Chapter 604: Get Out

~6 min read 1,127 words

San Yue Qi's knee slammed into a pile of broken glass, a sharp stabbing pain shooting from her leg up to her head, but she couldn't pay attention to it, because the huge black silhouette had risen again from the ruins.

The monster's whole body was knotted with muscle, its gray‑purple skin covered in crimson patterns that writhed across its surface like living things, each breath emitting a dark red glow.

It—no, he—though he had lost his Reason String, the authority inherited from legend still pressed down on everyone—Hercules, the greatest hero of Greek myth, now appeared before them in his purest berserker form.

Bai Hang crouched not far from her, the Recurve Bow gripped in her hand, its string still trembling slightly.

Her Fox Ears clung tightly to the top of her head, her fluffy Tail stood rigid, and her azure eyes stared fixedly at the giant rising, sweat sliding from the corners of her forehead, gathering into droplets at her chin, then silently falling onto the broken stones at her feet.

"This guy…"

Bai Hang's voice was pressed low, trembling slightly, "No matter how we hit him, we can't kill him."

San Yue Qi gritted her teeth and pushed off the ground to stand.

Her Ice Bow was still in her hand, but her magical power was nearly exhausted.

In the dozen or so rounds of clash just now, she and Bai Hang had nearly exhausted every method—Time Stop, Time Acceleration, Ice Freeze, Fox Fire Arrow, Stealth Ambush—each strike precisely hitting a vital point, each time believing it was finally over, only for the giant to stand again seconds later, his wounds healing at a visible speed, the crimson patterns even becoming denser.

Twelve Trials.

That was Hercules's most famous Noble Phantasm as a Heroic Spirit—Twelve Lives; each time he is slain, he revives, and gains resistance to that method of attack.

San Yue Qi didn't know the legend, nor did Bai Hang, but their bodies already felt the Despair—each successful strike only brought a situation where the next damage would be even harder to inflict.

Hercules lifted his head, those eyes now crimson, locking onto them.

A deep roar came from his throat, sounding less like a human's and more like the scream of some ancient beast.

Then he moved.

The massive body surged toward them at a terrifying speed that defied its size, each step leaving a deep imprint, the broken bricks and tiles scattering everywhere under his foot.

He held no weapon in his hand, or rather he needed none; those arms, thicker than a man's thigh, were the best weapons, and his fists, capable of shattering city walls, were the finest arms.

"Get out—!"

San Yue Qi shoved Bai Hang aside in one motion, and leapt to the opposite side herself!

The massive fist brushed past San Yue Qi's back, the wind from the punch tearing her clothing, a scorching, fiery burn spreading across her skin.

The punch struck the ruins behind her, the pile of debris exploding instantly, scattering like cannonballs in all directions!

San Yue Qi rolled twice on the ground, dropped to one knee, and the Ice Bow was drawn to full tension in an instant!

Three Ice Arrows were released simultaneously, carving three icy‑blue trails in midair, aiming straight for Hercules's occiput, throat, and heart!

Hercules didn't even turn his head.

He merely flicked his hand, and the three Ice Arrows were swatted away by his palm, larger than a fan; two shattered midair into Ice Shards, while the third, though lodged in his arm, only penetrated an arrowhead's depth before he casually pulled it out, the wound healing within seconds.

Bai Hang seized the chance, slipping around to his back; the Recurve Bow was drawn, a shaft glowing with a pale blue light perched on the string.

She released the string, the arrow silently slicing the air, and at the instant Hercules turned, it struck his back with pinpoint accuracy!

"Boom!"

A pale blue Flame erupted on his back, its glare so bright that San Yue Qi couldn't help squinting.

Hercules let out a roar, his movement visibly lagged for a heartbeat—the Flame obscured his sight, interfering with his perception.

It was that instant!

San Yue Qi didn't hesitate, shouting the slogan she'd uttered countless times: "Zawa Rudo—!!!"

Time, Stop.

The world solidified.

The drifting dust froze midair, the burning Flames ceased their flicker, Hercules remained in his punching pose, his snarling face locked in that moment.

As San Yue Qi surged forward, Bai Hang also moved—her Assassin class granted her speed that peaked at that instant, two silhouettes darting left and right like twin lightning bolts toward the frozen giant.

San Yue Qi's Ice Arrows shot from the front, a dozen plus Ice Arrows striking Hercules's chest, abdomen, and limb joints simultaneously, the ice spreading over him, freezing half his body into an ice statue.

Bai Hang slipped around to his back, the Recurve Bow pressed against his cervical spine, a shaft that had consumed most of her magic fired straight into that spot—one of the most vulnerable points of a human, even a hero's body could not fully guard.

Seven seconds elapsed.

The instant time resumed its flow, Hercules let out an earth‑shaking roar!

The ice on his body exploded instantly, the fragments scattering like countless blades outward!

San Yue Qi was cut on the arm by a fragment, Bai Hang was struck on the shoulder by another; both staggered back, nearly falling.

But that arrow truly wounded him.

A deep wound split his back of the neck, dark red blood gushing from it, flowing down his back.

He reached out to touch the wound, lowered his head to stare at the blood in his palm, a flicker of confusion flashing in his crimson eyes.

Then he lifted his head, looking at Bai Hang.

That gaze, more ferocious than before.

"It's over…"

Bai Hang swallowed, "He remembered me."

Hercules gave her no time to think.

He seized a broken rebar nearby, as thick as an arm and over two meters long, which in his hand was like a toothpick.

He hurled the rebar at Bai Hang with a speed faster than a bullet!

Bai Hang's pupils contracted, her body instinctively lunged to the side—the rebar skimmed her shoulder, she could even feel the cold metal grazing her skin, and then—

"Boom—!!!"

The rebar pierced the building behind them.

It was a supermarket.

The supermarket's sign was smashed to pieces, the whole wall collapsed with a roar, dust and debris cascading down like a waterfall.

Then, from that wreckage, surged—

Monkeys.

Countless Monkeys.

They poured out of the collapsed supermarket in a swarm, like ants whose nest has been pierced, covering the sky and earth.
