Chapter 55: Will You Be My Beast Husband?
Will you be my Beast Husband?
The moment Chaosheng followed Zhuche into the black vortex, the thick black mist rubbed against her as if it had met its mistress.
The ink-colored sea rose and fell, and a cold, viscous aura seemed to flow through the air.
Suddenly, Chaosheng's body swayed, and in the blink of an eye, she fell into a cold embrace; her tail seemed to be coiled by something, but she dared not dwell on it.
"Let go of me."
"I won't." The cold, icy snake pupils stared fixedly at her, as if devouring every inch of her skin. "Tell me, why did you choose him?"
They were pressed extremely close; Chaosheng could even feel the texture of his muscles and feel his bone-chilling breath.
A soft, slippery snake tail coiled around the sensitive tip of her tail; Chaosheng's gaze turned cold, and she lashed out with a heavy tail-swipe.
"Keep it away."
She rolled her eyes, her crimson lips curved into a slow smile, and her purple eyes held a look that was neither quite a smile nor quite a frown: "Zhuche."
"Hmm?" Zhuche's cold, alluring brows paused slightly. "What is it?"
Chaosheng leaned in abruptly, her exquisite and profound features magnified. Watching her own reflection in his deep blue pupils, Chaosheng smiled with an ambiguous meaning, "Do you like me?"
"Hmm? Zhuche?"
A warm, cool breath sprayed onto her face, and the faint fragrance of the little mermaid went straight into his nasal cavity. The hand gripping the little mermaid's wrist tightened suddenly, and his deep blue eyes closed rapidly, holding his breath in restraint.
Zhuche opened his eyes abruptly, as if fearing something, and shook off the little mermaid's wrist. He turned his head away in a disheveled manner, not daring to look at Chaosheng again; only his heavy breathing betrayed his true feelings.
Chaosheng was not annoyed at being shaken off; she played with her long hair with great interest, a hint of intrigue flashing in her eyes as she looked at Zhuche.
She was not a fool, after all.
With Zhuche's behavior being so obvious, she could guess at least this much.
But they hadn't met many times, had they? Had he already fallen for her?
"Hoo..." His deep blue pupils constricted tightly, and his prominent Adam's apple bobbed as Zhuche tried his best to control his restless tail.
He had never thought that it would be Chaosheng who would pierce this thin veil.
Could a Mermaid Female who seemed so oblivious to worldly affairs actually perceive his feelings?
Zhuche was unwilling to face her, so Chaosheng waited quietly, her purple eyes shining with the light of a hunt.
The thickest black mist gathered around her tail, as if dressing her large purple tail in an elegant black gauze skirt.
After a long while, her crimson lips parted slightly, "Still unwilling to talk to me?"
The little mermaid's soft and bewitching voice reached him. Zhuche looked at her with restraint, his blue eyes flashing with an unclear light. "So, will you let me be your Beast Husband?"
Sea Snake Beastmen were the most unwelcome existence; even if a Sea Snake Beastman were capable, very few females would choose a sea snake as a Beast Husband.
After all, no one could guarantee that a volatile Sea Snake Beastman would never sink his poisonous fangs into her.
As for Zhuche, he was an even more unspeakable existence in the Polar Sea.
Sea snakes had no Tribe, so Zhuche had lived alone since he was small. Without a mother or father to raise him, he lived as he pleased and naturally did not follow the conventional ways of the Beastmen.
As long as he was hungry, he would find something to eat; whether it was a Sea Beastman who could shapeshift or one who could not, he had eaten them all.
When he was starving, he would even bite the little cubs in the Tribes.
The Sea Beastmen naturally wanted to kill him to vent their anger, but unfortunately, he had already awakened his ability by then. With his mysterious and unpredictable ability combined with his poison, no Sea Beastman could kill him.
Those Sea Beastmen could not defeat him openly, but they would find ways to disgust him and try every means to drive him out of this sea area.
Over time, Zhuche grew tired of it and, using his ability, pretended that he had already left the Polar Sea.
However, after so many years, he had left traces behind, more or less; clever Sea Beastmen could easily guess that he had never left the Polar Sea.
Zhuche raised his eyes and looked at her steadily, a faint glimmer of expectation flashing in his blue eyes. "Will you?"
Will you let me be your Beast Husband?
He always felt that she was different; after all, she had never changed her attitude toward him because of his identity as a Sea Snake Beastman.
Before, he had never had a female he admired, and after reaching adulthood, he had always endured his Heat Period on his own.
Only after meeting Chaosheng did he realize how vulnerable the defenses he had painstakingly built were.
Even a lonely Sea Snake Beastman would hope that the female he was moved by would cast everything aside to love him.
The gorgeous female's expression remained unchanged, her purple eyes shining with a look that was neither quite a smile nor quite a frown. "Do you want to be one that much?"
"Yes."
"I do."
This time, the Sea Snake Beastman no longer escaped; he cast everything aside to face his own feelings. His deep blue snake pupils flashed with an inexplicable light, and the power to judge life and death had been handed over to the little mermaid.
Chaosheng curled the corners of her mouth slightly, a hint of cunning appearing at the corners of her eyes. "It's not that easy to be my Beast Husband."
"Zhuche, you have to earn it yourself."
Zhuche knitted his brows slightly. "Earn it?"
"That's right." Chaosheng smiled lightly, a hint of deep meaning flashing in her eyes. "I originally didn't intend to take any more Beast Husbands."
"With Baini and Yinxu, I am already very content."
"If you want me to make an exception, you have to show me what you're capable of."
His deep blue eyes turned gloomy; Zhuche ground his sharp, poisonous fangs and said through gritted teeth, "Fine."
"I will earn it myself."
"Then what should I do?"
Chaosheng flicked her tail and walked closer, her slender, translucent fingertips lightly tracing his cold, white chest, speaking in riddles: "You have to think of how to do it yourself."
"Now, your task is to take me back."
"It has already been delayed for too long."
"..." Zhuche pressed his sharp fangs, which were about to seep poison, hard. Looking at the hateful female before him, he twitched the corner of his mouth. "Fine."
"I will take you back."
Chaosheng smiled as if rewarding him, "That's right, just like that."
"If you want to be my Beast Husband, you have to listen to me."
Zhuche stared fixedly at her without speaking, merely enduring this period of time; once he became her Beast Husband, he would naturally show her what was what.
……
After only a moment, Chaosheng returned to the entrance of her home.
She looked at Zhuche with satisfaction and waved her hand mercilessly, "Goodbye for today."
"……" Zhuche was so angered by her "use and discard" attitude that he laughed, and unwilling to give up, he said, "Then I'll come find you tomorrow."
"Hm?" A faint trace of confusion rose in Chaosheng's eyes; what was he coming to find her for?
Zhuche curled his lips triumphantly, his crimson lips carrying a smile of success, "Didn't you say you wanted me to strive for it?"
"If I can't even see you, then how am I supposed to strive for it?"
Chaosheng was stunned for a moment; that seemed to be the logic……?!
"Sheng, have you returned?"
Yinxu's voice came from above the Ice Cave, the seawater stirred, Yinxu was coming down to find her?!
Chaosheng was in no mood to drag things out with Zhuche anymore, and she anxiously shoved him: "You go quickly."
"Then……" Zhuche had just begun to speak.
Chaosheng knew what he was going to say, and for the sake of temporary safety, she had to make concessions to him, "Fine, see you tomorrow then."
