Chapter 97: Stolen
It was stolen.
That is how the poison of the Sixth Tier works; even if the internal organs of the poisoned person are already ruined, as long as the person does not undergo a specialized examination, they will feel absolutely nothing of the fact that their internal organs have necrotized.
Until the toxins accumulate enough, and they die silently within a quarter of an hour.
Chaosheng paced slightly, her fair, tender soles feeling the coldness of the ground, her slender and fragile figure stretching out on the ice.
Things having reached this point, Chaosheng felt there was nothing left to hide.
She simply laid her cards on the table, "I will just say it straight."
"You accidentally discovered that Sea Spirit Ginseng has the effect of purifying the Mental Sea, and then you claimed them as your own and sold them to other Beastmen at a high price, right?"
The Whale Shark Tribe elder's face darkened; thinking Chaosheng had come to settle scores with him, he bared his teeth and glared at Chaosheng, like an aged lion on the verge of death flashing its claws.
Chaosheng took in his reaction, stating with a calm expression, "But none of you know that Sea Spirit Ginseng is poisonous."
"Sea Spirit Ginseng does indeed have the function of purifying the Mental Sea, but it must be used in combination with other medicinal herbs; if used alone, one will be poisoned."
"What?!" Changye, who had been sitting listlessly to the side, stood up instantly upon hearing this and ran over anxiously, "Sea Spirit Ginseng is poisonous?"
"Is this true?"
Chaosheng nodded without hesitation, "Yes."
"Then what should we do?" Changye thought of how many Beastmen in the War Shark Tribe had consumed Sea Spirit Ginseng.
Their Tribe was relatively wealthy, so they had previously bought a lot of Sea Spirit Ginseng from the Whale Shark Tribe, and later on, Xizhi, in order to curry favor with their Tribe, had sent over even more.
Aian had also unceremoniously distributed these Sea Spirit Ginseng to the Male Beastmen in the Tribe who possessed abilities, and even he himself had consumed quite a lot.
His eyes then lit up, his deep black pupils flashing with a hopeful light, "Chaosheng, you have a way, don't you?"
Chaosheng lifted her chin, her eyes glancing toward the Whale Shark Tribe elder, "Isn't this just to see if the method works?"
"Oh, so that's how it is." Changye followed Chaosheng's gaze to the Whale Shark Tribe elder and nodded in sudden realization.
"Impossible!"
"This is absolutely impossible!"
The Whale Shark Tribe elder raised his head, glaring at them with hatred, the muscles at his temples twitching with agitation, "You are lying to deceive me!"
"How could such a precious thing as Sea Spirit Ginseng be poisonous?"
"You must be lying to me!"
Chaosheng closed her eyes in amusement and let out a cold laugh, her gentle voice laced with bone-chilling coldness, "I think you still haven't figured it out."
She looked down from above at the disheveled Whale Shark Tribe elder, "You simply do not have the value that makes it worth my while to lie to you."
"If I wanted to kill you, it would be a simple matter."
"I have no interest in going to great lengths to weave a lie to trick you."
"Whether you believe it or not is none of my business."
"I am merely using you to conduct an experiment; I only need to get the results I want."
Although the Whale Shark Tribe elder did not understand what an experiment was, by combining it with her other words, he still understood Chaosheng's meaning.
He looked into the air in a daze, uncertainly recalling the entire process of discovering the Sea Spirit Ginseng.
At first, it was the Beastmen in the Tribe who discovered this never-before-seen grass-ginseng in the Black Rift Valley.
Then, after showing it to that Witch Doctor who had always had a very low presence, he said it could be used to purify the Mental Sea.
After testing it on several Male Beastmen whose Mental Seas were polluted and finding that everyone's Mental Sea had indeed improved quite a bit, they decided to announce it at the Treasure Hunt and sell these Sea Spirit Ginseng to other Beastmen.
They knew nothing about Sea Spirit Ginseng; everything was based on what that Witch Doctor said, and that Witch Doctor seemed to have never consumed Sea Spirit Ginseng himself.
Could Sea Spirit Ginseng really be poisonous?
Was the Witch Doctor trying to harm them?
A trace of hatred flashed in the Whale Shark Tribe elder's sinister eyes; he was currently missing, but if he were caught, he would definitely torture him to death!
Chaosheng used her Witch Power to sense that the poison in the Whale Shark Tribe elder's body had basically been neutralized before nodding in satisfaction and withdrawing her Witch Power.
She looked coldly at the Whale Shark Tribe elder, who was immersed in his own thoughts, "Your poison has been cured by me."
"The life you have now was saved by me."
"If I find out that you are using this life to engage in wrongdoing, I will come to take your life myself in less than three months."
After speaking, Chaosheng turned around decisively and looked at Baini and Changye, "Let's go, we are heading back."
Chaosheng returned to the cave and carefully reviewed the day's events in her mind to see if there was anything she had not handled properly.
"Chaosheng?"
The clear, moist voice interrupted Chaosheng's thoughts; she flicked her tail, which was lying on the Shell Bed, and looked up at this intrusive Beastman, "Changye, what is it?"
"That..." Changye stammered, unable to get the words out, his mind already drifting; the female had just been thinking about something, and he wondered if he had disturbed her.
"If you have something to say, say it directly."
Chaosheng looked at him calmly, her tranquil eyes shining with gentle, watery light, implicitly encouraging him.
"It's just that..."
"Many Beastmen in our Tribe have eaten Sea Spirit Ginseng, and they ate a lot of it."
"They must be poisoned now; can you save them?"
Tears shimmered in Changye's deep black eyes, the corners of his mouth drooping in grievance, and his jade-white nose tip turning slightly red.
He reached out his hand, intending to land it on the female's tail, but remembering that some Beastmen said a Mermaid's tail was very sensitive, he paused, then landed it on a corner of the female's gauze garment, tugging it gently while looking at her expectantly.
"Can you?"
So it was for this? Chaosheng did not refuse and agreed directly, "Tomorrow, I will accompany you back to the Tribe to take a look."
"Come to think of it, you haven't been back since you came to me."
"!" Changye widened his eyes in surprise, his water-filled eyes clear and moist, "You agreed?!"
"Chaosheng, you are truly too kind... Ouch!"
Changye stood up excitedly, wanting to give Chaosheng a grateful hug, but accidentally tripped and fell back down.
"Hahaha!"
Seeing Changye make a fool of himself, Chaosheng laughed out loud for once; it was so amusing!
"Chaosheng!"
Changye sat on the ground, giving up, and roared with a face full of shame and anger.
After sending Changye away, Chaosheng lay wearily on the Shell Bed for a nap, her consciousness seeming to drift into a turbulent black sea, rising and falling in a daze.
Suddenly, a loud shout:
"How dare you come here to steal things?!"
It startled Chaosheng awake; her sleepy eyes focused—it was Yinxu's voice.
Hearing Yinxu's cry, Baini and Changye also hurried toward the cave entrance.
Baini looked at the dowry hidden by seaweed on the rock, which now had a visible indentation in one corner.
He ground his tiger teeth dangerously; how bold, there really were Sea Beastmen who didn't know death and dared to come steal his dowry?!
