Chapter 91: Bureau Chief Zhang, are you overthinking this?
"Hello, how are you?"
Lu Chen listened to the voice on the phone, his brows furrowing involuntarily.
After hanging up, Lu Chen shouted toward the door.
"Steward Wang, prepare the car."
He got up, returned to the bedroom, and changed into a suit.
"Central Chashi."
Lu Chen sighed and spoke directly.
Having only just returned from there, he had to go again; it was simply...
Soon, Lu Chen arrived at Central Chashi.
A plump figure was also walking from the parking lot toward the teahouse.
He was wearing a suit and was slightly thinner than Feizai, though not by much.
"Hello, Bureau Chief Zhang."
Lu Chen took two quick steps forward, reached out, and shook hands with Bureau Chief Zhang lightly.
"I am truly sorry, I wasn't able to visit you at your home, and instead made you come to find me."
A hint of apology appeared on Lu Chen's face as he walked side-by-side with Bureau Chief Zhang toward the teahouse.
"Chairman Lu is being far too polite; how could I let you come visit me?"
Bureau Chief Zhang's expression was slightly strained, but he remained very courteous.
Upon entering the teahouse, Lu Chen took out his Cigar case, placed it on the table, and gestured slightly.
Only after the service staff had exited the teahouse and they had each smoked for a while,
did Bureau Chief Zhang finally speak.
"Chairman Lu, the reason I called you over this time is actually still because of the matter regarding Nitan."
"Bureau Chief Zhang, I am merely a developer; for issues regarding Nitan, you should look for Elder Wang and the others."
Lu Chen frowned; just now on the phone, Bureau Chief Zhang had not specified the exact matter.
Otherwise, Lu Chen would definitely have refused directly.
Although it was a bit troublesome, it wouldn't have been as awkward as it was now.
"Oh, my status is far too sensitive; there are some things I really cannot come forward for, so I must trouble Chairman Lu."
Bureau Chief Zhang sighed, took a puff of his Cigar, and a trace of melancholy appeared on his face.
His peripheral vision was fixed intently on Lu Chen.
"What are you saying? Nitan isn't controlled by me either; wouldn't it be better if you just summoned them for a talk?"
Lu Chen sipped his clear tea, his brows furrowed, his fingers tapping slightly on the tabletop.
Up to now, Bureau Chief Zhang still hadn't said what the specific matter was, and Lu Chen didn't dare to agree lightly.
If he really took on some errand for himself, it would truly be a massive headache.
"Sigh, it's not that I can't summon them, but that I can't move; all eyes are focused on me."
Bureau Chief Zhang sighed and sipped his clear tea, but there was not the slightest ripple on his face; he remained in that same melancholy state.
"I can only rely on you to help me arrange the talk."
"What exactly is the matter you are talking about?"
A hint of confusion hung on Lu Chen's face, and his finger tapping the armrest paused slightly.
A flash of confusion also crossed his eyes as he looked at Bureau Chief Zhang, appearing somewhat puzzled.
It was as if he didn't understand anything at all.
"If I can help, I certainly will, but if it's something I cannot do, please don't make things difficult for me."
"Chairman Lu, this is pointless; the matter of Nitan wasn't caused by anyone but you."
Bureau Chief Zhang's tone carried a hint of bluntness, but there were no excessive actions.
He simply leaned back, crossed his legs, and stared intently at Lu Chen.
"The Investigation Team is departing from the mainland and has 3 days left; during this time, everyone's story must be unified, otherwise, if they really investigate something, Chairman Lu, your project will be halted."
"The Investigation Team?"
Lu Chen's expression did not change, and his tone still carried a hint of confusion.
"What do you mean by that? Are they coming to investigate me?"
"Lord Wodehua, surely you aren't unaware that this matter and the disappearance of a gang in Nitan—you don't really have nothing to do with it, do you?"
A flash of ferocity crossed Bureau Chief Zhang's eyes, and his tone lowered involuntarily.
"You are the only one who dares to develop in Nitan; once this kind of thing involves Nitan, you are the most suitable person to speak. If you didn't have the permission of those big shots, even if you wanted to develop, it would be impossible."
"Bureau Chief Zhang, you seem to have misunderstood one thing; I am merely a developer and truly don't have the ability to handle the matter you're talking about. Why don't you contact Miss Luosha?"
Lu Chen paused before speaking again.
"If Miss Luosha speaks up, this matter shouldn't be a problem."
"You say that, but if I could find Miss Luosha, would I need to find you?"
Bureau Chief Zhang glared at Lu Chen in annoyance, took several puffs of his Cigar, and only after exhaling the smoke did he continue.
"How about this: can you arrange a meeting with Miss Luosha? I will speak with her personally to see if this favor can be granted."
Bureau Chief Zhang sighed before speaking.
"I have learned that over at Crown, Chairman Lu is holding shares on behalf of Miss Luosha."
"Bureau Chief Zhang, I do indeed hold shares on behalf of Miss Luosha, but it is still very difficult to get in touch with her."
Lu Chen spread his hands, took a deep look at Bureau Chief Zhang, and a hint of probing appeared in his eyes.
"What you've said so far isn't worth me contacting Miss Luosha; after all, she wouldn't be interested in the things you're talking about."
"Five percent of the shares in an agency company based in Daiying; I will transfer the holding rights to you."
Director Zhang took a deep look at Lu Chen, his fingers tapping lightly on the tabletop, and only after a good while did he speak softly.
"This company doesn't have any specific business; it just helps people set up companies, but it is one of the top channels in Daiying."
"Then have you not thought about resolving this matter through other channels?"
A flash of light crossed Lu Chen's eyes, his fingers paused slightly, he took a puff of his Cigar, and his gaze swept over Director Zhang inadvertently, not lingering on his face.
He looked out the window on his own, where the bustling Victoria Harbour could be vaguely seen.
"According to the price you're offering, you could completely resolve this matter at a higher level without needing me."
"Chairman Lu, if you only look at your own small patch of land, what you say is indeed impeccable."
Director Zhang sighed and took two puffs of his Cigar.
"The channel company in Daiying is indeed tempting, but no one knows if it's a poisonous fruit once swallowed; these shares aren't for you, they are for Miss Luosha. You can keep 1% of the shares, and hand the rest over to Miss Luosha."
"Director Zhang has a good plan."
Lu Chen narrowed his eyes and spoke softly.
"Please put more effort into my procedures for Nitan; you can give me the contract first."
"Then I will wait for your good news. Time is short, please decide as soon as possible. If there is no word after 3 days, then I will hand the shares over to a Marquess in Daiying to resolve this matter."
Director Zhang paused, a hint of distress appearing on his face, and only after several seconds did he speak.
"No one wants to leave their homeland."
It took several seconds for Director Zhang to compose himself.
He took three document bags out of his briefcase; two were stamped with Director Zhang's personal Wax Seal, and the other with an official Seal.
"Those two, marked 1 and 4, are the shares, and this one is the approval document for your procedures."
"The tea in this teahouse is very good; I will make an appointment to drink tea with you again the day after tomorrow."
Lu Chen took a deep look at Director Zhang and spoke softly.
He put away the document bags, stood up, and walked out.
