."
"Even after learning about Mr. Men, and even if the Abraham family's internal opinions unify, some will still think of rescuing Mr. Men and restoring the family's glory."
Lei Kedun nodded, calmly saying, "Keeping secrets isn't my authority; since they raised the issue, I'll naturally provide answers. It's unnecessary to block their search for truth, and any assistance I give comes with a clear price."
"As I just said, Mr. Men will inevitably return; without him, the Lord of the Mysteries cannot appear, which no existence can accept, except those in the starry sky."
Speaking, Lei Kedun suddenly paused, turned his head toward Kangsi Dun City, a flash of silvery white crossing his eyes, instantly becoming profoundly deep.
The change didn't last long; when his eyes cleared, Lei Kedun turned to Bei Erna Dai and warned, "0‑02 has appeared; its signal comes from Kangsi Dun City."
Upon hearing that, Bei Erna Dai's body instantly became ethereal, breaking into streams of tangled knowledge that surged rapidly toward Kangsi Dun City.
Watching Bei Erna Dai depart, Lei Kedun stood still, tilting his head slightly, listening intently; faint, illusory sounds of a steam train echoed in his ears, though there was no steam‑train station or tracks nearby.
"Isn't this a bit too coincidental, that everything everyone's been seeking appears at once?"
He muttered softly, and Lei Kedun's body suddenly turned transparent, became ethereal, turning into a mass of bubbles.
The bubbles, bathed in twilight, reflected dreamlike colors, scattering and vanishing in an instant.
Somewhere in the vividly layered spirit realm, a silver track suddenly extended from the void, stretching forward into a twisted mass of colors.
Amid rumbling booms, a dark‑hued steam train burst from the void, racing swiftly along the silver track.
Inside the moving train, the dimly lit carriages had black cables the thickness of little fingers hanging from the ceiling, tangled together, suspending heads stained with blood and rust. The heads swayed with the train's motion, sparking tiny flashes and clanging metal.
Among the hanging heads was an ancient silver mirror with strange patterns, clamped by several heads as if to bite it apart and swallow it.
A somewhat kindly‑looking head turned, bearing the tightly‑gripped silver mirror, and spoke in Huo Lamick Haiden's voice:
"What just happened?"
On the mirror's surface, a ripple of water stirred, then one after another of Vassak words flowing with scarlet liquid appeared:
"Several rules here were swapped, which happened to disrupt the train's hidden environment, letting us fall out of that strange state."
"We cannot know who did it, but the angel under the 'Erudite' has already arrived at Kangsi Dun City."
The head resembling Huo Lamick Haiden snorted disdainfully, "Hmph, that hypocritical sage—authority over reality and civilization belongs to the Stars, and returns to the Stars!"
The silver mirror's surface rippled again, and new words surfaced: "Now it's my turn to ask—who are the 'Stars' you speak of?"
The head resembling Huo Lamick Haiden suddenly leaned close to the mirror, flashing a bizarre grin, its face contorting, black oil dripping from its mouth corners, and it spoke madly:
"Do you really want to know?"
"Of course it's the Great Supra‑Star Sovereign, creator of the cosmos, embodiment of reality's laws, ruler of all civilizations!"
As Huo Lamick's voice rang, the light inside the steam‑train carriage flickered, no longer dim yellow but a deep sky‑blue like the starry heavens, as if countless stars were twinkling, one after another…
On the silver mirror, all the words vanished instantly, the surface dimming as if veiled with a gray‑black gauze, reflecting nothing.
The hovering Huo Lamick head ceased its frenzy, turned back, and said, "Give up the struggle—won't you join us? We are linked, as one, sharing power, knowledge, and belief; this is the ultimate form of civilization."
"You are special, more so than most Level‑1 seals, even surpassing some Level‑0 seals; only those foolish 'Steam' believers would regard you merely as a Level‑2 seal."
"That's why I value you; otherwise you'd already be like those useless things, turned into our food."
The silver mirror, clenched by several heads, remained silent and motionless, like an autistic child.
Boom! A massive crash rang out as the steam train seemed to slam into a solid barrier, shaking violently, flipping repeatedly, a chaotic tangle.
Arodesi, clamped by several heads, was flung outward, striking a glass window and cracking it with multiple fissures.
On either side of the silver mirror, a pair of illusory small hands formed, slapping the window forcefully, as if trying to shatter the cracked pane.
Its attempt failed; several black cables hung from the ceiling, binding it into a knot.
On the silver mirror, a ripple opened, and golden, eye‑catching words appeared: "My master has come for me; you wait to be made into a model toy by my great supreme master!"
Above the gray mist, Ke Lai En, through a prayer's glimmer, watched the scene with a wry smile, then glanced down at the edge of the table at a mirror he'd casually taken from a historical fissure; on its surface lay one colorful firework after another, and below a tiny figure waving excitedly, leaping toward him.
"Great supreme master, you finally came for me; I was almost devoured by that madman, but I also learned a lot from him—no, from it, hmm, from them—about many things."
"I saw it."
Watching the words appear on the mirror's surface, Ke Lai En lightly nodded and replied.
After Leikdun informed him of the situation, he immediately went to Above the Grey Mist, using the special summon of the Origin Fort to summon the Magic Mirror Aluodes, then, by leveraging its connection with the main body, he applied influence using that piece of curtain, skillfully grafting the track of that steam train onto the steam train station of Kangsidun City.
As for why it was Kangsidun City, he didn't quite understand either, but the true vision in Above the Grey Mist let him see the difference in Kangsidun City; it seemed to have been affected by something, and the rules were in a state of extreme instability and unusually strictness.
