Chapter 193: Sideswipe Attacks
"Am I a step too late?"
Driving all the way in his Chevrolet sports car form, Sideswipe entered the Base through the hidden passage of the Nuclear Missile Silo, and only after transforming back into his combat form upon entry did he see a severed arm of Mudflap lying quietly in a corner of the Base.
"Not good..."
His brow furrowed sharply; although Sideswipe did not like the very noisy twins, as a member of the Autobots and one of his teammates for this operation, if he had been lost here, Sideswipe would not look good either.
Just a moment ago, while he was conversing with the human Commander of the allied forces, he had suddenly received a communication from Ironhide.
He told Sideswipe that he had just received an emergency distress call from Mudflap, who had encountered Decepticons and might be in danger, and hoped Sideswipe could hurry over to provide support.
As for Ironhide himself, that hot-tempered guy was practically about to explode.
He had been lured into a trap set by the Decepticons and was trapped in a corridor within the Base that was covered in strong electromagnetic interference devices; although his life was not in danger, he was temporarily unable to break free.
After receiving the communication, Sideswipe immediately rushed over at full speed to provide support.
What he did not expect was that upon arriving at the location, the battle here had clearly already ended.
Aside from a severed arm in the corner, Mudflap's corpse was nowhere to be seen.
His gaze swept toward the vicinity, only to see some shell casings and two damaged Machine Guns.
Not seeing Mudflap's corpse, and realizing that this guy might still be alive, Sideswipe's brow relaxed slightly.
Seeing that not far ahead was a straight corridor leading to the depths of the Base, he had just walked over when his eyes suddenly sharpened, his chassis immediately tensed, and he entered a combat state.
"Rat-tat-tat..."
"Rat-tat-tat..."
Two tongues of fire suddenly erupted from within the corridor.
Sideswipe nimbly leaped to dodge the strafing fire, his gaze once again locking onto the depths of the corridor, and he immediately found the target that had ambushed him.
"Decepticons? Huh..."
Sweeping his gaze lightly over the two targets that had ambushed him, Sideswipe immediately sensed something strange.
The two that had suddenly emerged from the depths of the corridor to ambush him were two robots whose chassis were not very tall; they were only about two point seven or eight meters in height, at least two heads shorter than Sideswipe.
What made him feel even stranger was that although these two robots looked fully armed, each holding a multi-barreled Machine Gun in their right hand and firing at him incessantly, and holding a Grenade launcher in their left hand, Sideswipe could not sense any life fluctuations from them.
"Not Decepticons!"
Realizing this immediately, Sideswipe let out a cold snort, "So they are just two man-made Combat Robots!"
With a light flick of his arm downward, two sharp, triangular-shaped weapons that were like blades yet not quite blades appeared in his palms.
As the Autobots' most excellent melee Warrior, Sideswipe had abandoned long-range combat and heavy-firepower, large-caliber weapons in exchange for astonishing mobility and close-quarters combat ability.
Looking across all the Autobots, apart from a few Autobot Warriors like Drift, only Optimus Prime could defeat Sideswipe when engaging him in close-quarters melee.
Transforming into the most terrifying assassin, Sideswipe had killed countless Decepticons during the two Cybertronian Civil Wars, and even many Decepticon Advanced Warriors had fallen by his hand, so how could he fear these two strange man-made Combat Robots before him?
"Boom!"
Leaping up, relying on his excellent jumping ability, Sideswipe flexibly dodged the machine gun fire from the two Combat Robots before him while still not forgetting to close the distance between them, preparing to wipe out these two man-made robots in one fell swoop.
The Combat Robots' electronic eyes locked onto him, and after their processors quickly made the two combat-type robots realize his intent, the two robots, whose intelligence was clearly insufficient, had no intention of taking a step back; besides adjusting the angles of their machine guns to continue firing at him, both simultaneously raised their right hands to reveal the Grenade launchers in their hands.
"Whoosh..."
Several Grenades were fired in succession, shooting toward Sideswipe in mid-air.
"Oh, interesting..."
Sideswipe's eyes lit up; he was a battle fanatic by nature, and when he went crazy, he did not fear injury at all.
At this moment, he clearly could have found dozens of ways to dodge so that the opponent would not hit him.
However, because Sideswipe had calculated early on that after landing, he could kill at least one of them instantly.
He simply used the Triangular Blade held tightly in his left hand to block in front of his chest, protecting the few parts of his body that needed protection most.
"Boom..."
One Grenade after another soon hit the blade surface, and several more slammed into his lower abdomen and left thigh, causing sparks to fly and leaving some tiny cracks on his chassis.
Sideswipe ignored all of this, and after landing beside the two Combat Robots with a cold sneer on his face, he kicked one of the robots, sending it flying and slamming it hard against the wall nearby.
At the same time, Sideswipe raised the Triangular Blade in his right hand and slashed down at the head of the other Combat Robot.
"Screech..."
Accompanied by the sharp, piercing sound of metal being torn, the Combat Robot that Sun Cheng had developed for testing was immediately slashed in half at the waist from the middle of its head by him.
"Hmph, pathetic!"
Waving the blade in his hand, Sideswipe sneered as he looked at the other Combat Robot that had just stood up not far away; seeing that it had locked onto him again, he flicked his left hand and threw the other Triangular Blade.
"Boom!"
That blade accurately hit the Combat Robot, piercing through its chest and pinning it firmly to the wall behind it.
Looking toward the depths of the corridor and failing to capture any other traces, he then retracted the Triangular Blade and walked straight to the front of the other Combat Robot he had pinned to the wall to pull out his weapon.
Performing a sword flourish, he put away the other Triangular Blade as well.
Sideswipe picked up this robot that had lost its combat capability, his electronic eyes looking at the opponent's head.
"Damn it..."
In the depths of the Base, nearly two kilometers away from Sideswipe, Sun Cheng let out a muffled grunt.
Just a moment ago, his Core had disconnected its link with the two Combat Robots.
Even worse, Sun Cheng had been locked onto; Sideswipe had followed the data link between his Core and those two robots, captured his current trail, and was rapidly pursuing him here.
After realizing this, he could not help but curse inwardly; at this point, how could he have the mood to feel heartache over anything? He hurriedly took a box of bombs out of the Spherical Space, set them briefly, threw them aside, and then fled at full speed toward the exit of the hidden passage that the Decepticon Workers had dug for him.
