Chapter 81: Instigation

~7 min read 1,365 words

"Hmm? Director Lu, why have you come as well?"

Luosha walked into the reception hall in a flurry, only then composing herself to look dignified.

She furrowed her beautiful brows, then spoke in a slightly cold voice, as if suppressing the excitement of a little girl.

Lu Chen took a puff of his Cigar and beckoned to Luosha.

He picked up the documents on the table.

"Here, the explanation you wanted."

In the few steps it took to walk over, Luosha returned to a composed, calm posture.

After taking the document bag from Lu Chen, she sat slowly on the sofa.

"The things you did really put me under a lot of pressure; the commotion the night before last was truly too great."

Luosha pulled out the two sheets of paper, glanced at Lu Chen, and then her gaze fell upon the autopsy report.

Her pupils shrank violently.

After a long while, she gritted her teeth and said.

"Are there any remnants left?"

Her pretty face was full of frost, and the anger in her eyes was practically burning.

"The rest are up top; let Xiaofeng come himself."

Lu Chen sighed slightly, took two puffs of his Cigar, and then spoke slowly.

Every word was enunciated clearly; his voice carried a hint of trembling, but was mostly steady.

"If he doesn't take revenge for this himself, he's finished."

Luosha pulled a lady's cigarette from a pack, but her hands were trembling so much she failed to light it several times.

Lu Chen hurriedly lit it for her.

After Luosha finished smoking one, she finally calmed down slowly.

"Then let him come himself; I will notify Elder Hou, and no matter who is behind this, I won't interfere."

Lu Chen nodded silently and pre-heated a Cigar for Luosha.

Only then did he pick up his own half-smoked one from the ashtray.

"Why did the little girl come so early today?"

Elder Sun walked over from the dining area, glanced at Luosha's state, and rolled his eyes at Lu Chen.

"It's all because of you; I asked you to transfer Chef Zhu to my place to cook me two good meals, but you wouldn't let him."

Luosha's complexion was still not very good, but it was already much better than before.

After several minutes passed, she finally spoke.

"I'm just craving that taste, that's all."

Luosha rolled her eyes at Lu Chen and took an elegant puff of the Cigar.

"Fine, Chef Zhu can stay at your place for two days, just two days, mind you; I'm not used to the food others cook."

Elder Sun glanced at Lu Chen, sighed, and then spoke.

Lu Chen shrugged helplessly and took a puff of his Cigar.

"You two should stop mocking me; I've lost a great general, and the days ahead won't be easy."

He slowly exhaled smoke, leaned back, and crossed his legs, though his body remained tense.

"Although it breaks my heart, the advancement of Nitan still requires the support of you two."

After a few seconds, Lu Chen scanned the two of them before continuing.

"Elder Wang promised me he would end the chaos in Nitan by tomorrow; what do you two think?"

"Since Elder Wang has promised, I won't interfere."

Luosha shrugged, took a puff of the Cigar, and then handed it to Lu Chen.

"I'm still not used to Cigars; you smoke it."

After Lu Chen took the Cigar in a daze, she casually pulled out a lady's cigarette.

She lit it elegantly and took a puff.

Elder Sun looked at the two of them, the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

"Old Wang is still as shortsighted as ever; you brat caused such a huge disaster, and he isn't even afraid of getting himself dragged into it."

Elder Sun leaned back into the sofa, a gleam of light flashing in his eyes.

He crossed his legs, took a puff of his Cigar, and slowly exhaled smoke.

"You brat, go pay Old Liu a visit and squeeze some money out of him; how can there be such a good deal where only my girl has to pay?"

"Uh, last time Old Liu gave me the loan note for the Crown's debt."

Lu Chen held the Cigar, not knowing whether to smoke it or not.

He glanced at Luosha and met her half-smiling gaze.

Gritting his teeth, he took a puff, exhaled the smoke, and then looked at Elder Sun.

"Hmph, you call that support?"

Elder Sun glanced at Lu Chen, turned his head, took a puff of his Cigar, and the swinging of his crossed leg became more pronounced.

"Do you know what a Comprador Family is? A mere 20 million pounds in loans is not even a drop in the bucket for them."

After several seconds, Elder Sun put down his leg, slowly exhaled smoke, leaned forward, and looked at Lu Chen.

"For this incident, give Old Liu an explanation; at the very least, you can get over 200 million pounds. If he's unwilling to pay, then he's looking down on you."

Elder Sun stared fixedly at Lu Chen, enunciating every word.

"This purge isn't your problem, but the strength you've displayed is enough to be worthy of Old Liu's investment; that previous loan note was just a toy for you."

"The way you say that, Elder, it's as if you're egging me on to rob Old Liu."

Lu Chen was stunned for a moment, as if he had just caught the drift.

He glared at Elder Sun.

Then he looked up at Luosha, who was covering her mouth, her shoulders heaving.

Her beautiful eyes were narrowed into lovely crescent moons.

"How could you think that, kid?"

Elder Sun was taken aback, an expression of disappointment at his failure to meet expectations immediately appearing on his face as he reached out and pointed at Lu Chen.

"With such a good opportunity, how could you not seize it!"

Lu Chen nodded thoughtfully, his eyes still somewhat dazed.

"Right, remember to help me get back that jade whale I lost to Old Liu the time before last."

Watching Lu Chen's reaction, Elder Sun's eyes lit up slightly, and he hurriedly added a sentence.

"I think you just want that jade whale, Elder; all this talk about blackmailing Old Liu is just to satisfy your own hobby."

Luosha suppressed her laughter and spoke up to tease him.

"Don't talk nonsense; a loss is a loss, I'll just win it back next time."

Elder Sun straightened his face and glared at Luosha.

"If Little Lu can get it and bring it back to honor an old man like me, that's Little Lu's good intention; what's this about egging on or not? You girl, you're just spouting nonsense."

"You heard him, Elder Sun said he'll win it back himself."

Luosha glanced at Lu Chen, took a puff of her cigarette, her eyes carrying a hint of a smile.

"Those old guys can't afford to lose, so they want to drag you into the water; I've fallen for that trick several times."

Lu Chen nodded silently.

"Elder Sun, how about I take you to visit Old Liu together?"

"What kind of talk is that? It's more like Old Liu should come to visit me."

Elder Sun's eyes widened, and even his graying beard seemed to drift toward Lu Chen.

"Let's go, let's go, time to eat, time to eat..."

Elder Sun stood up first, glared at Lu Chen once more, and walked with such a vigorous, imposing air, as if someone owed him millions.

Luosha stood up and rolled her eyes at Lu Chen.

"Let's go, Mr. Lu. Why don't you hurry up and coax that old man? Otherwise, he won't even be able to sleep peacefully during his afternoon nap later."

Lu Chen shrugged, stood up, and walked toward the dining room at a leisurely pace.

"Miss Luosha, isn't this your business?"

"I still have to clean up the mess for you; do you think I'm under no pressure at all regarding your troublesome affairs?"

Luosha paused slightly, then resumed walking.

After having a meal with Luosha and Elder Sun, Lu Chen finally returned to the Zhuangyuan.
