Chapter 406

~9 min read 1,666 words

But precisely because he appears and vanishes without a trace, often using clones, Luo En could hardly guess what he truly was.

Longjuan finally woke up; her heart was the most severely injured, so she had been bedridden recently, but today she could finally get out of bed, so she spent the whole day wandering outside without pause.

"I'm already tired from walking—still going?!" Chuixue was utterly worn out by her; even someone unharmed like her was exhausted, yet Longjuan showed not the slightest sign of fatigue, not even breathing heavily.

Longjuan had lain in bed for days and was itching to move; she was eager to train her skills right now.

Longjuan thought for a moment, then said to Chuixue: "Come train with me—lying here so long, my bones feel like they're falling apart!"

"Me?" Chuixue looked incredulous; she had no intention whatsoever.

But before Chuixue could finish speaking, Longjuan struck—her punches came fast, forcing Chuixue into no escape.

In the end, Chuixue could only desperately dodge, stumbled backward, and fell—luckily, Luo En acted swiftly, pulling her back just in time, so she landed right against his chest.

This delighted Chuixue so much she immediately forgot everything that had just happened.

Longjuan, puzzled, asked casually: "Why are you here?"

Luo En shook Chuixue slightly, signaling her to get up, then let her stand on her own properly.

Then Luo En said: "I've recently heard rumors of Wang Dashe's movements—he seems to have injured many ordinary people. But this is only hearsay; no one has seen him firsthand—it's all just folk gossip."

57, Wang Dashe's Trail

Since swallowing El Wolf, Wang Dashe had vanished completely; even among the Monster Alliance, no one had seen him.

If Wang Dashe has appeared now, it means he's recovered—and very likely will return to the Monster Alliance.

"Wang Dashe swallowed El Wolf—his power must've increased a lot. I absolutely must test him—see whether he's stronger or I am!" Longjuan's old habit resurfaced.

Luo En didn't dare say it aloud, only thought to himself: You're in this state and still want to fight? But he didn't dare speak it, so he said: "Rest properly. I'll take Chuixue to check on the Monster Alliance—just in case they're plotting something."

Saying this, he pulled Chuixue out the door. As they left, Chuixue made a face at Longjuan, silently telling her to stay put.

Longjuan watched the two leave, standing there motionless, unsure what to do.

Luo En wanted to probe what the monsters were planning now—especially Wang Dashe. He knew Wang Dashe wouldn't vanish so easily; he had to confirm it.

Chuixue, hearing Luo En call her, felt a small thrill and asked mischievously: "Why did you call me to come with you?"

She asked with a hint of shyness—the subtle embarrassment of a girl.

But Luo En didn't overthink it; he said directly: "Didn't you just see? I was afraid you'd get killed by Longjuan, so I just brought you along!"

So it was just an afterthought!! Chuixue's cheerful expression instantly froze; she no longer wanted to hear a word from Luo En.

She said: "Hmph, I'll go check it out—you go on your own."

Saying this, she walked off alone to scout whether the monsters' hideout had any other escape routes.

Luo En didn't even know what he'd done wrong, so he let Chuixue wander off on her own.

Seeing Luo En didn't come after her, Chuixue decided to sulk and search on her own.

This area looked desolate, with little left—more like an abandoned place.

Chuixue didn't know how she got here; she'd walked this far while sulking, yet it clearly showed signs of recent human presence.

Now Chuixue dared not act as carelessly as before; she snapped to attention and heightened her vigilance.

She slowly followed the only narrow path downward.

Meanwhile, Luo En had noticed nothing unusual—he only realized Chuixue was gone and wasn't nearby.

For now, he wasn't overly worried; he assumed she'd just wandered a bit farther.

But as minutes passed, Luo En still saw no sign of Chuixue.

Somehow, Chuixue reached the outside of a room—and someone was inside.

Curiosity drove her to slowly lift her head and peek inside.

She saw it was indeed a monster, but strangely, this monster looked familiar—yet she couldn't place where she'd seen him.

Chuixue couldn't figure it out, and alone, she dared not act rashly—retreating was the wisest choice.

Just then, Chuixue accidentally made a noise.

The person inside immediately shouted: "Who's there?!"

Chuixue shut her eyes tight, thinking she was done for—when suddenly, someone behind her covered her mouth.

Chuixue thought it was a monster and raised her hand to strike—then recognized Luo En. She finally relaxed.

Luo En placed a finger to his lips and whispered: "Shh!"

Luo En also saw the person inside—he instantly recognized him: the monster was Wang Dashe, and the one swallowed was El Wolf. If he wasn't mistaken, though the body was Wang Dashe's, it was El Wolf who controlled it.

El Wolf never willingly let himself be swallowed—he must have planned this all along to take control of Wang Dashe.

Before Luo En could think further, he pulled Chuixue into hiding. Seconds later, someone stepped out of the room.

Luckily, Luo En arrived early—otherwise they'd have been spotted.

Soon after, the two of them left the area. Now that they knew the enemy's movements, they weren't afraid anymore.

"Luo En, thank goodness you came just in time—I'd have been dead again!" Chuixue said, puffing her cheeks in relief.

Luo En showed no softening; he spoke as coldly as ever: "You know you're weak? Then why keep running around?"

Chuixue lowered her head silently, not daring to make another sound—this time, she was wrong.

The Monster Alliance wasn't quiet either. El Wolf wasn't truly swallowed—he was more like parasitizing Wang Dashe's body.

This way, he could fully wield Wang Dashe's power, find shelter, and even grow stronger himself.

But though this method was effective, it wasn't easy to hide—anyone with slightly higher combat power could easily sense the anomaly.

After returning, Luo En told them everything. They still didn't fully understand the situation, so they could only increase their vigilance.

Early in the morning, before anyone had risen, someone rushed in shouting Luo En's name: "Something's happened!"

Luo En jolted awake from sleep and immediately asked what was wrong.

"What's going on? You look panicked!" Luo En asked, confused.

The man gasped for breath: "Wang Dashe has gathered the monsters and is threatening to fight the heroes—if you don't come out, he'll destroy the streets and harm the civilians! That's why I came to warn you!"

Luo En frowned at once. These people really couldn't wait—barely a few days had passed, and they'd come knocking themselves.

"Chuixue, go tell everyone to come see what nonsense these weirdos have now!" Luo En ordered.

Chuixue immediately went to notify everyone. When Longjuan heard it was these weirdos causing trouble again, she remembered how she'd failed.

Anger surged up instantly; she was the first to follow Luo En to the scene.

"Damn it, this time I'll show you all just how powerful Grandpa is!" Longjuan muttered as she walked.

Luo En glanced at Longjuan beside him—her proud, fiery temper made him fear she'd provoke trouble first.

So he warned: "Hey hey hey, tone it down. You're a girl—stop saying 'Grandpa' all the time!"

"What? Am I not a Grandpa? Where am I not a Grandpa?" Longjuan fired back with a string of questions.

Luo En chose to stay silent—he didn't argue with women; they always had a point.

57, Provocation, Parasitic Entity!

When they arrived, a crowd had already gathered, many there just for the spectacle.

Luo En had already sent Chuixue to alert the others, so Xiang Banggu, Atom the warrior, and the rest had all arrived.

Wang Dashe stood in the center of the arena, but Luo En saw no difference in him, nor any sign of the wolf inside him.

Wang Dashe spotted Luo En first and spoke with rare arrogance: "Hmph, you're surprised to see me here, aren't you? Thought I was dead? Ha, it's not that easy to kill me."

"Are you Wang Dashe?" Luo En asked uncertainly—he was only testing to see what was going on.

"Who I am doesn't matter—we're enemies to the end!" Wang Dashe roared. He hadn't forgotten being humiliated by Luo En that day.

Longjuan, unable to bear his arrogance any longer, snapped: "You things that are neither human nor ghost—how dare you have the nerve?"

Longjuan's words were clearly meant to insult and provoke, but Wang Dashe broke his usual pattern—he wasn't angered.

"Speak," Xiang Banggu said, having watched long enough. "What's your purpose here today?"

Wang Dashe scanned all the heroes, then said: "I challenge you all! Let you see the power of the Weirdos. Who wants to go first? Hmm?"

Longjuan naturally wouldn't yield—she was about to charge when Luo En and Banggu both moved to block her.

Luo En glanced at Banggu; they thought the same—Longjuan was too proud and competitive; it was better to let Banggu go first.

Banggu stepped forward: "I'll handle him. We don't yet know Wang Dashe's condition—I'll test him first. If anything changes, you can back me up."

Longjuan wanted to go, but she agreed Banggu was right—she needed to stay calm, not act impulsively, so she held back.

Banggu stepped out, taunting: "I'm enough to deal with you!"

Hearing this, Wang Dashe was furious. After all, he was the leader of the Weirdos—and now some nobody dared speak to him like this.

He waved his hand, sending a wave of light toward Banggu. Before it even reached him, Banggu felt crushing pressure.

Banggu immediately raised his hands to block the force. The moment he caught it, he felt as if his entire body was being crushed—his organs squeezed inward.

Finally, he couldn't hold it—he was blasted backward with a *boom*, flying three meters away.
