Chapter 179: You Are the Outsider

~8 min read 1,410 words

In Chu Yue's eyes, Cheng Wan is selfish and self-interested.

She has no place for the Chu family in her heart, which is why she cannot tolerate Qin Yunshu.

"Cheng Wan, you have gone too far this time," she scolded with a sullen face. "Taking advantage of A Li not being home to torment Yun Shu like this, aren't you afraid he will be angry when he returns?"

Cheng Wan said indifferently, "I told her to leave. She refused to go and insisted on standing outside in the rain; what does that have to do with me?"

It wasn't as if she was the one who wanted Qin Yunshu to stand outside.

"You... you are simply lawless," Chu Yue said, deeply pained. "Yun Shu has already realized her mistake and apologized to you; why won't you forgive her?"

"Do you really have to drive her out of the Chu family?"

"But she has a blood connection to Chu Li, and you are the outsider."

The more Chu Yue spoke, the more severe her tone became.

It seemed as if Cheng Wan were the root of all evil.

"Yun Shu has a bit of a temper, but she didn't truly harm you. Cheng Wan, how can you be so cruel as to lock her outside for an entire night?"

Cheng Wan could not listen any longer. She stood up and looked coldly at Lady Qin. "If I remember correctly, Chu Li sent her home yesterday. If she cannot stay in her own home and insists on coming to a place where she is unwelcome, I don't know who she is trying to disgust."

Lady Qin was streaming with tears. "She only wanted to apologize."

"Is she trying to apologize, or is she trying to harm the child in my womb?" Cheng Wan simply brought up the child in her womb.

Nowadays, this child is exceptionally important.

"She is not that kind of person."

"If she isn't that kind of person, then why is she shamelessly insisting on coming here?"

Lady Qin was left speechless by the retort.

Indeed, it was Qin Yunshu herself who insisted on coming here.

Chu Yue sighed. "Cheng Wan, harmony brings prosperity to a family. Harmony brings prosperity, do you understand? By making such a scene now, people outside will only treat our family as a joke."

Cheng Wan tilted her head to look at Chu Yue. "You just called me an outsider a moment ago, so whether your family prospers or not has nothing to do with me."

Chu Yue: "You..."

She had finally witnessed Cheng Wan's sharp tongue.

"Show them out," Cheng Wan said, unceremoniously kicking them out, and added, "From now on, without my permission, no one is allowed to be let in."

"Yes."

Lady Qin was so angry she nearly burst into a string of curses.

Chu Yue frowned; it seemed it wasn't that Qin Yunshu hadn't tried hard enough, but that Cheng Wan was impervious to reason.

It seemed she would have to think of another way.

She left with Lady Qin.

Cheng Wan didn't take this matter to heart at all; she tidied up and drove to the studio.

After handling some trivial matters, she received a call from Chu Li.

There was silence on the other end, with only the sound of shallow breathing.

Cheng Wan had little patience. "If you aren't going to speak, I'm hanging up."

"Come home early for dinner." Chu Li hung up the phone.

Cheng Wan frowned; Chu Li's tone could not be considered good, presumably because of the matter with Qin Yunshu.

She did not take it to heart.

After staying for another two hours in the afternoon, Chu Fangfei arrived.

She watched Qin Ping'an quietly for a moment before saying softly, "Is this your son?"

"Mm," Cheng Wan nodded.

The smile on Chu Fangfei's face was somewhat forced.

She had spoken to her mother about Wen Lvzhong, but the result was that she received some explosive news.

That was that Wen Lvzhong and Cheng Wan had a son together.

She could not believe it and had rushed over.

Looking closely at the child, he did resemble Wen Lvzhong in some ways.

She found it somewhat hard to accept.

"You and Wen Lvzhong, you..." Chu Fangfei did not know what she should say.

Her heart was filled with bitterness.

Cheng Wan did not want to engage with her and took Qin Ping'an by the hand to leave.

Chu Fangfei could not bear it at all and asked directly, "Then do you still love him now?"

Cheng Wan gently stroked her belly. "What do you think?"

She did not answer the question directly.

There were tears in Chu Fangfei's eyes, trembling on the verge of falling. "You... you..."

"Fangfei, why are you here?" Wen Lvzhong's voice suddenly came from behind.

He walked to Chu Fangfei's side in a few steps and saw her tears.

"What is wrong?"

Cheng Wan said bluntly, "She found out that Ping'an is your son."

A look of urgency appeared on Wen Lvzhong's face. "Fangfei, let me explain."

He held Chu Fangfei's hand, looking exceptionally sincere and earnest. "Fangfei, Ping'an was just an accident, and he is currently staying with Cheng Wan; please don't mind it, okay?"

He pleaded in a humble and cautious manner.

Cheng Wan's pupils dilated in shock, but she remained silent.

She did not believe that Wen Lvzhong had developed feelings for Chu Fangfei so quickly.

So what was Wen Lvzhong planning?

She thought rapidly in her mind, wondering if she should give Wen Lvzhong a helping hand at this time?

But once she thought about the person on the other side being Chu Fangfei, she dismissed this idea.

Chu Fangfei wiped away her tears, turned around, got into the car, and left.

Wen Lvzhong chased after her for two steps, then stopped.

The tenderness in his eyes was already gone.

"What are you planning?" Cheng Wan asked directly.

Wen Lvzhong stroked Ping'an's hair, his voice very faint, "I am pursuing her."

Pursuing?

Cheng Wan did not believe it, "You don't like her."

She understood Wen Lvzhong.

Therefore, she did not understand.

Wen Lvzhong let out a laugh, his voice relaxed, "No, I like her."

"You..."

Cheng Wan still did not believe it.

But Wen Lvzhong said nothing more; he waved his hand and left.

Qin Ping'an tugged at Cheng Wan's hand and asked innocently, "Mom, does Dad like that lady?"

Cheng Wan did not speak and sighed softly.

It was already nearly six o'clock when they returned to Beicheng Villa, and two cars were parked in the courtyard, one of which Cheng Wan had seen that morning.

Chu Yue had come again.

She led Qin Ping'an inside, and Chu Yue's voice came from the living room.

"A Li, it's not that I'm lecturing you, but you really need to communicate well with Cheng Wan; as a sister-in-law, how could she let her younger sister stay out in the rain for an entire night?"

"Furthermore, Yun Shu still hasn't broken her fever, and she hasn't even gone to take a look; it is truly too cold-hearted."

Chu Li's voice came, "I know."

Cheng Wan took Qin Ping'an directly upstairs.

After changing clothes and going downstairs, several people were already sitting at the dining table.

Qin Yunshu was there too.

Chu Li held her wrist and pulled her to sit down, "Let's eat."

Cheng Wan did not spare a single glance; she took a small bowl for Qin Ping'an, picked out some of the dishes he liked for him, and then had a servant take Ping'an to the living room.

She was afraid that the child would be frightened later.

Chu Yue spoke with a smile, "The child is being taken care of by the servants; Wanwan, stop busying yourself and eat quickly, take good care of the child in your belly."

Cheng Wan did not speak.

Chu Yue sighed, "Are you still angry?"

Cheng Wan picked up her chopsticks, "Are you going to eat or not?"

Chu Yue almost failed to maintain her fake smile; she glanced at Chu Li.

Chu Li gripped Cheng Wan's wrist, "Wait a moment."

Cheng Wan looked at him quietly.

"Wanwan, regarding the matter of Yun Shu, I want to say a few words." Chu Li's tone was very faint, yet brooked no argument.

Cheng Wan put down her chopsticks, "Speak."

She was very curious about what Chu Li could possibly say.
