Chapter 11: Small but Cute
[Relationship established successfully, current trust level two.]
[Relationship established successfully, current trust level two.]
Seeing both trust levels were two, Muyue nodded inwardly. He hadn't wasted his efforts disguising himself as prey to lure them in.
Muyue felt that trust levels were quite difficult to raise; they likely required time to grind. If the trust level were one, the early-stage gains would be much lower.
[Two disciples with potential of S or above obtained; Skill Teaching acquired.]
[Teaching: Knowledge you impart is more easily absorbed.]
A very straightforward and crude skill, yet also very powerful—it simply enhanced the effectiveness of lectures and instruction.
Muyue gave it a try; it was a passive skill that could be toggled.
But since it had no drawbacks, Muyue naturally kept it on. Unless one day Danzo saw he was a good teacher and sent him to Root to teach—then he would turn it off.
The only thing that disappointed Muyue was that the number of returns from teaching disciples did not increase with the number of disciples; it was still once a day.
He had thought that if making food for Shisui gave him fifty chakra in one burst, then feeding three disciples daily would guarantee at least one hundred fifty chakra a day—much faster than grinding classes. But it turned out he was overthinking.
Still, having three disciples meant that even if there was only one chance, it was better than having just one person.
Because human emotions have thresholds; under gradual stimulation, the threshold slowly rises, making it harder to trigger big emotional bursts for big rewards.
With three people, he could take turns triggering coin drops. Not only would the number of big rewards increase, but it would also slow down the growth of emotional thresholds.
"And the current growth rate is acceptable." Muyue muttered to himself as he glanced at his status panel.
[Name: Habu Muyue]
[Age: 18]
[Chakra: 4405]
[Skills: Fire Style: Great Fire Dragon Technique, Water Style: Water Formation Wall, Wind Style: Pressure Damage, Teaching…]
Compared to when he first transmigrated, Muyue had increased his chakra by one hundred and five points. Ninety of those came from classes and disciple-teaching returns, and the remaining fifteen came from his own training and the reverse returns from disciples.
And this was just the result of five days, because most of Muyue's rewards were various jutsu.
If Muyue focused entirely on chakra, just from classes alone he could guarantee at least one hundred chakra a week, not counting returns from teaching disciples.
But Muyue felt that at this stage, it was better to go for A-rank rewards or split evenly between A and B ranks.
The jutsu rewarded by the system for teaching were learned immediately—not just basic learning, but directly mastered to a combat-ready level.
If it was a jutsu of an element he hadn't mastered yet, it would come with nature transformation built in. If he got a duplicate, it increased experience—very thoughtful.
If he had to spend time practicing those jutsu on his own, it would consume considerable time, and figuring out how to acquire the training methods would also be a problem.
But once he had more means under his belt, Muyue felt he should focus on chakra, since chakra was the foundation of any shinobi.
"Sensei, I'm done!" Obito, eager to learn new jutsu, finished the test with one hundred twenty percent seriousness.
"I'm done too." Might Guy reported without wanting to fall behind.
"Two people…" Muyue was glad this was the world of Naruto, where the Clone Technique was incredibly common.
Muyue split off a shadow clone and said, "First, go explain the principle of the Leaf Whirlwind to Guy, then demonstrate it a few times."
Since one studied taijutsu and the other studied ninjutsu, Muyue couldn't teach them together, so he had to use a shadow clone.
He planned to first teach Obito ninjutsu with his main body, while the clone explained things to Guy.
After teaching for half an hour, they would switch—the main body would teach Guy, and the clone would teach Obito.
Muyue wouldn't be a biased teacher giving all attention to one; he wanted to share his warmth with every disciple.
Just like when he taught Shisui, Muyue meticulously broke down the explanations, practically holding their hands.
[You taught your disciple Fire Style: Great Fire Dragon Technique. The disciple was extremely grateful, triggering a critical reward. You obtained Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet Technique (Proficient).]
Muyue fell into thought. He remembered he had also taught Shisui the Great Fire Dragon, but back then it didn't count as a disciple return.
He thought of a possible reason: his Great Fire Dragon had been obtained from Shisui's critical reward. Perhaps rewards obtained from the same disciple couldn't be used for further returns.
Muyue silently noted this hidden rule.
"Don't tell me it's that Water Dragon Bullet with forty-four hand signs." Mu Yue couldn't help but complain inwardly, recalling Kakashi and Zabuza's Water Dragon Bullet.
Watching anime with hand signs like that might look cool, but in reality, a jutsu that requires that many signs is hard to pull off unless someone provides a distraction for you.
The system's proficiency level did not disappoint Mu Yue—he only needed six signs, and with continued practice, the more proficient he became, the more he could simplify the hand signs.
After teaching Obito for half an hour, Mu Yue went to Might Guy to offer him guidance, leaving a clone to instruct Obito.
After teaching both, he would also go to advise Shisui, constantly moving among the three.
By noon, Mu Yue personally went into the river to catch four fish, then lit a fire to roast them—one each for lunch.
"This is really delicious, Mu Yue-sensei. If you opened a barbecue shop, business would definitely be great," Obito praised as he ate.
Shisui and Might Guy nodded in agreement.
"Be careful, don't swallow any fish bones," Mu Yue said, shaking his head with a smile.
Was it good? Mu Yue thought it was probably quite ordinary, because he really didn't have barbecue skills and rarely barbecued.
The reason they found it delicious was partly the great atmosphere, which enhanced the sensory experience.
Shisui usually ate alone at home and probably rarely had meals with so many people, especially outdoors.
Obito usually ate with his grandmother, and Might Guy with his father.
On top of that, they hadn't eaten this kind of grilled fish much, so there was a sense of novelty. With all these factors added, even the ordinary grilled fish became delicious.
After eating, they rested for an hour, then Mu Yue led the three of them to continue training.
"Actually, this jutsu isn't that hard." Obito looked at the round, chubby fire dragon he had conjured with a great sense of accomplishment—it went much smoother than his previous practice of the Great Fireball.
Coincidentally, Shisui was also practicing the Great Dragon Fire and spewed out a fire dragon.
Looking at Shisui's fierce fire dragon with its snarling face, full of fangs, and imposing aura, Obito silently controlled his own cute little fire dragon to hide behind him.
Might Guy, who had performed who knows how many Leaf Whirlwinds, wiped off his sweat and was about to stop to rest when he happened to see this scene.
Perhaps because of their shared hardships that morning, Might Guy walked over to console him: "It's okay, your fire dragon is small and cute—it will become as strong as Mu Yue-sensei sooner or later."
Although it was meant as comfort, for some reason Obito felt an inexplicable sense of frustration that made him very uncomfortable.
This frustration instantly made Obito, who had been planning to rest, full of energy again, and he resumed practicing the Great Dragon Fire technique.
Seeing Obito so driven, Might Guy refused to be left behind; after resting for a while, he quickly continued training.
"These two are quite in sync." Mu Yue, who had been watching from the side, could barely hold back a smile—he noticed that Obito and Might Guy together really had something going on.
After training until dinner time, Mu Yue told them to go home and informed them to continue tomorrow.
On Sunday, they trained again for a whole day, and the teaching reward gave a burst of fifty chakra points.
Then a new week began…
