Chapter 866: A Not-So-Pleasant Reunion (Part 1)

~7 min read 1,269 words

"It's a Temperature Weapon!"

Wiping a layer of frost that had begun to condense on his chassis due to the low temperature, Optimus Prime's expression was somewhat grave.

He led a team of faster Autobot Warriors, arriving at the battlefield immediately after the missile strike.

However, the sight of the white, icy world before them made the expressions of Optimus Prime and his Autobot Warriors turn rather grim.

Snowflakes drifted from the sky; the temperature here was forty to fifty degrees Celsius lower than it was a hundred kilometers away, reaching around minus forty degrees Celsius.

One must know that this was not even the epicenter of the missile explosions, which gives an idea of just how low the temperature was at the center when those Temperature Difference Bombs detonated.

Yet, even so, as Optimus Prime and his team arrived in the vicinity, they were met with scene after scene of human tragedy.

In a world seemingly blanketed by ice and snow, trees that should have evolved to adapt to the low temperatures of the far north were now covered in thick layers of ice, having undoubtedly lost their lives.

Even the information returned by the exploration waves Optimus Prime emitted was enough to move him.

In the hidden parts of some forests and river valleys, Cemetery Wind soldiers had likewise been frozen into icicles by the low temperature.

"Can Earthlings manufacture Temperature Difference Bombs now?"

An Autobot soldier muttered.

Hearing this, Optimus Prime pondered for a moment before shaking his head to answer him: "The United States' Sector 7 has studied the AllSpark and Megatron's chassis for nearly a hundred years; their technology is indeed far ahead of other human nations, and they should be able to manufacture some temperature weapons. However, with Earth's current technology, they cannot master Temperature Difference Bombs of this magnitude!"

"Moreover, their own soldiers are here; if it were a missile launched by humans, they would have considered this!"

Optimus Prime already had some faint suspicions regarding the true owner of this batch of temperature missiles.

Although he felt some dissatisfaction in his heart, considering the Decepticon origin of the party responsible, he could only suppress that feeling of discontent.

"According to my preliminary estimate, the power of these Temperature Difference Bombs can freeze Decepticons within a hundred meters of the explosion center for a period of time. Let's pick up the pace; we cannot let this good opportunity slip by!"

Having said this, Optimus Prime took the lead, charging toward the few Decepticons closest to the Autobots that his exploration waves had captured.

The young Autobot Leader had not guessed wrong; a few minutes later, when he arrived at the target location, he immediately saw a somewhat disheveled Decepticon standing there with a face full of fury.

Clearly, that Decepticon had also heard Optimus Prime's footsteps, but unfortunately, his chassis was already encased in a thick layer of ice, making it impossible for him to move.

"Damn... Autobots!"

He let out an angry roar, but his speech was not fast.

Clearly, the extremely low temperature had already begun to affect this Decepticon's status, instinctively making him want to enter hibernation.

Because of their special life form, Cybertronians do indeed have a much stronger resistance to temperature than humans.

For example, the vast majority of them can rely on their chassis to fly in outer space, but that does not mean they do not fear extreme temperatures.

The vast majority of Cybertronians cannot withstand temperatures exceeding three thousand degrees Celsius.

And low temperatures are even more harmful to Cybertronians, who have a large number of electronic components inside their bodies; many Low-level Warriors and civilians with insufficient strength may be forced into a state of hibernation due to their status being restricted in temperatures of minus several dozen degrees Celsius.

"It's Dirge!"

The Triple Changer—Drift recognized this immobile Decepticon, "He is one of the members of the Seeker squadron!"

Optimus Prime nodded; as the young Leader of the Autobots, although he was previously a high-ranking Commander in the Autobot faction and had commanded over a hundred battles between Autobots and Decepticons,

one could not expect him to remember the data of every single Decepticon, as there were simply too many of them.

"Traitor!"

Dirge also recognized Drift; Megatron had always ruled the Decepticon Legion with absolute high pressure.

Because of this, for every traitor who dared to defect from the Decepticon Legion, he was never stingy with offering a bounty that would excite all Decepticons, so as to eliminate those defectors as quickly as possible.

Drift was the first Elite Warrior to defect from the Decepticon Legion to the Autobot faction as a Triple Changer.

Therefore, from the day he defected, the Decepticon Legion's pursuit and bounty on him began.

Sideswipe, in his sports car form, arrived a little slower and quickly transformed into his Autobot form; when he saw Dirge, a flash of killing intent crossed his eyes.

Without hesitation, he drew his triangle blade and quickly stepped forward, piercing through the ice layer in one strike, and incidentally running it through Dirge's chest.

"Why waste so much breath on them!"

Optimus Prime frowned slightly; he had wanted to see if he could extract some intelligence from the Decepticon's mouth.

However, he did not reprimand Sideswipe, because Sideswipe had also defected from the Decepticon Legion.

Back then, after he left, the Decepticon Legion not only began various pursuits of him, but even the relatives, friends, and comrades he had been close to during his time in the Decepticon Legion were all slaughtered.

So, if one were to discuss which former Decepticon who defected to the Autobot faction held the deepest hatred for the Decepticon Legion, Sideswipe could definitely rank in the top three.

The Temperature Difference Bombs' explosion absorbed the heat in the air, which also caused some Decepticons in the center of the explosion to temporarily lose their ability to act.

However, these bombs clearly could not restrict the Decepticons for too long; Optimus Prime thought for a moment and soon had the Autobots form teams of two or three, scattering to hunt down as many Decepticons as possible.

Consequently, by the time the main force of the Autobots arrived, thirteen Decepticons had already died at the hands of the Autobots.

However, with the arrival of the main Autobot force, the U. S. military's reconnaissance aircraft appeared once again high in the sky, ten thousand meters up.

Optimus Prime was one of the first Autobots to notice the U. S. military reconnaissance aircraft; facing the U. S. military Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft circling overhead, he stopped continuing his search for Decepticons.

After pondering for a moment, he looked up at the Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft in the sky, while blue data streams flickered in his eyes.

Soon, a burst of exclamations rang out inside a U. S. military command center located over a thousand kilometers away.

"... Report, our Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft has been subjected to a data intrusion from an unknown force; we are about to lose control of the reconnaissance aircraft!"

This sudden situation plunged the command center into brief chaos.

Until a few lines of English appeared on the large screen in the command center responsible for projecting the image information captured by the drone.

"... I am Optimus Prime, Leader of the Autobots. I personally express my sincere apologies for having to use this method to contact you."

"However, please rest assured; the reason the Autobots have appeared here is not because we intend to interfere in the conflict between the Decepticons and you, but to prevent these invaders from causing you even greater harm!"
