Chapter 1784

~7 min read 1,262 words

Why has Zeus's temple suddenly appeared?

He had no idea what secrets lay hidden in this region!

"No, it's not Zeus's temple—it's an illusion created by someone else," Ximen Wudi shook his head.

If Zeus's temple had truly intervened, this matter would have become far more complicated, not as easily resolved as just now.

But since Zeus's temple has appeared, it means the enemy is certainly not far from them.

"Brother Rui, the enemy is approaching," Shao Zihang reported via radio: "Should we relocate now?"

"No need. The enemy is about to attack—running away only makes us the weaker side," Ximen Wudi said, squinting.

He felt no fear of the enemy at all; instead, a faint sense of anticipation rose within him.

This anticipation came from confidence.

Or rather, from admiration for a certain man.

This was Ximen Wudi's respect for a certain man—his deepest inner longing.

Hmm, although the current Zeus is different from before, that doesn't mean he's become someone else, nor could he ever abandon his former glory and mission.

"Alright, prepare to meet the enemy!"

Ximen Wudi let out a low roar, then drew his long blade.

"Go get 'em, Rui!" Shao Zihang exclaimed excitedly, then raised his laser-gold long rod and smashed the Cang Sect lock!

Bang!

The Cang Sect door shattered—he led a dozen men charging inside!

"You idiots, are you here to die?!"

Emmons's eyes blazed with ferocious light, but when he saw how few had stormed in, a sense of despair surged through him!

The enemy had only twenty-some people! How could so few possibly hold back that insane monster?!

Emmons knew he was doomed.

But if he surrendered quietly and waited to be flayed alive, he'd die with eyes wide open in rage!

"Who are you! Why are you opposing me?!" Emmons roared.

At this moment, he no longer cared about his image, for he realized that even if he lost all his gentlemanly poise, no one would bother to listen to him!

"Who are we?" Ximen Wudi smiled faintly: "I am Apollo."

Upon hearing this, Emmons froze stiff, eyes bulging—he couldn't believe his ears!

This news was truly earth-shattering, even cataclysmic!

What is Apollo doing in Africa?!

Did he come here specifically to seek revenge on me?!

"You damned bastards, why did you come after me?!" Emmons shrieked: "Do you even know who I am?!"

Ximen Wudi said coldly: "Even if you're the Pirate King, today I'll kill you to avenge my father."

Avenge his father.

In that instant, Ximen Wudi's tone revealed intense sorrow and fury—as if the very air around him grew colder and deadlier.

"Hahahaha!" Emmons laughed loudly at Ximen Wudi's words: "Apollo, I admit you're outstanding—but heroes in this world always die young. You're so young, already atop the peak, yet you've yet to see the world's wonders. To die now would be such a waste!"

Emmons was provoking Ximen Wudi!

Ximen Wudi showed no anger; he said: "There are too many things in this world you'll never see, never touch. Your so-called peak is merely an illusion you've fooled yourselves into believing."

Emmons's face turned as dark as water, as if he were brewing something: "Apollo, you've come to the wrong place."

Ximen Wudi said calmly: "Is that so? I think not. Otherwise, why would you be in my room—and why did you dock this ship right before our harbor? Clearly, this was long planned."

He paused, then suddenly shifted his tone: "Besides, your ship is loaded with explosives—do you intend to blow up the entire cruise liner?"

Emmons's face twisted with malice: "You guessed right—we're going to destroy this ship, destroy your Chinese aircraft carrier group!"

"Oh?"

Ximen Wudi raised an eyebrow, his eyes glinting with dangerous light: "So you plan to trade the lives of our citizens for your American defense research projects, is that it?"

This bastard was truly despicable!

One couldn't help but want to punch his damn face!

"Yes, we want to use China's resources to build up our American arms industry—after all, that way we'll have sufficient military power!" Emmons said.

In truth, he said this to conceal something else.

For instance… America's research resources could be exchanged for Chinese technology, but if those resources were used to build fighter jets, America would lose its most vital competitive edge!

Moreover, if they did this, America would sink into an endless cycle until it degraded into a second-rate nation!

This was precisely the president's greatest fear—and the reason he sent Emmons here to execute this plan.

If Emmons could lure Ximen Wudi to the designated harbor and then detonate these explosives… even the Sun God Apollo, caught off guard, would struggle to escape the devastation!

At that moment, America could smoothly reap the fruits of victory!

"What's the difference between you and evil forces? What's the difference between you and terrorists?" Ximen Wudi said coldly.

He had seen through the enemy's intentions.

"Hehe, Mr. Apollo, you're insulting the word 'evil' with that remark," Emmons said: "In our eyes, every person in this world is evil."

His words seemed contradictory, yet Ximen Wudi had not the slightest doubt about this answer.

"America will collapse someday," Ximen Wudi said calmly: "Your politicians and military will eventually sink entirely into terrorism."

With that, he stepped forward slowly, each step heavy as a thousand jin.

At this moment, Emmons held an assault rifle, yet his legs felt weak as water.

He had never encountered such a formidable presence, never seen eyes as icy and piercing as these.

"No, we will grow stronger and stronger, while you will die," Emonsi said. "This world belongs to us, the superheroes."

"You're right — this world truly belongs to you so-called 'superheroes,'" Ximen Wudi shook his head, sneering. "But these 'heroes' are not worthy of respect."

His words were like pouring oil on fire!

Emonsi could no longer suppress his rage; he suddenly raised his arm, the gun barrel aimed squarely at Ximen Wudi!

Bang!

Ximen Wudi's foot slammed against the ground, his body surged forward, speed skyrocketing as he lunged straight at Emonsi!

In the instant Emonsi pulled the trigger, Ximen Wudi had already leapt forward, his right fist raised high, crashing down with brutal force onto Emonsi's chest!

The blow sent the latter flying backward without even a cry!

With the overwhelming power behind it, Emonsi's ribs shattered into several pieces; he spat blood uncontrollably!

Ximen Wudi did not pursue; he stood still, gazing at the dying man on the ground, and shook his head: "American special forces — utterly worthless."

Emonsi painfully turned his head and clearly saw the mockery and pity shining deep within Ximen Wudi's eyes.

Then, Ximen Wudi turned and left the room.

He had no intention of staying here.

Emonsi lay on the ground, blood oozing from his lips, teeth gritted: "Apollo! You will pay for this!"

Ximen Wudi did not respond again; he walked into the cockpit and sat down.

"Hey, where are we going next?" Emonsi's aide asked.

He had seen Ximen Wudi's extraordinary physical prowess; though utterly confident in himself, he still felt tense.

"Back to the Chinese capital," Ximen Wudi narrowed his eyes. "I will make this world understand: China is inviolable."

Emonsi coughed violently in the back seat, streams of blood trickling from his mouth, looking utterly broken.

…………

Emonsi had expected this mission to proceed smoothly, but he had encountered Ximen Wudi — a monstrous anomaly.

This guy's thinking was utterly bizarre: he was the one who kidnapped Emonsi here, yet he acted more like a rescuer!
