Chapter 59: Luosha's Investment

~7 min read 1,355 words

After Wei Er closed the door, Luosha stood up and opened the tightly shut window.

He frowned, but did not object to Lu Chen continuing to smoke his Cigar.

After sitting back down on the sofa, he finally spoke.

"Do you want to buy back that Rainbow?"

A hint of playfulness appeared on Luosha's face.

Lu Chen's hand holding the Cigar paused slightly, and the smile on his face stiffened for a moment.

He tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest, and after a long while, he finally looked up at Luosha.

"In what way do you intend for me to buy it back?"

Lu Chen let out a long breath, looked up again, and with a hint of a smile on his face, he looked at Luosha's flawless face.

His tone was steady; after finishing his sentence, he took a puff of the Cigar and slowly exhaled the smoke.

"As my future employee, you owe me one; the plan for this can be up to you."

Luosha seemed to have thought of something interesting, and his cold tone seemed to rise continuously.

But when he reached the word "employee," he calmed down.

Watching Lu Chen's stunned expression, after a good while, Luosha spoke again.

"Alright, I'm just teasing you. You can decide the plan, but I want an extra ten percent of the shares in Nitan."

"You aren't joking, are you?"

Lu Chen steadied his mind, a hint of gravity on his face, and only after taking two puffs of the Cigar did he calm down.

"If this is the buyback clause, then I cannot accept it."

Lu Chen frowned and exhaled a cloud of smoke.

He tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest, and after a while, he spoke again.

"Oh? Then how do you want to resolve this matter?"

Luosha spoke softly, his tone carrying a hint of excitement, and even a trace of faint, lingering temptation.

After taking a puff of the cigarette, he stubbed it out in the ashtray, picked up the wine glass, and tilted his head to drink more than half of it.

The reddish-brown liquid flowed slowly down from the corner of his mouth.

He took out a handkerchief and wiped it.

A faint blush appeared on his pretty face.

"I can give you that Rainbow..."

The lingering tone of his voice made Lu Chen shudder.

Tapping his fingers lightly on the armrest, Lu Chen's gaze shifted instantly from Luosha to outside the window.

"Giggle..." A laugh escaped Luosha's mouth, like spring flowers blooming, which somewhat interrupted Lu Chen's train of thought.

"I accept this kindness, but the shares still cannot be exchanged with you, however..."

Lu Chen paused, and after a moment of silence, he spoke.

"We can form a new joint venture as a partnership for future investment fields."

"It seems you still haven't opened that letter. Is it a lack of courage?"

Luosha nodded slightly as he watched Lu Chen's reaction.

He lit another cigarette.

His cold, pleasant voice sounded in Lu Chen's ears once again.

It seemed to carry even more temptation than before.

"It's not the time yet; that letter, to me, might be your summons."

Lu Chen paused, then continued speaking.

"To you, it seems like a trivial little thing, doesn't it? Does it matter whether I open it or not?"

"I have plenty of patience; when you open it, you will understand."

Luosha no longer had the smile from before, and his tone carried a hint of solemnity.

"I have resolved the trouble for you, but you must also let me see your sincerity."

"Then how much capital can you mobilize?"

Lu Chen let out a sigh of relief, and after smoking the Cigar in silence for a while, he spoke with a hint of hoarseness.

"One hundred million pounds; you can take it and play with it."

Luosha looked at Lu Chen in silence, picked up Lu Chen's Cigar box from the table, took one out, and skillfully preheated it.

"I don't particularly like Cigars, but I don't mind smoking one occasionally."

"Is the source of the funds discreet? I need to inject it into this company in batches."

After a moment of silence, Lu Chen took a fountain pen from his pocket and wrote down a string of company account numbers in a small notebook.

He tore the page off and pushed it onto the coffee table in front of Luosha.

"I don't want anyone to be able to trace these funds."

"Old Hou will handle it well."

After preheating the Cigar, Luosha took a puff and slowly exhaled the smoke.

"In all your actions in Nitan, Old Hou will cooperate with you, but if your hands get dirty, they will stay dirty forever. Some secrets are better left unknown."

"Understood. Have you ever gotten your hands dirty?"

Lu Chen paused, then he looked up, his eyes calm as he looked at Luosha.

"No. Old Hou was left behind by that person; I was merely pushed into this position."

Luosha took a deep breath, his face appearing somewhat weary.

Her eyes revealed a sense of composure as she took the initiative to meet Lu Chen's gaze.

Her tone was light yet heavy.

"I trust you."

Lu Chen did not look away; instead, after watching for a moment, he spoke softly.

"Then, Director Luosha, how soon will your funds be in place?"

"They will be in place tomorrow."

Luosha took a deep look at Lu Chen, who had already shifted his gaze away.

The corners of her mouth curled up slightly as she spoke in a soft voice.

She leaned back heavily into the sofa and crossed her legs again.

Only then did she mutter a sentence.

"Otherwise, why do you think Old Sun is in such a rush to marry me off?"

"Then you'll have your hands full later. By the way, remember to provide me with the best protection; I wouldn't want to be taken out silently one of these days."

Lu Chen did not take the bait, but instead spoke half-jokingly.

"Aren't you afraid I might do something to you?"

Luosha was stunned for a moment, looking Lu Chen over from head to toe several times.

Only then did she speak with a sense of disbelief.

"Then go ahead. Legend has it that Miss Luosha wants to do something to me; how would I dare to resist?"

Lu Chen shrugged helplessly, glanced at Luosha, and then teased her with a remark.

"In your dreams."

Luosha rolled her eyes at Lu Chen, then stood up, walked in front of him, and reached out her hand.

"Happy to work with you, Director Lu."

"Happy to work with you."

Lu Chen shook her cold hand, a trace of a smile appearing on his face.

"By the way, let me tell you a secret: I know the secret of the Rainbow."

The moment Lu Chen was about to let go, Luosha gripped his hand tighter and leaned in close to his ear.

She spoke softly, in a voice almost inaudible to Lu Chen.

Lu Chen was slightly taken aback and gave Luosha a deep look.

He nodded slightly.

"You really are bold, you fellow, but I like it."

Luosha turned and left the Guibingshi.

Lu Chen slumped on the sofa, slowly smoking his Cigar.

It seemed that the pleasant scent of Luosha still lingered in the Guibingshi.

He looked at the closed wooden door with deep eyes.

After a long while, he stood up, straightened his suit, and put a smile back on his face.

He pushed the door open and walked out of the Guibingshi.

"You've come out."

Wang Jingli stood at the door, glancing in the direction of the Huanghou Ting's main entrance.

He seemed to still carry a trace of trepidation, as well as admiration for Lu Chen.

"That Miss Luosha just said that since you are holding her shares on her behalf, combined with your original shares, you can obtain a seat as a director."

Lu Chen nodded slightly and took a deep breath.

Only then did he speak.

"Let's go. Where is Director Wei Er?"
