Chapter 2846: Why Does My Wife Follow Me Every Day 06

~8 min read 1,473 words

Several people looked up and saw Yun Jian standing there.

He wore a light beige cotton long‑sleeve set, the top a loose round‑neck shirt that looked soft and relaxed, and he held a thick plant illustrated guide.

"Good afternoon." Yun Jian said to Jin Chen, his voice warm and smooth.

Jin Chen pulled Tan Quan's collar back a bit, nodded at Yun Jian, and said, "Boss Yun."

He usually treated people with a hint of aloofness, but now that cold aura had eased considerably.

Jin Chen: "Thank you, Boss Yun, for the flowers."

Yun Jian walked down the stairs, his gaze lingered on Jin Chen's face for a moment, then shifted to Xiao Ye behind the counter.

Xiao Ye understood, hurriedly told the customer, "Your flower bouquet is ready; I'll pack it for you."

After seeing the customer off, Xiao Ye approached Jin Chen, a little embarrassed, and said, "Boss Jin, um… sorry, I sent the wrong flowers."

"Really?" Jin Chen raised his eyebrows in surprise, looking toward Yun Jian.

Xiao Ye nodded, "I got mixed up this morning."

Yun Jian then looked at Jin Chen, "Sorry, Boss Jin, it was a mix‑up. That bouquet will indeed be picked up by the customer today."

"It's fine." Jin Chen said, glancing at the continuous drizzle outside, "The flowers are still upstairs; I'll go get them and return them to you."

Tan Quan was being led by Jin Chen, unwilling, his eyes darting toward Song Cun.

Song Cun kept his head down, pruning flowers, completely ignoring him.

Jin Chen led Tan Quan out of the flower shop, went back to the second floor of the coffee shop, tossed him aside, and said, "Stay put, don't get bored holding this."

Jin Chen threw him a book titled *World Coffee Bean Producing Regions Compendium*.

After that, he took the flowers and returned to the flower shop.

Yun Jian was still behind the counter; the tabletop was scattered with some trimmed branches and leaves, and in his hand he held a bouquet, layered and staggered in an pleasing arrangement—even someone who knew nothing about flowers would find this bouquet beautiful.

Seeing Jin Chen enter, Yun Jian lightly brushed his fingertips over the petals, then held out the bouquet with both hands and handed it to Jin Chen.

"This bouquet is for you." His cheeks were half‑covered by the full petals, revealing only gentle eyes and a faint smile at the corners of his lips, a soft smile that seemed able to bear any emotion.

During the bouquet exchange, Jin Chen went to fetch the larger bouquet, his fingertips brushing Yun Jian's fingers.

Yun Jian's hand was cool, his skin delicate; at the moment of contact, Jin Chen felt Yun Jian's hand tremble slightly.

Yun Jian pulled his hand back, seeming a bit flustered, and accidentally knocked the small scissors lying on the table; the blade was very sharp.

He hissed, lifted his hand, and fine scratches appeared on his fingertip, with beads of blood slowly seeping out.

"Did you get cut? Let me see." Jin Chen frowned, held the bouquet with one hand, and gripped Yun Jian's wrist.

The blood beads on his fingertip grew larger, about to fall.

"Do you have a band‑aid?" Jin Chen asked.

In the corner of the counter, Xiao Ye was organizing the flower materials; hearing this, she immediately stood up, "Yes, I'll get it……"

She hadn't finished speaking when she met Yun Jian's gaze.

Xiao Ye immediately understood, sat back down, and corrected herself, "It's in the drawer."

Jin Chen didn't notice the exchange; he pinched Yun Jian's finger, opened the drawer under the counter, and stuck a band‑aid on Yun Jian's wounded fingertip.

Throughout the process, Yun Jian watched silently.

His gaze traveled from Jin Chen's brow bone, to the bridge of his nose, then to his thin lips, and finally rested on the hands that were applying the band‑aid to him.

Jin Chen's fingers were long, his nails trimmed clean and neat, with a thin callus at the tiger's mouth; wrapping the band‑aid gave him a feeling even gentler than when he brewed coffee.

They were so close that the sandalwood scent in the air seemed a hundred times stronger.

So fragrant……

So fragrant.

So fragrant.

Yun Jian had to summon all his strength to suppress the urge to swallow his throat's longing and the impulse to turn his hand, grasp that hand, and press his cheek against it to rub.

His heart raced almost out of control, his ears began to warm faintly, and he wanted to move closer, ever closer, to draw that scent fully into his lungs.

But he simply lowered his eyes, letting Jin Chen tend to the wound.

Jin Chen applied the band‑aid, then lightly pressed the edges of the adhesive to make sure it was secure.

"All done." He said, releasing his hand.

Only then did Yun Jian withdraw his gaze, quickly lowering his eyelids to conceal the emotion in his eyes, returning to a clear and gentle demeanor.

He flexed his fingers, his voice warm, "It doesn't hurt anymore."

Jin Chen looked at Yun Jian's seemingly indifferent expression, chuckled lightly, "Try to avoid getting it wet for the next couple of days."

He gazed at Yun Jian's lowered lashes and suddenly felt like reaching up to ruffle that soft‑looking dark brown curly hair.

But he could only hold back; he needed to take things slow, lest he scare his wife.

So he changed tack, extending his hand to lightly pinch the fingertip of Yun Jian's uninjured hand, then immediately let go.

"I'll head back to the shop now." He said, "Come by for coffee when you have time."

Yun Jian nodded, the curve of his lips growing softer, "Okay."

Back in the flower shop, Yun Jian stood where he was, head lowered, looking at the band‑aid on his fingertip.

Xiao Ye stepped closer and whispered, "Boss, did I act okay just now?"

Yun Jian said nothing, took out his phone from his pocket, opened WeChat, and sent Xiao Ye a red packet.

Xiao Ye's phone chimed; she opened it, her eyes lit up instantly, "Thank you, Boss!"

As a competent flower‑shop worker, she certainly hadn't been so clueless as to send the wrong flowers; that white bouquet was specially wrapped by Yun Jian to give to Jin Chen—how could she have mixed it up?

But the boss told her to say that, so she did.

As for the reason… who knows what the boss was thinking? Anyway, as long as there's money to be made.

Yun Jian turned and went up to the second floor.

The second floor is his living space, decorated mainly with natural wood and white, simple and cozy; in front of the Living Room's floor-to-ceiling window sits a lazy Sofa, beside it many potted plants, and in the corner two rabbits curl up together asleep.

Yun Jian sat down, curled up in the Sofa, somewhat conflictedly looking at the band-aid on his fingertip.

The two rabbits woke up, slowly crawled out of the cage, hopped over to his feet, and tilted their heads to look at him.

Yun Jian extended the finger with the band-aid, and said softly, "This is the band-aid he personally put on me."

The rabbits looked, then went to nudge the bouquet he had brought.

Yun Jian stared at the band-aid for a long time, then his nostrils twitched like a rabbit sniffing a carrot, he wrinkled his nose, and hesitated for a moment.

He tore open the band-aid, stuck it on the inside front page of the plant atlas, then lifted his finger—the bleeding had already stopped.

Yun Jian stared at his own finger for a while, still feeling the sensation of Jin Chen pinching his finger, then slowly he put his fingertip into his mouth and held it there.

The tip of his tongue tasted a faint bloodiness and the residual chemical smell of the adhesive, but in Yun Jian's mind appeared Jin Chen's finger, whose skin temperature should be higher than his own.

What would it feel like to hold it in his mouth?

It must be dry and warm, and moreover……very fragrant.

Yun Jian got up, picked up the white bouquet Jin Chen had sent back, walked to the vase by the window, inserted the flowers stem by stem into the vase, and adjusted the angle.

Finally he bent down, leaned close to the vase, and took a sniff.

What Yun Jian imagined was whether, when Jin Chen inspected this bouquet, his fingers had brushed over each petal, and whether he too had lowered his head to sniff it lightly.

He licked the corner of his lips, and a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.

He liked it a lot.

Did Jin Chen notice the gift hidden in the bouquet?
