Chapter 139: Twin Tails and the Cart Ruts in the Forbidden Forest
The weather had grown colder without anyone noticing; Hogwarts had already received its first snowfall of the school year. Young wizards had all changed into thick winter clothes, and no one wished to linger in the cold castle courtyard; everyone hurried with swift steps into the warm indoors.
And today's random transfiguration did not disappoint Allen, bringing him a new surprise.
When he woke up in the morning, Allen discovered his body was covered by a large amount of rope-like fur resembling tassels...
Allen immediately understood that today he had changed skin—he had randomly acquired the skin of some creature.
However, today's new skin still exceeded Allen's knowledge; he had truly never seen a creature grow such fur, looking just like a mop used for mopping floors.
What Allen did not expect was that Thomas recognized at a glance what animal's skin Allen had randomly acquired today.
"Komondor fur is just like this! I've always wanted to raise one, but this breed is too big, and Mom never lets me raise one." Thomas said enviously while stroking the long fur on Allen's body.
Allen pushed aside the long fur blocking his eyes; this action felt very novel to him, who was always short-haired.
"I didn't expect there to be such a dog, but today's one is fine; it won't cause too much trouble for my life, it's just that I don't know how to wear today's clothes..." Allen said somewhat worriedly, holding his robe.
"Actually, you could consider not wearing any!" Ron teased. "Your fur is so thick today; with this weather, you won't feel cold at all, right? I estimate you'd feel very hot if you put on clothes."
"Get lost!" Allen gave Ron a white-eyed glare.
As it turned out, he found Ron was very right; he had barely managed to put on a sweater, only to discover he would be extremely hot because of it, as this layer of fur was too thick...
In the end, he simply made up his mind, found a summer short-sleeved T-shirt and shorts to put on, and then went out just like that.
As soon as he left the Gryffindor tower, he was attacked by a cold wind mixed with snowflakes; the mop-tassel-like fur danced wildly in the wind, but the thick fur completely blocked the incoming cold wind, making him feel not the slightest chill.
It was just that the long fur somewhat obstructed his vision, forcing him to constantly push aside the hair in front of his eyes.
Other young wizards passing by could not help but slow their steps when they saw Allen, looking at him curiously a couple more times; although Allen often brought people surprises, this style of look was a first.
Allen paid no attention to others' curious glances; braving the cold wind, he came with Harry and Ron to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Hermione was already in the Great Hall; she had finished breakfast and was reading a thick book.
She also recognized at a glance that the fur Allen had randomly acquired today was that of a Komondor.
This made Allen somewhat surprised; it seemed this kind of dog was quite famous in Britain, as he had never heard of it in his previous life.
But these long hairs also brought him some trouble; when he drank porridge, these long hairs would mischievously dangle into his bowl, greatly affecting his appetite.
"I think you should tie up the fur on your chin," Hermione suddenly suggested, having been observing Allen.
Allen felt this was a good idea. "Do you have a hair tie for tying hair?" Allen asked.
"Yes! And I can tie it for you; you probably won't tie it well." Hermione laughed very happily; she had found something very fun to do.
Allen was delighted by this, allowing Hermione to tie up the fur on his chin.
"Allen, I think you should also tie up the fur on your head; the Komondor's long fur that blocks the eyes is meant to resist wind and snow, so it will only affect your life." Ron also suggested.
Allen thought Ron's suggestion was also very good, so Hermione started busy on Allen's head again; in a moment, she had tied up the long fur on Allen's head...
The annoying long fur was finally gone from Allen's sight; he felt much clearer before his eyes.
But he discovered Harry and Ron were struggling hard to hold back their laughter.
"What are Harry and Ron laughing at?" he asked Hermione in confusion.
As it turned out, he discovered Hermione had already run far away.
He touched his head in confusion, only to discover Hermione had tied him into a pair of twin tails...
Hermione later apologized to Allen for this, but Allen did not take it to heart; in this life, he had already died socially too many times at Hogwarts, so he had developed a big heart; he was already accustomed to this, and the teachers and students of Hogwarts were even more accustomed to it.
But Allen still underestimated the lethal effect of today's look on the teachers and students of Hogwarts; everyone who saw Allen was amused by his image, and a cheerful atmosphere filled the air.
Luna, whom he had met on the Hogwarts Express, specially ran over to greet him and reminded him to pay attention to Nargles with such long fur, leaving him completely baffled.
During Potions class, Allen's long fur accidentally fell into the cauldron; fortunately, he handled it very quickly, giving Professor Snape no opportunity to deduct points.
By the time afternoon classes ended, Allen suddenly realized today was already Friday, the day he was supposed to work for Hagrid.
So after dinner, he hurriedly bid farewell to his friends, braved the cold wind, stepped on the ice and snow, and arrived in front of Hagrid's hut.
But he heard a snoring sound in front of Hagrid's hut...
This was the first time he had encountered such a thing; how could Hagrid start sleeping so early? Hagrid was very serious about his work, and today's work was clearly not finished.
Allen gently pushed the door, discovered it was not locked, so he pushed the door open and went straight in.
Fang looked alertly at this strange uninvited guest, emitting a "woof-woof" threatening sound from his mouth...
Allen quickly spoke out: "Fang, don't be nervous! It's me."
Hearing this familiar voice, Fang instantly relaxed, came over to affectionately lick Allen's hand, although he licked a mouthful of fur...
Only then did Allen begin to observe the situation inside the house.
He saw Hagrid lying on the recliner inside the house, fast asleep with a strong smell of alcohol all over him; several empty wine bottles were placed on the ground nearby.
Allen went up and shook Hagrid hard, but Hagrid only muttered and rolled over, showing no sign of waking up...
He could only find Hagrid's blanket to cover him; during this process, he also saw a small cushion woven from unicorn hair in Hagrid's cabinet, making poor Allen smack his lips in awe...
Then he fell into a dilemma: should he continue to patrol the Forbidden Forest under these circumstances today?
He quickly had an answer—go!
Mainly because over the past year and more, he had patrolled the Forbidden Forest dozens of times and was already quite familiar with the outskirts; additionally, last year when Hagrid was busy raising dragons, he had patrolled the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest alone several times.
So he decided to patrol the Forbidden Forest alone today, after all, he had to be worthy of the salary the school gave him.
So he took Fang and set off; it was somewhat difficult to walk in the snow, but he quickly thought of a good method.
He first cast a Levitation Charm on himself, making his feet leave the ground, then pulled Fang's dog leash and commanded Fang to run ahead.
This saved him a lot of effort; he only needed to be careful not to hit trees.
He quickly patrolled each point around the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest; everything was normal.
But when he patrolled to the last point, he discovered something different...
He saw two sets of cart ruts on the snow extending deep into the Forbidden Forest...
He carefully identified the rut marks and discovered they were actually car tire tracks...
Why would there be cars in the Forbidden Forest?
Allen gazed thoughtfully in the direction where the cart ruts extended...
