Chapter 145: Sheng Yu Goes Mad
Zhu Yuan bit her lip, glancing at the vermilion hair tie worn on his left wrist; it was one she used for her hair, forcibly taken by him last night, and she hadn't expected him to wear it directly on his wrist.
An indescribable, sour throb of emotion spread through her heart.
Zhu Yuan suppressed the strange feeling, refusing to let herself sink into it, and said calmly, "I not only have a grandfather to take care of, but I also want to live well. There are too many dangerous factors around you; I won't be lucky enough to survive every time."
If Pei Ling hadn't appeared in time, she would have fallen from the rooftop long ago.
"So you want to completely sever ties with me? You want to pull yourself out of this circle." Sheng Yu looked at her expressionlessly.
After a long silence, a single word spilled from Zhu Yuan's throat: "Yes."
"Were you triggered by today's events?" Sheng Yu gripped her wrist with one hand, his large palm cupping the back of her neck to pull her into his embrace, his fingertips gently stroking her brows and eyes.
Feeling the person beneath his fingertips trembling, Sheng Yu's voice dropped very low, "Hmm?"
The man's fingertips felt as if they had soft thorns; as they brushed over her skin, her blood vessels constricted and shivered, Zhu Yuan's throat tightened, and her eyes were forced into a deep red.
With things having reached this point, there was no way to take them back, "Dong Mingchang is going mad over the pain of losing his daughter and wants my life; Dong Shu must have done something to hurt me behind the scenes for you to retaliate against her. But you and I both know the motive for her hurting me."
It was because Dong Shu loved Sheng Yu.
Zhu Yuan had known from the beginning.
Although being loved by someone was not Sheng Yu's fault, the fact that she was hurt because of this love was not something she should have to bear.
Yet Sheng Yu seemed not to care, reaching down to grab her cold fingers and clenching them in his palm, "If anything happens to you today, I will kill them all."
Zhu Yuan looked up, stunned.
Such crazy words were spoken by him in an understated tone; Zhu Yuan instinctively pulled her hand back out of fear, but was tightly restrained by the man, who lowered his head until his forehead pressed against hers, "I know what you're afraid of; it will be fine once I get rid of them all."
He grabbed her hand and placed it on his thigh, ordering Enzo, who was driving, "Go to the Dong Family."
Once he got rid of them, she wouldn't say such things again.
Watching the madness vaguely released beneath the man's calm surface, Zhu Yuan was in a trance, and for the whole journey, she was held in Sheng Yu's arms in a daze.
"I didn't want to deal with them in front of you," the man's gentle voice came from above, his chest vibrating, "but you insisted on saying those things; to put your mind at ease, I had to take you to the scene to see."
The car was moving extremely fast, and in less than ten minutes, it stopped outside the Dong Family Villa.
Inside and outside the villa were Sheng Yu's Bodyguards.
A vast, dark mass of them surrounded the Dong Family so tightly not even water could pass through.
Sheng Yu brought Zhu Yuan inside, where in the living room, Situ held a handgun to the head of a middle-aged man.
One could see a resemblance to Dong Shu in the middle-aged man's face; he was Dong Shu's father, Dong Mingchang.
All of the Dong Family's Bodyguards were controlled by Sheng Yu's men; Dong Mingchang's siblings and their children had all been dragged to the Dong Family Villa. In the spacious living room, the women held their young children and huddled in the corner, shivering, while all the men were being held at gunpoint.
"Sheng Yu! Give me back my daughter's life!" As soon as Dong Mingchang saw Sheng Yu, he struggled and roared, but was kicked in the back of the knee by Situ, forcing him to kneel.
Sheng Yu glanced lightly at Dong Mingchang, who was still cursing after kneeling, and signaled to Situ with his eyes.
Situ casually tore off the tablecloth from a nearby low table, balled up a corner, and stuffed it into Dong Mingchang's mouth, blocking his cursing.
Except for Dong Mingchang, no one in the living room dared to say a word.
Sheng Yu sat on the main sofa, holding Zhu Yuan in his arms, "Pour a cup of hot water."
Situ personally poured a cup of hot water and handed it to Sheng Yu.
The man took a sip to test the temperature before handing it to Zhu Yuan, "Drink some, your hands are too cold."
The cup was forcibly shoved into Zhu Yuan's hand, and the warmth instantly traveled to her palm, yet she still felt a bone-chilling cold.
She glanced at the youngest child in the corner, who was only five or six years old; the child was looking at her in terror, but upon meeting her eyes, the child's eye sockets turned red and they panicked, looking away.
Sheng Yu was crazy!
The water cup in Zhu Yuan's hand slipped to the floor, water splashed everywhere, and the shards shattered apart.
Sheng Yu lowered his eyes and looked at it expressionlessly, "Pour another cup."
Enzo went to pour another cup of water, and Sheng Yu handed it to Zhu Yuan, "Hold it tight."
Afterward, he lifted his hand slightly, and Situ pulled the tablecloth out of Dong Mingchang's mouth.
Bloodshot veins of ferocity spread in Dong Mingchang's eyes as he cursed sharply: "You killed my daughter just for a lowly actress like this; you will definitely die a horrible death! You and this woman will not end well!"
Sheng Yu chuckled.
Suddenly, he bent down to pick up the shards of the cup Zhu Yuan had just dropped, grabbed a handful, stood up, and walked slowly toward Dong Mingchang, suddenly pinching his jaw and stuffing the glass shards into Dong Mingchang's mouth.
Dong Mingchang's mouth was full of blood.
Mrs. Dong cried out: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Young Master Yu, we were wrong, please spare Mingchang, spare our whole family!"
She cried heart-rendingly and rushed over to kneel on the ground; Sheng Yu grabbed a gun from a Bodyguard's hand, pulled the safety, and pressed it to her head, "Of all people to provoke, why did you have to provoke me?"
"I'll atone for Mingchang, I'll atone, please spare him, I beg you to spare him!"
Mrs. Dong wailed, suddenly scrambling up to grab the hand Sheng Yu was holding the gun with.
Dong Mingchang's throat was cut by the glass shards, making it impossible for him to speak clearly; he widened his blood-red eyes and whimpered.
—Don't!
A "Bang" sound of a gunshot rang out.
Mrs. Dong failed to grab Sheng Yu's hand, but in an instant, Sheng Yu fired, the bullet shooting into Dong Mingchang's left leg, blood flowing out in streams, scaring the women and children present into screaming.
"You are nothing but a dog for Sheng Hongyao; the Five Great Families, hah, do you really think of yourselves as someone?"
Sheng Yu threw the handgun aside, turned to look at the pale-faced Zhu Yuan on the sofa, his eyes cold.
Mrs. Dong looked at her husband, who was bleeding incessantly, her eyes hollow and unable to cry out; she saw the gun Sheng Yu had thrown aside not far away, suddenly scrambled up, and quickly picked it up, "I want to avenge Shu'er! Give me back my daughter's life!"
However, just as she was about to fire, Situ quickly turned his gun and knocked the handgun away.
Sheng Yu stood in front of Zhu Yuan, his warm palm gently stroking Zhu Yuan's long hair, tilting his head slightly, a mocking cold sneer rising on his lips.
The air pressure in the living room was cold and suffocating.
Mrs. Dong suddenly realized that this was a flaw Sheng Yu had intentionally exposed to lure her into drawing the gun, giving him sufficient reason to wipe out the Dong Family.
She immediately knelt down and kowtowed, "Young Master Yu, I apologize to Miss Zhu!"
She kowtowed while crying and begging: "Miss Zhu, I beg you to spare the Dong Family, spare us!"
The sound of continuous kowtowing persisted; Mrs. Dong's forehead was broken, and blood flowed all over the floor.
The smell of blood spread continuously, and in such a confined space, Zhu Yuan suddenly covered her mouth and retched.
Sheng Yu's gaze landed on Zhu Yuan, a trace of imperceptible darkness hidden deep within his eyes.
