Chapter 246: The Great Daemon of the Battle

~7 min read 1,249 words

"How truly uncomfortable!"

Sinuoli muttered as he swung his great axe upward with force, but this blow was once again merely a superficial wound. The Great Unclean One's hide was already riddled with scars, and Sinuoli suspected that such a mass of corrupted flesh no longer had any so-called weak points.

"Crack!"

"Hah! That actually packs quite a punch!"

Sinuoli kept his eyes fixed on every move of the Great Unclean One, failing to notice the other Nurgle troops around him, and was struck twice by the twisted limbs of several human-sized monsters that were even more mutated than the Plaguebearers.

These creatures were like starving beasts, possessing a madness not found in ordinary Nurgle troops. Unlike the Nurgle Plaguebearers who were mortals in their former lives, these Forsaken were once powerful and proud Chaos Warriors.

They had once dedicated themselves to the ambition and glory of the Dark Gods, but now they indulged in slaughter out of rage and endless hunger. These Forsaken attacked Sinuoli violently, yet they could only leave a few marks on his stone-like body.

Sinuoli stomped the ground again, shaking them off before swinging his great axe to grant them release. But then, the Great Unclean One's flail and Ku'gath's projectile followed in quick succession.

"Urghaaa!"

Sinuoli let out a cry of pain; he threw his hammer, knocking away the head of the Great Unclean One's flail, while simultaneously using his great axe to hack at its leg. This choice was sound, but Sinuoli was overconfident and failed to dodge the projectile thrown by Ku'gath.

The previous special plague concocted for Dwarfs had hit Sinuoli like a stone sinking into the sea, which had caused him to lower his guard. But how could the former first Great Daemon under Nurgle be an easy opponent? Ku'gath would not fall in the same place twice.

This time, his projectile had been switched to a version effective against stone, and its powerful corrosiveness caused a large crater to appear on Sinuoli's ribs in an instant. Such massive damage was hard for even Sinuoli to endure, even in his Avatar of the Gods state.

Fortunately, Rogov and the other Slayers caught up; an opponent like the Great Unclean One gave them more fighting spirit than the spider demigod from before. If they could fell this Great Daemon with their axes, they could call themselves Daemon Slayers.

"Purlulu!"

The large mouth on the Great Unclean One's belly suddenly spewed out a heap of filth; stomach acid, tissues, and undigested remains from its last meal, along with highly toxic gas, sprayed directly into the faces of the charging warriors.

The filth he sprayed also had a spreading effect, clearing a fan-shaped area in front of the Great Daemon. Fortunately, the Slayers who had survived until now were sufficiently experienced, possessing ample knowledge in dealing with supernatural creatures, and everyone knew that such a large mouth on a belly could not be just for show.

Although weakened by the Great Vortex, the Great Unclean One was harder to deal with than the Ghor beasts encountered earlier. Unlike the four-armed bull-demon that relied purely on brute physical force, as a Greater Daemon, he possessed intelligence and a certain degree of spellcasting ability.

Besides sweeping left and right with his flail, the bell in the Great Daemon's hand also emitted strange noises as it shook, making the surrounding monsters even more frenzied and disrupting the warriors' minds.

Although the Dwarfs had not yet achieved results against the high-ranking Daemon, for the low-level Nurgle Daemons, these Dwarfs—who had received divine grace and feared no ordinary plague—were formidable opponents.

The Dwarfs' heavy armor effectively blocked the biting and tearing of the Nurglings and the attacks from the Plaguebearers' rusted weapons. Their massive amount of Artillery and fire caused huge damage while also making it difficult for these masses of flesh to regenerate.

Ku'gath had originally been sitting atop Nurgle's Palanquin, gathering the Winds of Magic in an attempt to tear open another portal to send more minions from the depths of the Chaos Realm into the battlefield, but something seemed to stop him, and the Great Daemon never succeeded.

Watching his children being constantly broken through, Ku'gath could no longer hold back; he was no longer satisfied with throwing Nurglings and projectiles from afar and prepared to join the battle directly to reclaim his lost favor.

"Wahahaha, children, the Plague Parade is about to begin! Let us bathe in the Father's grace together!"

"Gululu, gululu! Stone stunties go into the tummy!"

The Plague Father shook his head and began his speech that rotted the very sky; this Great Daemon was a man of many talents. Besides being skilled in researching new plagues, he was also the great leader of his own army, possessing immense power to inspire all who bore the mark of Nurgle.

Sinuoli watched as the palanquin, laden with various chemical instruments, gradually approached under the escort of a large swarm of Nurglings, a hint of nervousness appearing on his literal statue-like face.

Although according to previous records, Ku'gath was not considered particularly strong in one-on-one combat, that was using first-sequence Great Daemons as a reference. He was certainly still a few notches stronger than an average Great Unclean One, and this one before them was not something they could resolve in a short time!

Ku'gath and the Daemons around him moved forward like a rolling green wave, grinning as they advanced.

Sinuoli shouted loudly, cheering on his subordinates and reorganizing the scattered formation to meet the impact.

"Sons of the Mountains! Ku'gath, this filthy abomination, is no match for us! The ancestors have defeated him three times before, and today we can defeat him again at Kalake-Zuen, the ancestral homeland, to settle the Grudge! Fight! In the name of the Ancestor Gods!"

"Brothers, the most evil and filthy fiend has descended upon the Mortal World; the Lady's gaze must surely be watching us here! For the Lady!"

Count Marvin was not to be outdone; this powerful Questing Knight believed that the opportunity for him to drink the Grail Water lay with Ku'gath, and his mount was also restlessly stamping its hooves.

"Stunties! Rotten wood cannot be carved, and walls of dung cannot be plastered!" Ku'gath looked down from above, highly dissatisfied with the Dwarfs' shiny, scale-like armor and their shield wall, which was harder than solid rock.

The Plague Father had deep experience with the strength of Dwarfs. These fellows had high natural physical resistance, were difficult to corrupt in their souls, and were extremely tenacious; it was not rare for them to fight until only the last one remained.

"Come!" Ku'gath raised both hands, and the Dwarfs discovered that the ground beneath their feet was trembling along with him; a huge, filthy, and pulsating boil was growing rapidly, and before they could move their short legs to escape,

"Puff! Boom!"

This tumor suddenly burst, splashing its disgusting liquid along with all its plagues onto Sinuoli's subordinates. This plague came from Ku'gath's hand; it was effective against Dwarfs, and neither the Humans nor the Amazon could escape its toll.

"Urghaaa!"

"Ugh!"

Sinuoli watched as his subordinates who were within the spell's range were knocked to the ground by the explosion from beneath the earth. As the toxicity spread, many who were not directly hit were also infected, wailing in agony. Rage and heartache made Sinuoli's eye sockets feel as if they were about to burst.

"Five, Five Corruptions Arrive! Isn't that exciting?"
