Chapter 14: Invading the Upper Hive
Bukayo had already gone ahead two standard stellar hours. As a "Child of the Night," once he fully merged into the Darkness, he immediately sensed an all-around enhancement of his physical fitness, thinking, and Spirituality.
He keenly found a remote and deep passage, relying on his youthful physique to squeeze into a channel that would not accommodate a normal person.
Bukayo carefully moved the grille of the power supply room, nimbly jumped onto the shoulder of the enemy below, and steadily plunged his sharp short blade into the enemy's eye.
The scream drew the enemy's attention, and footsteps sounded.
Bukayo's eyes flashed; he leaped up and pulled the power switch.
The deeper the night, the stronger he became.
This was his hunting ground, the site of his ritual of dedication after receiving the gift.
When Ninglu was still several kilometers away from the small building where the Arbiter was located, he smelled the scent of blood coming from it.
When he was one kilometer away from the main gate, he strode forward and charged.
With the previous experience of digesting the "Lawyer," he confirmed that just after drinking the "Barbarian" Potion, his digestion progress had already reached one-third.
Ninglu's core understanding of the "Barbarian" was to forcibly break the rules, not being constrained by a savage image; this coincided with his plan to unify Vostonia through the Primarch's martial power after awakening his Gene Memory.
Of course, if one broke the rules while also acting in a savage manner and leaving the same impression on others, then the digestion effect should be even better.
Thus, Ninglu, like a human tank, crashed directly into the squad of guards temporarily reinforcing the main gate.
The distance of one kilometer was too close for him; he couldn't even accelerate to his top speed before crashing into the crowd.
Eight people had just raised their guns, too late to aim, when their arms were bent like noodles from being knocked away, their chests collapsed, and they tumbled several times in the air.
A loud explosion cleared their blurred consciousness for a moment; their final sight was the entire wall of the Arbitration Room on the third floor of the small building collapsing.
The gang members saw it more clearly: their master took a running start, leaped up, smashed through the wall, and lifted the once high-and-mighty Arbiter.
Dimitrov's head smashed through the roof, and his vision was a blur.
"You are..." The Arbiter's pupils contracted violently. He recognized the identity of the giant before him from the deep pupils and the slightly familiar face, "Ninglu, how... how did you... become like this?"
Seeing that Ninglu did not answer, his consciousness grew increasingly blurred, and he struggled to speak.
"You killed me... Lord Estupinian... will not let you go."
"Thank you for the information."
Ninglu said, twisting Dimitrov's neck.
He picked up the Arbiter's broadcaster with his fingers, turned on the Dome broadcast channel, and turned to look at his subordinates.
"People say that for Lower Hive people to step into the Upper Hive is like ascending to heaven, and even the Lower Hive people themselves think so, holding no hope."
"Is it really impossible?"
"Now we are going to break all of this, without relying on the favor of the Upper Hive masters."
The Primarch's thunderous voice shook the entire Dome.
"I! Ninglu! Will lead you to step into the Upper Hive!"
Covered in blood, Bukayo pulled his short blade from the small of a guard's back, his eyes shining.
Just one work cycle ago, he thought he would never have the chance to return to the Upper Hive.
Now he would return to the Upper Hive with a new identity; he was a "Sleepless," and even more, Ninglu's "Child of the Night."
The workers of the Hantemanxi Dome picked up weapons and tools, walked out of the factories, and merged into the crowd.
The Captain of the guard for the freight elevator to the Upper Hive shouted, "Close the gate."
Amidst the dull sound of the gate being pulled, he ran quickly toward the control room; only there could he transmit the news of the Lower Hive rebellion to the other side of the vertical elevator.
After running only two steps, gunfire sounded behind him.
Luoersiliefu shot and killed the guard pushing the gate with one shot, leading a hundred elites to storm into the freight area. Ninglu had entrusted him with the heavy responsibility of seizing the elevator to the Upper Hive, and he would certainly not let his Lord down.
He did not yet know if Ninglu was the divine existence that others called him, but he would no longer use the term 'Boss'.
Since Ninglu denied being a god, he decided to address him as 'Lord' first. Following his Lord for this period, he also saw that what his Lord cared about more was loyalty and the ability to complete tasks without fail.
Ninglu boarded the freight elevator alone; inside the other seven elevators, each carried a ten-man elite squad.
The people gripping their weapons tightly felt their bodies rising rapidly; they saw the elevators rising or falling around them, the spiderweb-like pipes, and the glaring lights flickering in the smoke.
They could not help but exclaim.
"So this is what the Hive City is like; I only learned today."
"Looking at it now, the Dome looks just like an ant."
Upper Hive, Freight Area No. E-1989.
The Station Master saw the lights of F-17 Quyu turn on, and he frowned, saying with some dissatisfaction.
"The people of the Hantemanxi Dome are becoming less and less disciplined. This is the third time in five cycles they haven't notified us in advance. Even if production capacity has increased significantly, they shouldn't always do things without a word."
"Station Master, I heard that because Dimitrov performed well and the products handed over have continuously increased, he is about to be promoted to the Upper Hive, and besides..."
The statistician beside him lowered his voice, "Besides, I heard he has hooked up with a collateral branch of the Royal Family."
"He has good luck. A Ninglu appeared in the Dome. I heard he defeated the gold-medal Lawyer Golowen. Managing an industrial complex in a Dome is a waste of talent."
The Station Master said with envy. He understood Ninglu's choice even less; he heard that he had rejected the invitations of the Finde Family and a host of other great families to return to that rotten place, the Lower Hive.
He shook his head, picked up the communicator, and switched to the Finde Family's communication channel.
"People from the Hantemanxi Dome have arrived; send someone to pick up the goods."
"Sorry for the trouble, I'm coming right over."
The Station Master hung up the communication. Thinking of the coins he would receive in a moment for the trouble, his mood improved significantly. He leaned back and looked at the surveillance screen.
The next instant, his smile vanished abruptly; he widened his eyes and shouted in shock.
"What is that?"
The statistician leaned over, "Is it an Ogryn?"
The Station Master shook his head, seeing that giant grab a guard, swing him around, and sweep away a whole row.
He hurriedly picked up the communicator, just about to switch the communication channel.
A loud bang rang out, followed by the sound of shattering glass.
The station master discovered with horror that the giant had thrown a guard over.
Even more terrifyingly, after flying through the air for dozens of meters, the guard had actually smashed through the blast-proof glass.
He and the statistician had no time to dodge; they were knocked down by the incoming guard and fainted.
As a lawyer specially hired by the Finde Family, Ninglu had previously traveled back and forth to the Upper Hive via passenger trains, and this was his first time setting foot in a freight station.
But the moment he rushed out of the elevator, he grasped the surrounding environment and locked onto the location of the control room.
Ninglu issued an order to Luoersiliefu, "Cover the others as they come up."
Immediately, he looked up to search among the many Hive Towers piercing through the clouds, where the true power class of the Hive City resided—the major noble families.
Ninglu had been to one Hive Tower, which belonged to the Finde Family, but now he was looking for the Hive Tower of the Boleslaw Family.
He then locked onto two towers of equal height; clearly, the other one belonged to the servants of the Omnissiah.
