Chapter 654

~7 min read 1,330 words

The girl looked astonished; she knew Luo En had no intention of striking—if he had wanted to, he would have done so already, yet he stood silently behind her without a single movement.

"What exactly do you want?"

The girl asked coldly.

Luo En said.

"This door is about to open; all life in this world will flood out and cause immense disruption to the outside."

"If you cannot control your subordinates, then don't let them out."

The girl stared at Luo En in surprise.

"What door is about to open? I don't know anything about it."

Luo En said.

"This world is inside a door, and now that door has appeared in the outside world—it will open soon. The creatures within are the remnants of other worlds' endings."

The girl burst into laughter.

"Where did you get this rumor?"

Luo En stared at the girl; from her expression, she seemed genuinely unaware of this.

Could this door be a conduit between two worlds? Was this world originally just one?

Yet recalling the legend and all he had experienced before, Luo En believed this tale was not baseless—there must be some crucial truth behind it.

"Though I don't understand what's going on, you absolutely cannot leave."

Luo En said.

The girl smiled warmly at Luo En.

"Are you telling me how to do my job?"

Her gaze had grown cold; it was clear this girl was capricious.

Though he knew communication was difficult, Luo En did not give up; he said:

"Though I did harm your subordinates, I am willing to take responsibility—but on one condition: you must not enter other spaces, or I will not hold back."

The girl had already been wary of Luo En after their brief clash, yet now that he had spoken such words, how could her pride yield so easily?

She said:

"If I wish to go to the outside world, I will go—no word of yours will make me abandon that idea."

Luo En frowned; he saw that the girl was deeply intrigued by the outside world, yet he must stop her.

Beside him, the Curse wore an expression of terror; he seemed to recognize the girl, having once read legends about her in an ancient text.

This girl possessed overwhelming power—she could create entire spaces, something impossible in this world, so she was deemed an aberration.

Yet even so, she had eliminated every one of those who tried to hunt her down.

That was the most terrifying part; everyone feared and revered her, yet no one knew why, one day she simply vanished.

Everyone assumed someone had killed her, but that person never appeared.

Since she had disappeared, no one bothered to investigate further—yet here she was.

The Curse's curse energy was a branch stemming from the energy the girl had released; he himself belonged to her lineage.

He never expected that this girl had created so many bizarre creatures here—though formidable, their completion level fell far short of the Curses.

The Curse suspected they might be offshoots created by this girl, somehow leaked out for reasons unknown.

At that moment, the girl suddenly noticed the Curse beside Luo En; she studied him curiously, then appeared before him in an instant.

The Curse felt dread; he stared at the girl, sensing her appearance was strangely familiar—as if he had seen her before—but when he tried to recall, nothing came to mind.

The girl exclaimed in surprise:

"You carry an aura I find deeply familiar—could you be...?"

The Curse said:

"We are the Curses, a race that suddenly appeared."

The girl suddenly embraced the Curse and cried out:

"I never thought you'd appear here so late—I assumed you'd find us soon, yet after so many years, I've finally seen you again."

"You were created by me; I sought to forge the perfect life-form, so I traveled everywhere gathering genes until I discovered a power and speed pushed to their limits—and thus I created you."

"Then I released you into a place, hoping you'd thrive there and evolve into the perfect beings I envisioned—but..."

Here, the girl studied the Curse from head to toe, a satisfied smile appearing on her face.

Luo En frowned slightly; this girl possessed terrifying power—she could create life.

Though he didn't know how she did it, the mysterious aura radiating from her told Luo En she was no ordinary being.

"Yet you are not one of the original batch I created—you must be their descendant."

The Curse nodded and said:

"Yes, I am their descendant. Those elders have hidden elsewhere; I've never seen them, nor do I know their strength."

The girl smiled and nodded; even their descendants were so perfect—surely the originals were even stronger.

"You are truly my most perfect masterpiece."

Saying this, she patted the Curse's shoulder.

The Curse stared at the girl in awe; his creator stood before him—he longed to ask everything about his origins, yet he lacked the courage.

He watched her nervously, silent.

Luo En stepped forward and said:

"Look at what you've created—these beings are precisely why humans suffer so greatly; they disrupt humans everywhere—they are our enemies."

The girl glanced at Luo En coolly and replied irritably:

"If humans are strong enough, let them defeat them—I won't favor either side. If they lack the ability, they deserve to be pushed aside."

Luo En hadn't expected the girl to say something like that.

"If that's the case, then killing your subjects is merely because they're too weak."

As he spoke, Luo En looked around; all the monsters in this region had been eliminated by him, yet it was clear the girl wasn't that angry.

Outside, Taiyilang stared anxiously at the door, but still no movement came from within—it filled him with deep concern for Luo En's safety.

I just patrolled outside and found no other curses, and I couldn't open this door either.

But he knew clearly that if he entered too, no one would remain to truly save them; what he must do now is keep his sanity and seek outside aid.

Suddenly, the door began to glow, and Taiyilang thought Luo En and the others were about to emerge—he rushed forward to meet them.

But after the light faded, a bottle-shaped object, like a gourd, suddenly appeared on the ground.

Taiyilang was startled; he picked it up and felt warmth radiating from it, as if several round beads lay inside.

Taiyilang didn't know what it was—he was about to open the gourd.

But he noticed fine patterns carved along its surface, resembling some kind of script.

Yet Taiyilang couldn't read those characters; just as he turned to leave, several curses suddenly appeared, surrounding him completely.

Taiyilang's heart sank to the bottom—he hadn't expected to be discovered at such a critical moment.

One of the curses stepped forward and demanded sharply.

"What are you doing here?"

Then he looked up and saw the door beside Taiyilang—his expression changed slightly.

"What is this door?"

Taiyilang said:

"I'm a merchant who stumbled in by accident; I happened upon this door and thought it might be something valuable."

"But after pondering for a long time, I still couldn't open it, so I decided to leave."

Another curse whispered quietly to the first, and the first curse's expression also shifted slightly.

He said to the other curse:

"Go quickly and inform my lord—the situation here has changed."

Taiyilang feigned calmness.

"So this is under my lord's jurisdiction—I didn't know, so please forgive my ignorance."

As he spoke, he bowed slightly downward.

The curses stared coldly at Taiyilang, their eyes brimming with murderous intent.

Taiyilang's heart pounded—he had already gripped the hilt of his sword at his waist; if they moved, he'd draw his twin blades immediately.

But his twin blades had long been broken; now he only had broken shards—usable, but far less effective than the originals.

Moments later, a cold wind swept in—with a thunderous boom—a massive surge of black mist surged forth.
