Do people in first love always do foolish things?

May 10: Do people in first love always do foolish things?

Shakespeare once said: If you cannot remember the most trivial foolish thing you did for love, then you haven't truly been in love; if you have never repeatedly talked about your girl's good points, making listeners impatient, then you haven't truly loved. "Foolish things"—while doing that foolish thing, you must also remember the girl's good points, and you must also repeatedly tell others about the girl's "good points"; only then can it be considered having been in love.

Dream of the Red Chamber also records such a "foolish thing": When Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu first saw that "leisurely tranquil like a lovely flower reflected in water, movements like a weak willow supporting the wind. Heart has one more aperture than Bi Gan, infatuation like Xi Shi surpassing by three parts" Lin sister descending from the sky, Baoyu was stunned by the beauty of that Lin sister who had fallen from heaven.

Baoyu asked Daiyu: "Do you have jade?"

Baoyu's question is foolish talk: Baoyu thinks that what he has, the Lin sister who fell from heaven must also have; what the Lin sister who fell from heaven does not have, he himself should not have.

This Baoyu is too foolish: his treasure is a rare item, brought from his mother's womb, and possesses a distinct personal characteristic "this one". How could others have it? But Baoyu does not think that way: I have this "this one", the person I love should also have it; when I see that the person I love lacks that "that one". Upon hearing this, Baoyu instantly went into a frenzy, started doing foolish things: he fiercely smashed that jade.

Why is this? Perhaps Baoyu's love for Daiyu has made him foolishly infatuated? "Love" confuses the heart, just like doing the most trivial foolish thing: smashing jade.

While smashing his beloved treasure, Baoyu also shouted: "What a rare thing! It doesn't discern superiority or inferiority, yet they talk about whether it's spiritual or not! I don't want this junk either."

Baoyu smashed his rare treasure because that treasure does not discern superiority or inferiority. The so-called "not discerning superiority or inferiority" means not knowing good from bad, not distinguishing the bad from the good; such a thing that does not distinguish good from bad, what use is it to have?

This is the reason Baoyu smashed the "junk", doing foolish things?

Could it be that people in first love always do foolish things?

Baoyu does such a "foolish thing", can Lin sister accept it?
