Chapter 267: You Really Disappoint Me

But Grandmother said, "You’ve all truly disappointed me. Bullying Chloe like this for an adopted daughter."

She had been feeling quite calm.

But hearing her grandmother’s words, it was as if the softest part of Chloe Reed’s heart had been gently prodded.

A bittersweet feeling instantly spread through her, and her eyes began to sting.

’Grandma believed me.’

’She’s always believed me.’

Chloe Reed thought it was a wonderful feeling, and her grandmother’s trust gave her the courage she needed.

She lifted her chin and said, "Just cut the crap. When I decide to do something, I see it through."

Autumn Linton was inwardly furious at her mother’s foolishness, but she couldn’t talk back to her now.

’Mother has such a serious illness. The surgery was a success, but how much longer can she possibly live?’

’Her assets are substantial.’

’I’m her only daughter.’

’Her fortune will eventually be mine.’

Autumn Linton bit her tongue.

Chloe Reed turned and walked out of the hospital room, pulling out her phone to call Walker Grant.

It rang three times before he picked up. "Hello?"

His voice was deep, and she could hear the pleasure in it.

He was in an excellent mood because she had been the one to call him.

"Where are you? We need to meet," Chloe Reed said, her tone cold.

Walker Grant replied, "I’ll come meet you at the hospital."

But Chloe Reed said, "No, I’ll come to you."

"You’ll... come to me?" Walker Grant’s tone grew even more buoyant.

Chloe Reed was getting impatient. "Where are you?"

Walker Grant, however, seemed to ignore her tone. "At the office," he said.

Before he could say anything else, she hung up on him.

Walker Grant was still working late, but as he stared at the disconnected call, a faint smile played on his lips.

’She’s still so cold.’

’But she contacted me first.’

’How long has it been since I’ve felt this elated?’

’I’ve actually missed this feeling.’

He called Dylan Finch over and had him order some of Chloe Reed’s favorite dishes, then immediately went back to his work.

「Half an hour later」

Chloe Reed appeared in the executive office of the Grant Group.

Dylan Finch was quite surprised to see her. "Mrs. Grant, you’re here."

Chloe Reed gave a cool acknowledgement, then pushed open the office door and walked inside.

"Chloe."

Walker Grant was sitting at a long table. When he saw her, his expression softened.

Chloe Reed walked right up to him and asked, "Did you start a company for Sunny Reed?"

Hearing this, Walker Grant’s expression remained unchanged. He replied in a level tone, "She saved my life back then. I owe her. Her only request was to start a company, so I agreed."

"The person who saved you back then was me," Chloe Reed said, her expression incredibly serious as she enunciated every word. "I don’t care who manipulated things to make you think she was the one who saved you, but I know for a fact it was me. If you’re talking about repaying someone, you should be repaying me."

Walker Grant’s eyes darkened, but his expression remained mild. He pulled out a chair. "Sit down and eat first. We can talk things over slowly."

Chloe Reed didn’t stand on ceremony. She sat down and said bluntly, "Pull your funding."

At that, Walker Grant raised an eyebrow. "Chloe, are you jealous?"

"Do you accept my proposal?" Chloe Reed asked, looking at him coldly.

Walker Grant sighed softly. "Chloe, it’s not a big deal."

"Fine," Chloe Reed nodded. "Then you can fund the entire thing yourself. Have the Reed Group pull its investment."

This was her goal in coming here.

She didn’t care how much of his own money Walker Grant spent on Sunny Reed, but she would absolutely not allow the Reed family’s money to be used for her.
