Chapter 140: The Magic Car and Magical Intelligence

~7 min read 1,288 words

Allen first ruled out the possibility that Muggles had driven a car into the Forbidden Forest, because magic had been cast around Hogwarts; Muggles approaching would only get lost and could not possibly reach a location so close to Hogwarts.

Looking at the tire tracks on the ground, he recalled that at the start of the term, Harry and Ron had arrived at Hogwarts in a flying car, which later crashed into the Whomping Willow, causing it serious injury.

Then the Whomping Willow had furiously attacked that car and Harry and Ron inside it; despite their efforts, they managed to escape the Whomping Willow's range of attack.

Finally, the severely damaged flying car simply flung Harry, Ron, and their luggage out of the vehicle, then charged alone into the Forbidden Forest.

The entire incident was full of many eye-catching highlights, but what attracted Allen most was the flying car's surprisingly human-like behavior at the end.

Allen could understand every point of the entire incident, but only that final human-like behavior left him utterly baffled.

This behavior exceeded his understanding; why would the Weasley family's magic car exhibit such human-like behavior?

At the time, based on Ron and Harry's descriptions, he had deduced that the magic car had developed magical intelligence.

He had never heard of any magic capable of granting simple intelligence to an object.

At that time, he had considered directly asking the car's creator—Mr. Arthur Weasley—but ultimately gave up.

First, because he was not close to Mr. Weasley; rashly inquiring about such secret magical knowledge would seem very impolite;

second, because he was somewhat uncertain about the authenticity of Harry and Ron's account; after all, having experienced such a thrilling adventure and been asked by many to recount the process repeatedly, some exaggeration in their description was normal; what if this was merely Harry and Ron's exaggeration? Wouldn't he have gotten excited for nothing?

Now, looking at the tire tracks on the ground, Allen felt these tracks were left by the Weasley family's magic car.

He couldn't help feeling delighted; it seemed Harry and Ron's description of the magic car charging into the Forbidden Forest was true, and that magic car was indeed wandering deep within the Forbidden Forest.

A thought suddenly arose in his mind to follow the tire tracks and find that magic car—he wanted to confirm whether that magic car truly possessed magical intelligence.

Once this idea appeared, it took root in his mind and could not be removed no matter how hard he tried.

Recently, although he had DIY-ed his first first Transformed Beast, the path of the Transformed Beast seemed to have an immediately visible ceiling—the floor was quite high, but the ceiling was not very high.

The most critical issue to solve was the control problem of Transformed Beasts; if he could find a method to create magical intelligence, the ceiling of Transformed Beasts would be greatly raised.

Because having magical intelligence would mean he wouldn't need to split his attention to control the Transformed Beasts; the Transformed Beasts would possess certain independent combat capabilities, or even cooperative combat abilities.

Right now, he could control at most two Transformed Beasts; if Transformed Beasts had intelligence, could he then control ten, a hundred, or even more Transformed Beasts?

How many wizards are there in the entire wizarding population of the British Wizarding World?

Thinking of this, Allen felt a surge of emotion: "I am the swarm!"

As for whether having so many magical-intelligence Transformed Beasts would cause a magical version of the "Skynet Crisis," that was not something he could consider now; besides, the Transfiguration spell had a duration, so this problem would not arise.

A cold wind woke Allen from his reverie.

He stopped his daydreaming, looked again at the tire tracks extending deep into the Forbidden Forest, and his heart began to waver.

Over a year of patrols had made him fairly familiar with the Forbidden Forest; he had ventured into its depths several times. Except for that one dangerous encounter with Quirrell and Voldemort, he had not encountered any real danger; these experiences had given him some inexplicable confidence.

Looking at the sky, it was still early; returning so early would accomplish nothing, and he was no longer the same person as before; now he could transform into a Blade Leopard, and the Blade Leopard could easily deal with close-combat creatures like werewolves in the Forbidden Forest.

There were centaurs in the Forbidden Forest with ranged attack capabilities; he had encountered them several times, so he felt venturing deep into the Forbidden Forest once would not be dangerous.

The only thing he was somewhat worried about was that he was not wearing his Hogwarts uniform today; aside from his mop-like long fur, he had no identifying marks, so he feared the centaurs wouldn't recognize him; but then he thought, wasn't Fang still with him? The centaurs certainly knew Fang.

Moreover, the snow had stopped falling; the tire tracks on the snow would remain visible for several days, so there was no risk of getting lost.

Thus, Allen made a firm decision; he found a broken large tree, transformed a section of its trunk into a Blade Leopard, and let it walk ahead to scout the path.

Then he continued to let Fang pull him forward along the tire tracks.

After walking a while, he suddenly realized: since he had already cast the Levitation Charm on himself, why was he still floating stiffly in midair like an obvious target? Riding directly on Fang's back would be much better; anyway, with the Levitation Charm in effect, Fang would bear no weight; this way, if a sudden attack occurred, Fang might even be able to block it for him.

So he did exactly that; Fang did not object to Allen riding on his back; instead, he became even more excited.

Seeing Fang's excited expression, Allen suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Had today's "Cunning Dog" skin influenced him? Why was he being so "dog-like" today? Allen thought silently in his heart.

The Forbidden Forest in winter was still very desolate; many trees had become bare, with long icicles hanging from their branches like silver necklaces. The Forbidden Forest had lost its summer liveliness and become quiet; after walking for half a day, no animals were visible, only occasional animal footprints on the snow proving that creatures still existed in this forest.

One person, one dog, and one leopard moved quickly; they had walked for at least half an hour. The sky darkened; Allen summoned a light orb to float above the Blade Leopard, letting it illuminate the path ahead. The tire tracks on the ground remained very clear, but the long fur on Allen's body kept getting caught on low branches, forcing him to stop multiple times to deal with this problem. He felt the ground sloping downward further, although the surrounding trees had not changed.

At this moment, Fang suddenly let out a loud bark that echoed endlessly through the woods; the sound shook snow and icicles from the trees and startled Allen.

Allen quickly drew his wand, crouched low on Fang's back, observed the surroundings, and simultaneously commanded the Blade Leopard, which was in plain sight, to wander around.

The Blade Leopard's silver armor, under the light orb's illumination, stood out particularly conspicuously in the dim Forbidden Forest, making it an especially good target.

But after a long while, no attacker appeared in the forest; yet Allen dared not relax even slightly; he faintly heard a strange sound...

He listened carefully.

A large object was clearing a path through the bushes some distance to his right, snapping countless branches...
