Chapter 894: Scrap Metal!

"The effect of Miracle's Afterglow revives the scrap beast!"

【Scrap Beast, ATK 1600】

During the attack declaration, the number of monsters on the opponent's field changed, naturally triggering a battle reversal. Sherry abandoned her attack and drew a card from her hand to set face-down.

"I set one card face-down. My turn ends."

At this moment, Sherry understood: compared to the mere one-thousand-point rebound damage from the dimensional wall, the opponent clearly cared more about keeping monsters on the field.

Perhaps the opponent even knew her "Centaur Mina" could negate trap effects, which is why he made this choice. It was not impossible.

Her Centaur Mina was a rare card, but not so rare as to be unique. The opponent, as Director of the Peacekeeping Bureau, had resources and insight far beyond ordinary people; it was no surprise he knew something about rare card data.

At this moment, "Gothwin" spoke: "You're showing your teeth. I can feel your fighting determination. But are you certain you understand why you fight?"

"Of course," Sherry said grimly. "Revenge. I've said it before. This is the ultimate meaning of my life—the one thing I must accomplish at all costs!"

"It was decided the moment my parents, my family, my life were taken from me!"

"Oh, really?" Fujiki You Xuan nodded. "Because everything was taken from you, you seek revenge. But is that truly what you want?"

"Or are you simply unable to face the reality of your loss, so you force yourself to adopt this goal just to keep moving forward?"

Sherry's expression twisted. "I don't understand what nonsense you're spouting. But if you think a few words can shake my resolve or affect my performance, you vastly underestimate my will as a duelist!"

"Ahahaha, sorry. Maybe I didn't express myself clearly. That's not what I meant."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

"I mean, if someone now offered you a new path—a path beyond revenge—with new choices, new possibilities, would you still be so steadfast in dedicating everything to revenge?"

Sherry's expression shifted slightly.

"If you're trying to recruit me, such a crude tactic won't work," Sherry said coldly. "Stop playing clever games. Keep dueling, Gothwin! If you've truly investigated me and learned my past, you'd know no condition could ever shake my iron will!"

"Don't speak so definitively—you don't even know my terms yet. But you're right, no matter how many promises I make, they're just empty words. I must demonstrate my strength first."

Fujiki You Xuan raised his dueling disk and drew a card.

"My draw phase."

Fujiki You Xuan played a spell card.

"Spell Card—'Book of Magic in the Pot.' Both players draw three cards."

"Next, Quick-Play Spell—'Cyclone!' Destroy the face-down card in the back row!"

A black tornado laced with lightning roared toward Sherry's face-down card.

"Centaur Mina can only negate trap effects, not spell effects, right?" Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

Sherry snorted. "Then I chain to Cyclone with my face-down card—Trap Card—'Surface Peace!'"

"This turn, neither player's monsters can be destroyed by battle. And whenever your monster inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you may destroy one spell or trap card on your opponent's field."

"I see. A card to protect monsters for defense."

Fujiki You Xuan then placed a monster card onto his dueling disk.

"This card cannot be Normal Summoned. But if I control a 'Scrap' monster, I can Special Summon it."

"Special Summon 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' from my hand!"

Black metallic armor encased its body, two metallic dog heads mounted on either side of a steel neck. The two-headed dog landed on all fours, its four eyes glowing dark purple and deep green, cold and chilling as if glowing from the depths of the netherworld.

Black metal armor covered the body, with two metallic dog heads mounted one on each side of the steel neck. The two-headed dog landed on all fours, its four eyes glowing with dim purple and deep green light, cold and chilling as if emanating from the depths of the Nine You Hell.

"But using this effect for Special Summoning comes at a cost," Fujiki You Xuan said. "When 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' is Special Summoned this way, I must destroy one 'Scrap' monster on my field."

"I choose to destroy 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' itself."

Sherry and Qiu outside the field both stared in astonishment: "Special Summoning it with its own effect, then immediately destroying it?"

What was the point of this?

In that instant, Fujiki You Xuan revealed another card from his hand.

"Quick-Play Spell—'Scrap Downpour!'"

Countless scrap parts—broken fragments of various devices—rained down like hail onto Fujiki You Xuan's field, burying even his own Two-Headed Dog under a deluge of debris.

Fujiki You Xuan said: "'Scrap Downpour' can only be activated if I control a 'Scrap' monster. I send one 'Scrap' monster from my deck to the graveyard, draw one card, then destroy one 'Scrap' monster on my field."

Fujiki You Xuan showed the monster card automatically retrieved from his deck and sent it to the graveyard.

"I send 'Scrap Chimera' from my deck to the graveyard, then draw a card."

Fujiki You Xuan drew a card.

"Then I destroy 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog!'"

The Scrap Two-Headed Dog exploded with a thunderous crash under the onslaught of scrap debris, its body dissolving into the torrent of parts.

Sherry finally understood: "'Scrap Downpour' is a Quick-Play Spell and can chain to 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog's' effect. Both cards must pay the cost by destroying one 'Scrap' monster on the field. Since 'Scrap Downpour' activates before 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog's' effect resolves, both effects targeting the same monster allow me to save one destruction cost."

The Scrap Two-Headed Dog exploded with a thunderous crash under the barrage of Scrap Rain, its disintegrating body swept into the torrent of countless parts.

At this moment, Sherry understood: "'Scrap Rain' is an immediate spell that triggers the effect of 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog.' Both cards must sacrifice one Scrap monster on your field as a cost."

"'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' has another monster effect! When it is destroyed and sent to the graveyard by the effect of a card with 'Scrap' in its name, I can choose one 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard, except 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog,' and add it to my hand."

The phantom of the destroyed Two-Headed Dog flashed above Fujiki You Xuan's head, roaring to the heavens as one card from the graveyard emerged and returned to his hand.

"Therefore, I return 'Scrap Chimera' from the graveyard to my hand!"

Sherry's mind stirred.

'Scrap Downpour' sends a Scrap monster from the deck to the graveyard, then 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' is destroyed and returns a Scrap monster from the graveyard to the hand—effectively allowing direct retrieval of a Scrap monster from the deck to the hand.

Moreover, both 'Scrap Downpour' and 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' require destroying a monster as a cost, but since both effects targeted the same monster, even that cost was saved.

Since 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' was Special Summoned by its own effect, the Normal Summon opportunity for this turn was also saved.

Sherry studied the white-haired man across from her intently.

This man is not merely a symbol of privilege. Even as a duelist, he is formidable!

Moreover, both the activation of 'Scrap Rain' and 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog' require destroying a monster as a cost—but since both costs targeted the same 'Scrap Two-Headed Dog,' even that cost was saved.

The Iron Twin-Headed Dog was special-summoned by its own effect, so even this turn's normal summon was skipped.

Shirley carefully studied the white-haired man across from her.

This guy isn't just a symbol of privilege and power—he's also a formidable duelist!
