Chapter 38: 037 No Problem
Jin Ling and Lin’an will have two different approaches to work, which remains to be seen, but the setup in Shanghai has proceeded smoothly.
As a new employee, Yin Baoyi had clearly spent a full day with Yu Xing renting the office and knew that Guai Ai Net had just begun operations in Shanghai, yet she watched in disbelief as the company changed almost daily—no, half-daily!
In the morning there were only a few people; by evening, a crowd came in laughing and chatting.
By the next day, the office was so packed no one could stand, and the interns had to be sent outside for promotions, team formation, division of groups, commission explanations, and strategy discussions…
It was during this process that Yin Baoyi realized Yu Xing was not only sincere but also methodical in speech and action.
Yet on Wednesday evening, she couldn’t help but approach her boss, hesitantly bringing up the matter of equity.
“Equity? Oh right, Sister Yi, here’s how it is,” Yu Xing explained. “Our company is currently undergoing an equity change: 100% ownership will be held by the Xiangjiang company, but the procedures there are complicated and will take at least a month.”
“The equity allocated to outstanding talent is currently held in trust by me—currently 15%. After one month, a new Shanghai company will be registered, transferring the 15% equity to company-held shares, and finally, outstanding talent will hold equity in this newly registered company.”
“This way, your equity will receive the strongest legal protection!”
Yu Xing explained the company’s procedures clearly.
Yin Baoyi thought it over: “Uh, so right now…”
“We just need to sign a contract now; once the company finishes all procedures, we’ll transfer the equity to the new company,” Yu Xing said, writing out a contract, signing it, and stamping his fingerprint.
Yin Baoyi signed and stamped her fingerprint without fully understanding.
“Sister Yi, be honest—did you not understand any of that?” Yu Xing noticed her expression.
After a moment’s thought, Yin Baoyi nodded honestly, admitting she hadn’t quite grasped it.
Yu Xing smiled at her: “Then just say so—why sign a contract if you didn’t understand? Here, I’ll write the process on the back of the contract. Brother Feng has seen a lot; ask him when you get home.”
He sat back down, wrote out the company’s procedural steps and a rough timeline: according to estimates, everything would be completed by September at the earliest, December at the latest.
“The main uncertainty lies with the Hong Kong company,” Yu Xing added, explaining the timing issue.
This time, Yin Baoyi nearly understood, and couldn’t help raising her thumb: “Director Yu is thorough!”
“What’s due is due—what’s the big deal?” Yu Xing smiled. “We also need to get our website up as soon as possible, Sister Yi—you’ll have to help oversee and push it.”
Guai Ai Net currently operated a Taobao store and, after obtaining its business license, registered a Tmall store; now it was building a website, though it only displayed content without any functional features.
Of course, although Yin Baoyi, a programmer, had been hired, the website development had already been outsourced.
Yin Baoyi felt confident about this oversight task and readily agreed.
When she got home after work, she showed the contract and timeline to her boyfriend.
Song Yufeng examined it carefully, called a friend for advice, then said: “No real issues—yes, Hong Kong company equity changes involve more procedures and take longer.”
“Then the biggest issue now is whether the company can grow,” Yin Baoyi relaxed. “Have you heard anything about the matchmaking business?”
Song Yufeng folded the contract, frowned: “I asked around—seems there’s been no movement; Yin Daodong probably returned to Yangcheng.”
The parent company’s headquarters is in Yangcheng; this is just a branch.
Yin Baoyi snapped her fingers: “No news is good news—I told you, your company won’t be interested in our little piece of meat. Don’t worry needlessly.”
Song Yufeng nodded slightly; given the circumstances, this was indeed good news.
He took his girlfriend’s hand: “I’m traveling to Lin’an tomorrow, back by Saturday—you go ahead and make big strides here.”
Yin Baoyi, having witnessed the company’s explosive growth these past days, replied confidently: “Absolutely!”
Yet while potential shareholders had full confidence in the company, Yu Xing soon frowned over market expansion—not because of problems in Shanghai or Lin’an, but because the market manager sent to Beijing, Qiu Shixiu, was acting strangely.
The day after arriving in Beijing, Qiu Shixiu called to request a budget increase.
Yu Xing agreed.
Two days later, Qiu Shixiu complained that the employees he’d contacted were dissatisfied with the commission and wanted it raised further.
Yu Xing was shocked: “Each order is only 299 yuan—the top tier already gives away 200, and the team gets extra too—how else can you raise it?”
“But they’re still unhappy—I met ten interns today…” Qiu Shixiu was equally aggrieved.
Yu Xing was displeased: “I sent you to open the market, and all you do is ask for more budget or higher commissions—in just three days, what have you even been doing?”
He grew suspicious of Qiu Shixiu and, after hanging up, asked his deputy, Yan Qiuzhen, to verify what had happened over these three days.
“That’s true, Director Yu,” Yan Qiuzhen echoed the same complaints: “Rent near the universities is expensive; the air conditioner broke the first night, so I couldn’t sleep, and yesterday the water heater broke too—Director Yu, I’m not complaining, it’s just…”
Yu Xing became suspicious of both Qiu Shixiu and Yan Qiuzhen, suspecting they had formed an alliance in Beijing and were now scheming to extract more money—but… there was also the possibility their claims were genuine.
Guai Ai Net was short-staffed, and Beijing was too far away—truly out of reach.
After listening to their complaints, Yu Xing changed his tone, offered warm concern, patiently reassured them, then finally asked: “Since you feel the commission is too low, what level would be reasonable?”
Yan Qiuzhen said cautiously: “Individual maximum commission at 230, team additional to 240—what do you think, Director Yu?”
Yu Xing asked in return: “Will this enable the work to proceed? Will it be effective?”
“I think it should be fine,” Yan Qiuzhen said seriously. “That’s a 15% increase! Mainly, our business is hard for people to accept—we can only offer more money.”
Yu Xing paused: “If this change still doesn’t work, I’ll go to Beijing myself to lead the market expansion.”
He then agreed: “Time waits for no one—let’s do it this way. I expect results soon.”
Yan Qiuzhen immediately replied: “No problem, Director Yu!”
Yu Xing ended the call.
No problem, no problem—later, I’ll sell you and the whole company together, then it’ll be no problem at all.
